What's the point of taking a song that is not yours, and just put lyrics on it without changing anything on the music ? Is this what we call talent ?
And big part of rap is lyricism and lyricism needs no beat or can use any beat. The beat is there to evoke emotion and the lyrics are supposed to evoke thought. So you can use beats from songs that already exist to either evoke a particular emotion or just to test the non verbal skills of a rapper (flow, delivery, tonality, etc). It also brings awareness to music that the listener may have never heard.
