I've seen this performance before, and owned the album since '97. But seeing it now, older and wiser, I can't believe this performance. The tension, pain, even anger, is unreal. This has to be one of the greatest performances of all time. A renewed respect for Fleetwood Mac. As if they needed it.
A perfect observation. It's like we pulled up a chair at a table where thet were pouring out their hearts to each other. We don't know their busness but, as observed by many others there's always going to be something between these two.
I guess we all have our Lindsey or Stevie. This song makes me cry every time thinking about what could have been and what was. This is beautiful and haunting all the same.
The Mac at their best: emotional and raw. They had an uncanny ability to reach the deepest levels of the personal feelings we all share. I don't think they set out to do this, it just happened and they set it to record. Lucky for all of us.
If you don't get goose bumps when Stevie & Lindsey trade verses at the end you are not human & spiritual...what brilliance & beauty they bring....you simply can not top this! Legendary! ;) The Mac 4 ~ Eva!
The most beautiful and raw moment I've ever seen on stage. No pretending that these words are about anything but what burns between them, and always will. There's nobody else on the stage. There's nobody else in the auditorium. It's just them, staring and singing to the bottom of their hearts to each other.
I could watch this day and night. Seriously, doesn't get any better than this! Stevie and Lindsey's love is still such a powerful and unmistakable bond. This video is proof positive of that! Love me some Fleetwood Mac!
From 4:10 Stevie singing 'you'll never get away from the sound of the woman that loves you' has got to be the most heartbreaking, spine chilling performance I have ever witnessed - find me something to compare it with... ill wait.....
So raw and powerful. This is their best performance ever. Am I the only one who kinda feels bad for Lindsay's wife? She must be an incredible woman to watch something like this and be able to keep on going. Because this right her is real and raw.
They were very focussed on each other. I love to watch these two interact while singing, you can see their intimate connection, and you can see they are communicating with each other through the music. Writing and then singing these songs are definitely healing and therapeutic for Stevie. Lindsey seems supportive even if he did totally crush her heart.
She dumped him. I suppose he really must have pissed her off for her to write that song to him. He was and still is brokenhearted. He is madly in love with Nicks and she is stabbing him straight through his heart with her eyes, voice and emotions on stage. Wow, these two are a force of nature.
The way Stevie and Lindsey steal looks at one another is so powerful when they did this song. Anybody that knows the history gets it. This rendition shakes me to the core every time I watch it. Stevie nails it!
and I feel like Stevie's saying to Lindsey that this song is about you and that I won't ever let you forget it. Such raw emotion and honesty. The fact that they go through this emotional venting each night n tour is either cathartic or torture...still a phenomenal prerformace.
Twenty years after Rumours, the love, hate, tension, and genius of Fleetwood Mac came together for this gem. Now, almost twenty years after The Dance, it is still just as powerful. The interaction between Stevie and Lindsey is just legendary, and if it weren't for that love, hate and tension, Fleetwood Mac would not be the force that it is. Kudos to such a great band!
Living this nightmare since 1993. Been listening to this hauntingly hypnotic, gut wrenching, soul crushing truth for 23 consecutive hours. Best day of my life.
Utterly otherworldly is how I describe the effect this particular song has on me. It comes from a place of purity, passion and the power that music has on us. The universal language of love and hearts being their most vulnerable. Silver Springs gets under my skin, makes itself completely at home and fills in the cracks, just for a few moments anyway 💜💜
I agree. When I watch this I can tell they are both really hurting. Nicks is stabbing him through the heart with this song and he has to stand there and take it. I would not be able to handle that.
Oh, Stevie. Glancing toward Lindsey, repeatedly, searchingly...and then when he deigns so return her eye-lock, the electricity between them is every bit as fierce as ever. Goddamn. How could you not love Stevie?
Awesome song! I love this version of Silver Springs. I always end up bawling by the time the song is over. I don't know why. I'm not in a relationship with anyone. Some songs have that affect on me.
