Glad you decided to go ahead and let the other person pay for a losing investment. Many years ago I got wrapped up in a eBay bid on a turbocharged hayabusa. I wanted it so bad but near the end of the bid a new bidder popped up and started a bidding war with me. I felt that this was a set up from the seller and began to feel uncomfortable. After several bids over what I originally set as my limit I decided to stop and allowed the other bidder the win. But within 5 minutes of the winning bid the seller messaged me saying that the other guy didn't have the $ to purchase the bike, he'd be willing to sale it to me at my last offered bid. To me, that confirmed that the other bidder was a friend of the seller and was there to drive up the purchasing price. I told him to keep his bike and haven't got involved with online purchasing since.

It’s a sweet bike and it being Jay’s Bike is really cool however I think would kept my cash , you could have built your own for less. Just my opinion.
An SRK limo pick up at the airport is a class act. Better spent money than buying the Leno bike. Personally, I like hearses because of their cargo space, but you might scare some customers away if you picked them up in one.
Mr. Solitude I wouldn’t say that’s better money. Limos are kind of silly to be honest. I’d imagine they did it more for the laughs than anything. Something like a nice Tahoe would be better IMO. Or something custom. I like the hearse idea more. Depends on the clientele though I suppose.

I couldn't wait to get rid of my 02 vmax. Gas tank is too small and they ride and drive like crap. At 120 mph you felt like you were on the edge of death. My gosh and they call that a drag bike thats sad. Fill the tank and reset the trip because it had no fricken gas gauge. I literary ran out of gas at 115 miles total from a fill up and flipped the reserve on happy it worked. 183 miles total that day and my rear was fried. I hope the second gens are way better. 174 hp is the only bragging point i can see so far.

When I go to auctions I don't try to pay less to save money or do bids in increments. I just start with what I'm willing to pay and leave it at that.

Bikes and Beards Mine is a 04 with more mods than than the wife needs to know about. Motor has been punched out, lowered, real carbon fiber body panels the list goes on and on.

Dude I know what you mean about that viper because I bought a c7 and when I first got in it that thing was like the fastest car I or one of the fastest cars I've driven and now that I've had it for a few years it feels almost you know well it's not it's not I'm not as excited about it as what I was when I first bought it

I was thinking the same thing about him finding those things online during work hours my old company had so much internet surfing non work related that they finally wound up having one computer in a public area of our office that would allow you to go online yes they ran reports and it was a ridiculous amount of time spent on Facebook and other social media sites and that’s what made the owners change the system those that needed to research legitimate work related items could do so on the computer anyone could see what they were doing sure everyone still had email ability at their desks

Looks so much like it was the seller bumping the price up. Was bidding on a Kawa Z1000 one day at a local internet auction here in NZ. Was prepared to pay $5.5 to 6K. Someone else bid $6500, I decided to let it go and guess what, once the auction was done...within minutes the seller proceeded to make a fixed price offer to me))) Told them to get lost.

Just remember, Low miles, and it was customized by a Renowned Customizer for Jay Leno, and then donated to Charity. Just the history itself would make it really valuable. You Know the guy who customized it didnt hold back on what he did to it either.

A person could easily toss a box of toothpicks into hot boiling cinnamon and sell them at a Charity Sale for a Thousand dollars, because the money goes to Charity, not in someones pocket. Now do you see te difference? In doing that both the original price and the selling price are taken into account for write-off puropses for tax adjustment. Thats why people within high tax brackets show up to those kind of Auctions. Their money is going to a Great Cause, and is deferred from their taxes.

the $120K original bid should have had nothing to do with the bike's value. that was a charity auction bid. that Jay Leno owned it should have minimal value since he probably only sat on it a couple times. he's still alive and buys and sells vehicles all the time. people overvaluing this bike big time.
I got to deliver a GTS to a customer because the Viper wouldn't fit on a flat deck or a tow truck.. lets just say driving a well over 500 HP Viper with Can Am spec drive train at 115 Kph for an hour is very very hard.

Nobody paid $120k for that bike, Leno had that bike built for charity, and then donated $120k at the auction, because no one bid on it. Leno never actually owned it or rode it, it even stayed at the builders shop after the charity auction. But their plan of dropping Leno's name worked and jacked the price up on a $10k bike.

With Bring A Trailer Auctions, they knock out any possible sniping with the clock resetting at 2 minutes with every last minute bid made. Obviously this happens when the auction clock is at 2 minutes and under.

When things sell at a charity auction the bids often the price is well beyond the value.
Umm.. A bike customized for Jay Leno, stored not in Jay's amazing garage, rather some dude in Texas is NOT the same as it being Jay Leno's bike. $120k is a rip off in that case. IMO If this bike was purchased from Jay, then the price is appropriate
