    My male jungle carpet python is about 7'8"

      I'm bout to buy a 5 ft dumeril boa and a 3 ft carpet this month . I know coastal s carpets grow longer but I think they say dumerils are shorter but heavy bodied due to them being ground snakes and carpets more of tree snakes but will do both .

      There’s several good sources to turn to book wise and also here on TH-cam as well. I’m going to do best to cover all of the sub species but I currently only have hands on experience with jungle carpets.

      I hear they are pretty popular in Australia even for a 1st pet snake. It's strange that they have a bit of a bad rep in the USA. My 7 year old male IJ carpet python has never bit anyone in his life. Never skipped a meal either! Except for the meals I make him skip for being a bit of a chonky boy lol.

    • @WarfelsMorphs
      @WarfelsMorphs  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @alexcrowder1673 I think the bad rep is from when they’re hatchlings lol. They’re a little spicy when they’re hatchlings or at least the clutch I produced was. But they’re so awesome to work with.

      @@WarfelsMorphs I got mine when i worked at the former Arizona reptile center. He was one of their hatchlings and he was just too sweet of a boy, so i asked my boss how much for him lol. Got him for like 80 bucks. I know as babies lots of them are nippy, burms are the same way despite generally being super docile once they become adults. I tend to try to pick up the animals that are extra confident as babies though, because in my experience they make the best pets.

    Got a South West one myself, as I live in West Australia and they grow out to about 9 feet for the females. On there temperament, it really depends on breading, there go to for defence is to hiss and strike (with mine it only happens when it's blind from being in the blue), however they are easy to read and only strike the direction there head is facing. From my own experience, at least the one I have, is very good at communicating, that might well be the craziest thing about carpet pythons.
    The situation is a bit different in Australia, we can have carpets, womas (and black heads), olives (with a dangerous keeper licence), antaresia and green tree snakes , the rest being hots on a dangerous keeper licence (only applies to West Australia, different rules for different states), so for a big beginner snake, carpet is the go to, although a lot of people keep womas now.

      Thanks for watching and for the support Ramon👊 it’s so awesome to have somebody watching from where these beautiful snakes occur naturally. I’m truly obvious that you get to experience them in the wild. Here in the states carpet have a reputation of being nippy and I’m hoping that through my channel people can see that they are truly amazing snakes that make great pets. Thank you again for the support and I hope to see you in the comments or even in the livestream chat.

    Every Ball Python I've met, has had at least two or more owners in their lifetime .
    Yet every Carpet Python I've met, has been with the same owners for at least 5 years minimum.
    That's the observation I saw before getting mines

    • @WarfelsMorphs
      @WarfelsMorphs  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think the balls get moved more because of the breeding aspect and the constant upgrading of genetics in collections. You don’t have that as much with carpets.

    Anything other than bos is hot because theyre so saturated and played out. Theyre still beautiful dont gwt me wrong but o find carpets and boas much more satisfying for people with a little experience under their belts but thats just me. Having said that this series is going to be awesome! Love the first video already!

      Thank you! Almost everybody breeds balls and it is refreshing to see other species at shows I agree. The best thing about these guys are their normal “form” still blows the balls out of the water. As balls age the brown out and look worse generally. But as carpets age they get better and more vibrant.

      That’s just funny🤣 it just goes to show you how much they all vary. I have seen several coastal close to 10ft. But the mother to my one male was an 8ft jungle as well. They’re all so freaking beautiful and even at 10ft I wouldn’t consider them too big for one person to handle. Thanks for watching Riley appreciate your feedback and support because you’re one person I learn a lot from when it comes to these amazing snakes.

      I'm buying a dumeril and carpets this month or no later than next month . Can I manage a 7,8 ft dumeril boa the same as a coastal carpet 10 ft ? And will that 20 footer carpet still be as active playful curious tree climber as she will at 3ft ? Or will carpets continue climb trees no matter size ? And for some reasons out alot species snakes for it's size and not to be consider a thick heavy body snake but still a large snake I see carpets eating large prey in wild similar to what boas eat. Plus pythons do have more teeth so not sure if that effects them when constrictors prey faster than a boa of same length or similar. But I have saw plenty vids carpets 8ft eating full grown turkeys , chicken's , roosters, raccoons , skunks, even small moneky species . And I'm sure for a slender body snake as carpet still gets large enough to handle small dogs , or house 🐈.

    I got a male Jungle carpet python about 2 and half years ago. He currently is only about three feet and his width is comparable to a corn snake. Am I doing something wrong or is this normal?

    • @WarfelsMorphs
      @WarfelsMorphs  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Every snake will grow totally different than another. My male is way bigger than my female which it should be the other way around lol. As long as you’re feeding him and appropriately sized meal every other week (that’s how I feed) I wouldn’t worry about it. Just enjoy him for his beauty and what he is

    There's no difference in size between males or females in boas and pythons....males can get as big as females

    • @WarfelsMorphs
      @WarfelsMorphs  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      That is not true. Yes on some occasions you’ll have a male that does reach the size of a female. But normally in all honesty the males are generally smaller than the female. With pythons and boas this is the case along with many other snake species. Thanks for watching.

    • @imwaytogoodlookingtobeyour1188
      @imwaytogoodlookingtobeyour1188 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @WarfelsMorphs people feed their females a lot more than males for breeding because they don't wanna have 2 big snakes breeding together so they prefer to feed the females much more than males....it's been proven and has been said by many in the reptile industry....for example...I have a 7 year old boa that's 9 feet...and I've seen boa breeders that have males that are 6 feet and are males and 7 years or more in age....that tells u right there that they don't wanna feed them as much so they won't grow as big as females

    • @WarfelsMorphs
      @WarfelsMorphs  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @imwaytogoodlookingtobeyour1188 I feed my animals the same. They all get an appropriate sized meal for what their size. My males are smaller. All of the breeders that I work closely with will all tell you that males are smaller. And it makes sense too because females bear the young and or lay eggs. Not sure of what sources you’re getting info from but I’d question some of it.