The ecstasy on Mick Fleetwoods face tells the story of how amazing this song is. Add to that when Stevie and Lindsay sing to each other at the end. My god, you really have it all in one song.
One of their best live performances! Lindsey’s solo is chef’s kiss! Then Stevie staring in his eyes as she sings the song she wrote to him about him! Bravo! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I've only ever been to 1 concert in my life and I'm so happy that it got to be The dance 1997.. Broken back, in a wheel chair and all and still the best night of my life to date. 💗💗
This performance is one of my all time favourite live performances. The chemistry between them is undeniable. The verses at the end are sang from the heart into the other's soul. ♥
The amazing thing about this song is that it wasn't released as a single, I heard it the first time on the radio I believe it was in 1980 and right away I was hooked on this song, funny how this song was more popular 10 years later, as much as I love rhiannon and a whole bunch of their songs I would have to say that this is my clear favorite Fleetwood mac song, the lyrics, the music and how she sings it is totally amazing.
Love this song . I think the piano is so major . Bless Christine. She was such an important part of the success of this band and I'm sure they all know it. It's just that she wound up sharing the stage with a woman who was probably the most famous female front singer in a generation. I think this iteration of FM; the two couples and Mick was the band at it's best.
when I first saw this video concert on VH1 I was mesmerized by the power of this song and the obvious feelings between Lindsay and Stevie, it was all still there, the hurt, the past between them. She is really letting him have it!
As I watch this video over and over again, I never take for granted that 1/2 the success of the video is the camera shots and how perfectly timed it was, when at first, he would look at her when she wasnt looking and vice versa. And as the song intensifies, their eyes lock and you can see their entire history together in those few moments.
The extended look that Stevie and Lindsey share with one another breaks my heart for each of them every time. They were horrible to each other, but that look shows how much they loved each other and still how raw the nerves are between the two. You cant act that out; that’s real life, which is why it’s so powerful every time I watch this.
Haunting Vocals and the eye contact between Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham, given their past romance is very telling of a Love that has probably never gone away completely. Fleetwood Mac at their best here.
Kevin Stailey agreed. this song has deep meaning that none of us will probably ever know. these 2 had a connection between them that was like fire. love love love this song.
Dedicated to a love lost long ago, hope life has been good to you the last thirty years. I pray that all your dreams came true for you doll,I'll never forget the love we shared, and for what its worth you made the right call!!
I didn’t know this wasn’t the original version of the song until a few years ago. Everything about this one is perfect. Stevie’s voice is so pure and honest in the first two verses. Christine’s harmonies send chills down your spine. Then Lindsey’s solo just feels like he’s saying everything without saying anything at all. The weight this song carries is just... wow.
I just watched this three times. The hair on my neck stood up when Stevie starts into her deep sexy screaming Never Get Away - Never Get Away! Her voice is unmistakable, his guitar sound is so unique. Bands like this come along once in a lifetime. I saw them twice and was blessed to remember Lindsey crying when he sang I'm So Afraid with his beautiful white Gibson Les Paul and a flowing top that made him look like the rock god that he is!
I just can't believe that a musical treasure like this only has 1,130,067 views as of 5/24/2018. That's sick, when you consider the power, beauty, and craftsmanship of this gorgeous ballad and Stevie's heartbreaking performance. So very, very few, could ever come close to her performance here during their entire careers. Come on, people, give me a break.
Lindsey and Stevie are our modern-day Romeo and Juliet. Fleetwood Mac casts a spell on all of us. Those five people, at the time they came together, it was for us.
You just said it perfectly. Lindsey's completely underrated playing, Christine's beautiful piano playing & harmonizing vocals. But to me, it's the way Stevie pours her heart & soul out to Lindsey that makes this my favorite Fleetwood Mac song of them all.
So many comment on Stevie and Lindsey and their stirring performances, and well-deserved. But, this is a great example of Mick's virtuoso drumming. Listen carefully. He is one of the all-time best!
