Congratulations for the great job. I have an XL1200 and I am passionate about Harley Davidson mechanics. I wish the friend much success and I am happy to know that on the other side of the world there are people who love HD as much as I do. Greetings from Brazil.
I'm so glad you commented from the other side of the globe! Japan is a big Harley country! It's overflowing with everything from old bikes to the latest and greatest!
14:01 Wow, I never would have thought of that, you're really kind, I learned something new. I always take care of my engine by myself, but if I lived in Japan, I would definitely bring my Harley to you for maintenance! Watch your posts is always a pleasure!
I wanna say thank you so much many times. I have replaced pair of first gear, drilled another hole in arm lever and wow, how easy to find neutral, no more jerks, smooth ride. I like it a lot. Best wishes from Russia.
Hi, I am a former Harley-Davidson mechanic, I must say that you work very well, beautiful the hole on the lever, excellent makeup. Greetings from Milan, Italy
Hello and thank you for the video. I have a question, what are the size and dimensions of the e clip you used as a replacement? It seems like the stock clip that hold the Detent plate is a point of failure, what did you use as a replacement? Thanks from arizona
I forget the size of this clip, but I prepared the clip first and machined the shaft to fit it. But now I don't use this method, I mount it by welding.
Very nice video! Hello from Ukraine It looks like both front and rear suspensions have modifications, looks very nice! I love this style! Could you please tell me what exactly is changed with the front fork, I'd like to make something similar with Sportster?
Thanks for commenting from Ukraine! I didn't change anything in the suspension of this Sportster! It's stock. XL1200S is originally equipped with a cartridge type suspension.
@@nazar.ostryzhniuk Because of its generous stroke, the vehicle barely feels the unevenness of the road surface during normal driving, and the amount of spring sinking can be easily adjusted. When driving at high speed, you can drive with peace of mind as the moderate stiffness prevents wobbling. However, many of them need to be overhauled due to aging.
@@nazar.ostryzhniuk please stay safe in these challenging times, and I hope your country prevails in its struggle for freedom. Best wishes from the USA! 🇺🇦 🇺🇸
Thanks for another good video! I have a 1990 XL. The 3rd gear broke and blew out the back of the engine case. My shop is a Knucklehead to Shovelhead specialist so I cut the gearbox off the back of the Sportster engine and replaced with a Shovelhead gearbox.... I had to modify the frame etc. Now i have a Shov-ster haha Takecare my friend

Hello from Russia! Thanks for sharing! My Buell X1 need same service for gearbox. I have jerk in first gear when starting motion, but it happens seldom. Subscribed.
Thank you for your comment from Russia! If the problem is not that bad, I think you should take care of the detent plate alone, so you won't have problems for a long time to come!
@@infinitymotorcycle Good day! I extracted gear box from the engine and didn't see any marks of wear on gears. The detent plate placed an angle to surface and has scuffs on 5th gear point, may it causes jerks? Thank you.
