      @@CogHillFarm Speaking of fruit ( or Nut trees) Jason have you considered putting in some ' nut ' trees ' like pecans? Could be planted away from the house on one of your tree lines so not to take up space and since they will get quite big. With enough trees there would be plenty to sell as a cash crop (down the road)with your flowers. Low maintenance I would assume. And great as gifts to family and friends this time of year.

    A fold -up table would be sufficient until you got your watering station. You could have some at several locations. Or a free wire spool or two would do, too! ❤❤❤

Im in NW Oklahoma, I still have a few flowers still in bloom but most have been hit by frost, it's gotten down into the 20's at night here. Can't wait to see the fruit trees planted and in bloom! Ive got a white mulberry tree, but it's HUGE and I cat get to the fruit, so the birds have it all. Y'all take care!

    Congratulations on getting your 1st fruit trees for your fruit orchard ti get started!! I’m so happy to hear your honing yo put grape vines and kiwi vines out also!! I thought your area got a lot colder than it does ! I’ve been hearing y’all talk about how your freeze depth requirements were only 5 “ and that if it snows you only get a dusting! I’m originally from Florida, Ocala to be exact it’s northern central in location but I now live in Ohio ants been in the 20’s the past 2 days both day and night ! I lived in Florida all my like from birth until age 54 when I moved up here in 2004 to be near my only living child my son who moved up here after graduating from college in 1994 ! And I sure miss my growing seasons in Florida compared to Ohio ! And I know y’all enjoy your growing seasons in Alabama! I’ll give you a tip I used in Florida and I use here in Ohio to conserve water and it gets the water to the plant roots ! When planting the plant or trees put a 2” round and 2 ft long piece of PVC pipe down just below your root level about 4-5”, drill holes in the pipe about every 4” up to just above the root level ! Put a PVC cap on the top to keep water from evaporating ! Use the pipe to water your trees or plants , you’ll fill the pipe with water and let it go down an re-cap the pipe, you can take some of your manure and put it in a bucket of water and desolve it to make natural fertilizer and pour some that water down your pipe also , by desolving it in the water it will help keep the roots from having the chancel for burning them!! Or you can just pour the manure water on top of the soil and let it drain in naturally ! But by using the PVC pipe to water your plants snd trees it really saves you a lot of water , I’ve been doing it for over 25-30 yrs and it really works well I’d just go from tree or plant and fill my pipes with my water hose and it’s fast and effective!! Good luck y’all , I love y’all’s videos and podcast!! ❤️🙏🙋🏻

  • @terryhenderson424
    @terryhenderson424 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Look into what is called a "Dansom Plum". It doesn't need a companion pollinator tree, perfers fig tree conditions but can tolerate slightky colder conditions and more summer sun, is PROLIFIC and should be supported, is pretty hardy, recovers from branch dropping and tree splitting disasters (dont ask, the branches need support and when a big tree falls on it just water, water, water). The fruit is small and about the size of a larger, grape tomato. It was pretty popular, does grow bigger than the 12' tags and books say, and is a little harder to find than it was.
    A number, but definitely not all, of the Asian fruit trees handle milder winters. Asian pears are resounded hardy with some preferring milder winters and many newer cultivars developed for colder winters.

    Passionfruit? I don't know for sure that you can grow it, but the part of Australia I live in has a somewhat similar climate (slightly lower and significantly higher min/max but less humidity tho we're classified same climate I think...) and they do great here. Amazing amount of zingy sweet vit C and vines produce in their second year given lots of room on a trellis facing the sun. Full production in third year, but only last 6-8 years, so you it's best to stagger a couple, even though you only need one. They also have a beautiful flower. Looks like you're going to have an awesome orchard, I'm very jealous!

    Giving you the best advice which is the best tree to get.
    I can go to a nursery over here in the UK they might no their stuff but not like that man.
    They not as helpful either they would just leave you to it if you asked their advice they wouldn't be as helpful as that guy for sure. Great choices Jason. Gona be fab orchard & you be able to add to it at a later date with other fruit trees. 😋 Brooke will sure be busy come next year freeze drying lots of fruit 😋 you might even have enough to sell later on. 😉

    Wow, how informative this man is. I’m so hungry for a good fruit salad. Those figs look so delicious looking. Where was he when I was looking for my fruit and vegetables? Oh, man! Is that snow I see? Brrr! So, you traveled a ways to get that fruit. Have a blessed day!

    We used to haul trees, bushes etc in our reefer trailers, temperature controlled, from Florida to Calif. They sure made a mess in our trailers though.

    I saw an apple tree at home depot last year that said it grew 3 varieties of apples on that single tree.
    I was floored.
    I didn't buy it since I'm ill and don't think I'll be around to see it grow and come to fruit.
    I would love to see that tree putting out fruit.