As she starts playing the keyboards, you just know Christine McVie is just looking over there thinking, "keep it together you two."

bigmatt504 I'm not so sure it's live I've played keys for 45 years and if you watch to intro of the piano she goes high but the octave stays low
Lindsey Buckingham's playing is just so exquisite. He has got to be one of the most under rated guitarists ever...
I totally agree!!!
eville62 Right on, eville62!
Agree, he’s a badass.
@@erome31 That he is, for sure.😎🤘
People that know, he's not underrated at all.
She’s probably the greatest solo singer ever she’s old-school. She’s a legend.
She's a superior songwriter also.
The Mac at their best: emotional and raw. They had an uncanny ability to reach the deepest levels of the personal feelings we all share. I don't think they set out to do this, it just happened and they set it to record. Lucky for all of us.
This song pulls at the ole heart strings.

There's a whole lot of history between Stevie and Lindsay. Love, hate, and everything in between.
#1 song and #1 favorite performance. I get goosebumps the way they both look at each other during this performance. So beautiful
I could watch this day and night. Seriously, doesn't get any better than this! Stevie and Lindsey's love is still such a powerful and unmistakable bond. This video is proof positive of that! Love me some Fleetwood Mac!
Yaay someone else caught it as well :) did not even see your comment when I left one almost like it haha
+Melissa Cottrell I totally agree....
+Weezer Me too! They do cast a spell on me!!
oh, yeah!!!!!!!!!!!
That focused stare between the two of them is what makes this version so perfect.
She was singing this from her SOUL to his SOUL 💔
From 4:10 Stevie singing 'you'll never get away from the sound of the woman that loves you' has got to be the most heartbreaking, spine chilling performance I have ever witnessed - find me something to compare it with... ill wait.....
Absolutely agree with you. Bone chilling, heart split wide open...powerful
I WILL WAIT AS WELL. IT WONT HAPPEN. SHE TOLD HIM. HE TOOK IT. A BEAUTIFUL PERFORMANCE. ICONIC AND THEN SOME.

That passion between Stevie and Lindsey was so strong in this video. She added to the song, and wow.......... Greatest version ever...
It is of my humble opinion that this is the best version of this song out there
So raw and powerful.
Yes Stevie's looks straight into Lindsay's says "You may have broken my spirit...but you did not break ME !!!" POWERFUL
Still listening and I’m 54. This song and performance are everything
Almost 53 and same! Imagine that satisfaction of delivering that message and him having have to sing it with you! OMG! She is my hero
70 and still listening! Such a powerful song! Enjoy!❤️🌸🌹
The sad irony is that if Stevie and Lindsey hadn't had such a terrible breakup this song would never have been written.
sometimes beauty comes from tragedy
Yes CRAZY !!!! and Go Your Own Way was his response ....2 of the best songs ever written !!
And don't forget Say Goodbye - I still cry at that one...
SHE wrote LANDSLIDE BEFORE they broke up
Yeah it's sad that real artist barely exist anymore, thank god for Adele
The Eyes filled with Tears when I see Christine,I miss Her,Thank you 💔💔💔💔💔Stay Tune Bandmates👍👍👍👍👍
It does not get better than this masterpiece ~ simply magic!
the perfect comment
A Perfect 10...gut wrenching to watch your lover sing this painful song. Christine McVie adds her stellar harmony to the trio.
Love the close - ups of Beautiful Christine ..
Miss U Beautiful Songbird! ❤❤
Living this nightmare since 1993. Been listening to this hauntingly hypnotic, gut wrenching, soul crushing truth for 23 consecutive hours. Best day of my life.
Christine plays piano brilliantly especially in this beautiful song. She has a wonderful touch 💗
2:28 those harmonies send shivers down my spine every single time😍😍😍
I literally get chills every time I watch her sing this to him.
Some songs have that affect on me.
