Awesome to see you in the passenger seat with Mackie, I've spent many hours enjoying the same when we tuned it on our "closed roads"... I always get a smile thinking of when we tuned it and I told him we needed to tune it how he drives it at the track, next corner we're on the e-brake and limiter as requested... good times. :D

There 1500kg as I have a XY Fairmont which is a factory V8 …but now has a Barra turbo…I scaled it at the drag track …My XY has just shy of 600hp

I bought the street machine magazine back in the day solely for the expose on this car! I remember him getting a lot of grief about it, but it is so cool and instant horsepower by dropping an LS1 in it. You could spend thousands of dollars on old Cleveland 351 and still not gain the same horsepower.

The LS seems to do the job but it's just a little weird seeing the iconic XY with a LS1 in it.
sure, but people go with the LS platform for a few reasons. they are cheap, parts are everywhere, they are reliable and easy to make good power for less money not to mention lightweight. pretty much the same reasons people have always liked small block chevy engines. if you are making your power with boost and a basically stock motor and blow it up its no big deal to go pull another motor out of a wreck and be back on the road/track with a weekends work. i know a lot of people think they are boring or the swap is overdone but thats the case for a reason they are just hard to beat if you are building something you want to beat up on and not worry too much about breaking it.
An LS1 is a lot cheaper than a Miami

Great car! A long ways from the 62 Falcon I had many years ago. 144 ci six with three on the tree. Such a dog but got me around at the time. One thing I started wondering lately, How are the pedals arranged on a right hand drive car? I've never driven one.

@@MrGeebs84 Thanks. A friend of mine had a pizza business and bought two old Jeep mail trucks that were right hand drive for deliveries. There were radiator and cooling issues with both of them. I worked on them some but can't remember the pedals. Unfortunatly his teen age drivers wrecked them both.

The same people that would complain about this often have a long long list of aftermarket (non-Ford) engine parts on their Ford. You could build an entire Clevo or Windsor from non-Ford parts and they would think that is perfectly alright, in fact some boast about it with all these name-brand stickers on the rear window. Sounds like a double standard to me.
And if, for example, one who disagrees with the LS motor fitment (not "complains".) was to have a Ryco oil filter on their Falcon "Barra", they'd be exhibiting a "double standard"? 😆😅🤣.
