To anyone else needing to replace the older smaller mechanical seals on their CX go with the "sheps" method so you don't have to replace the metal cup of the seal. Its a much easier and better way.
If my work on sea taught me anything, its that you DONT touch the sealing service of a mechanical seal. The grease will burn it up and it will fail early.
The smaller seal is no longer available. Others recommend using a small flapper wheel to remove just enough material to keep a pressed fit. That being said, I'm sure what he did will work, It would take a lot to spin that cup in the adhesive he used...never will spin.
How did that work for you? The mechanical seal is supposed to be a press fit. It looks like you sanded out the hole too much so it doesn't fit tight anymore. Curious if it leaked or not?
Art Henschell well, dont know yet as the engine is disassembled completely at the moment. I hope within a month i will be able to start it. But as for the press fit... I filled the gaps between with sort of a silicone (that is used instead of an engine seal) and it looks fine. This part is not gonna leak at all. What i am concerned about is the installation and torque needed to tighten the impeller/pump on it so that it works fine..
@@robsworldcz chtělo to dát na frézku a protočit s přesahem, takhle volně a jen to zalepit silikonem to bych se bál že se to protočí.no hlavně že to neteče

The bigger seal is for CX 500 Euro, Turbo and GL 500. You should buy the right one at your Honda-dealer. It is expensive, but it fits better.

Hi! good work. Do you remember what kind of seal did you buy for the water Puma cover instesd of original one? The regular one? Thanks
use a little bit of dish soap to lubricate the mechanical seal mating surface or even straight coolant should work.
The old seal hub should stay put and the new seal fits inside the old one.
Helpfull movie, Good job👍😀!
