Getting my First Ever POTA Kilo at Fort Ord Dunes State Park With an 18 WPM CW Activation

- I moved to Seaside, CA with the goal of getting a Kilo at Fort Ord Dunes SP before I left. Almost two years and 44 activations later, I achieved that goal with 454 CW and 556 SSB contacts. Thank you so much to the many communicators that hunted me from US--1150.

I've only had the time to sit in on one class, but it really was great learning alongside other people trying to improve in CW. I'm hoping that being in the same time zone frees me up to attend more regularly.

That drive down Highway 1 on the way to Big Sur is absolutely beautiful. Everyone that came to visit would mention the 17 mile drive and I'd be like "nah, we'll do something worth driving" and past Carmel we'd go.

What key and leg strap combo is that?
That is an Ashi Paddle with the leg strap that comes with it. I bought it from N6ARA on his website (n6ara dot com). The key comes in red or blue, but it looks like he's out of stock right now.
