  • Welcome to My Little Tropical Farm. I harvested herbs (ginger, turmeric and Culantro) this week and we look at some fruits that we will harvest soon. We are homesteading on this small finca (farm) in Veraguas de Panama.

I’m so impressed by your knowledge and resourcefulness in dealing with farming and animals in Panama! How in the world does a lady from LA (?!!) have all this knowledge and all these skills?!!

I don’t know if you’ve thought about making cider. In my grandmother’s youth the kids had to pick apples every day after school to make it…it was also a way to keep them supplied with vitamin C during the snowy winters. I had no idea about ducks and chickens…although our duck raising was short lived…possibly a 4-H project. The ducks ran loose, the chickens lived in the chicken house. We also ran barefoot all summer which made roaming ducks a problem🙄

I don't think the rose apple makes cider. They aren't really apples. That is why I am not sure if an "apple butter" will work either. Maybe I'll try it!

@ I just looked up Rose Apples…you are certainly right, they are not apples. Interesting 🤔
