    I’ve just got a Dutch Army Hooped Bivi
    That’s an XL (2.7m long) but side entry zip sells it to me for getting in and out. No snake wrigglers 🤪

      Michael seen those, looks like a great a choice. I’ve still not used mine in anger as I tend to hammock more than ground dwell.

      Hi I’ve got a DD Hammock that I’ve never used yet. Scared of falling lol 😂
      Just subscribed too.

    Just bought one of thease minus the poles, was gonna have a go at making some to keep down on cost of buying. Could u please tell me the pole length

    • @TheCraftyWoodsman
      @TheCraftyWoodsman  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The six poles are each 43 cm long and fit together, the total length of 3 poles is 1.24 meters long. Each pole is Approx 5mm thick. Hope that helps you out.

    That’s a cool Bivi got to be better than the regular none hope version which for longer nights is a tuff pitch. What was the weight approx? Thx 🙏🏼 for the Shared

      Thanks for the comments, weight wise it’s 1.5kg in its bag.

    I'm in three minds of a dutch hooped bivi and basha, normal bivi bag or just one of these and no basha, any advice?

    • @TheCraftyWoodsman
      @TheCraftyWoodsman  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      jim p personally I think basha or tarp and a normal bivi bag. A 3x3 tarp can be made into a variety of shelters including a tent and my issue with the hooped type is where to store your kit. I normally use the Alpkit hunka XL bivi bag and a DD 3x3 tarp.

      @@TheCraftyWoodsman I was thinking the same, I'm used to the basha and bivi bag from my army days, I can turn a issued basha into a number of different types of shelter, thanks for the advice

      I was given mine so can’t tell you where to buy one. Military mart carry the Dutch version that opens up more and might be worth a look.

    Did you use it over night?
    Anything to report?

    • @TheCraftyWoodsman
      @TheCraftyWoodsman  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve used it a few times, find it a bit claustrophobic so tend not to use it as much as other sleep setups.

    I've been studying a bivibag to give it a try. But this one... It seems to me that it gathered the worst of the hooped bivy (more weight) and the non hooped bivy (entrance).. May be wrong though...

    • @TheCraftyWoodsman
      @TheCraftyWoodsman  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends on your needs. Personally if weight is an issue, I’d look at other options. I use the Alpkit hunka XL most of the time.

    get in and then try to get into a sleeping bag... lol. I think the construction is kinda flawed. Prefer the Carintha Explorer. Works better, lighter and - in the dutch army version - also cheaper and in DPM too.

    To much messing about for me. I prefer a tarp and bed roll plus some were to put your kit. I bet it don’t come cheap 🤣🤣