...Fleetwood Mac! Classic and timeless! Who's still "bumpin" this song in 2020?🤷🏿♂️👏🏿👏🏿😎☺️
2024 here.
The ecstasy on Mick Fleetwoods face tells the story of how amazing this song is. Add to that when Stevie and Lindsay sing to each other at the end. My god, you really have it all in one song.
This song was performed perfect because you can hear the age, maturity, and sadness in Stevie's voice
THE MOST EPICALLY BEAUTIFUL RENDITION OF THIS SONG EVER!!! FLEETWOOD MAC TO THIS DAY WILL REMAIN IN MY HEART
One of their best live performances! Lindsey’s solo is chef’s kiss! Then Stevie staring in his eyes as she sings the song she wrote to him about him! Bravo! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
the harmony gives me goose-bumps - when Christine, Stevie & Lindz all sing together; brilliant photography too
And the backing vocalists. Everyone forgets about them. Why do you think it sounds so rich.
I've only ever been to 1 concert in my life and I'm so happy that it got to be The dance 1997.. Broken back, in a wheel chair and all and still the best night of my life to date. 💗💗
My faith in love will not be restored unless Stevie and Lindsey get back together. This is not the sound of two people who ever got over each other.
I feel Lindsey's quiet solo on his guitar was saying "I'm sorry"
That's a nice positive sentiment.
YES TOTALLY!!! Emotional
You can see the emotion in his face right before his solo.
Sorry for what? Why do you think he's at fault?
I agree!
Oh, man. At the end with Stevie singing to Lindsey so passionately, I get goose bumps. Just fantastic.
This performance is one of my all time favourite live performances. The chemistry between them is undeniable. The verses at the end are sang from the heart into the other's soul. ♥
My late sister favored Stevie alot. She gave me the gift of loving fleetwood mac, I miss her so much 💙
The amazing thing about this song is that it wasn't released as a single, I heard it the first time on the radio I believe it was in 1980 and right away I was hooked on this song, funny how this song was more popular 10 years later, as much as I love rhiannon and a whole bunch of their songs I would have to say that this is my clear favorite Fleetwood mac song, the lyrics, the music and how she sings it is totally amazing.
And did it with poise, grace, and appreciation. Never showed an ounce of jealousy whatsoever. Class Act! 💐
One of the greatest musical performances in human history.
when I first saw this video concert on VH1 I was mesmerized by the power of this song and the obvious feelings between Lindsay and Stevie, it was all still there, the hurt, the past between them. She is really letting him have it!
Seriously, one of the best performances ever. Classic.
As I watch this video over and over again, I never take for granted that 1/2 the success of the video is the camera shots and how perfectly timed it was, when at first, he would look at her when she wasnt looking and vice versa. And as the song intensifies, their eyes lock and you can see their entire history together in those few moments.
Flawless, how much emotion can a person get in to a song. Amazing, and emotional stuff
This version gives me chills! Especially when Stevie starts ripping out, "never get away" at the end!
Absolutely beautiful rendition, beautifully reflective, no bitterness evident , completely melancholy only the truth ! Magnificent!
20 years on...this performance is more powerful than ever.
The weight this song carries is just... wow.
I think when Stevie & Buckingham perform, they remember the romance they once had. Allows them to get to our hearts. Works on me! Love it!
I could listen to this over and over....you can feel the love!!!
You'll never get away from the sound of a woman that loves you. One of the most powerful lines I have ever heard in a song. Great performance!
This performance is perfection, the guitar sounds like a beautiful river flowing gently by...
I don't know which I love more, this song or this performance. Magical.
Doesn't everyone desire to have someone look at them like these two were looking at each other? That's love right there.
Lindsey and Stevie are our modern-day Romeo and Juliet. Fleetwood Mac casts a spell on all of us. Those five people, at the time they came together, it was for us.
Breaks my heart no matter how many times I watch. 🔮
Just extraordinarily superb. Hall of fame song.
Mathew Fullerton yesss loved it!
