    Thanks for the video. I’m a bit puzzled by what comes under the label “old timey” music. I see it as a subset of folk music, but different from bluegrass. Other than that I’m not sure what it is. I recognized Angeline the Baker, and Old Joe Clark, but just thought of them as folk. My main reportoire is the Playford collection of English country dance music. I haven’t found a session for that although the Country Dance & Song Society (CDSS) is probably where I would begin once I got the courage to go public.

      I'd say old time is kinda like bluegrasses grand dad.
      Bluegrass came about when Bill Monroe took it in a whole different direction.

      @@thomp9054 Yes, Bill Monroe is really a genre founder, so I guess by default every thing earlier old time

      @@chiron14pl old time did continue on after Monroe.
      Similar instrumentation but different techniques and feel.
      Bluegrass is very on top of the beat, songs often end with higher bpms than they start with.
