The feelings were there whether he said them out loud or not. This should have been the true turning point in their relationship and the end of the Gnat always calling John.
I totally agree with you, Layvba! He did love her and showed it in a lot of ways without actually saying the words. I wish the writers and producers would have allowed him to say it to Evangeline, though and for us as fans to see her reaction when he said it. I miss them.
They are SO playful! I loved that she baited and teased him in this scene -- he was a mature man and stayed focused on what he wanted: not being in control ("give me the camera!") but on being with her ("I'll just erase it when I get it..."). Their work appeared so real, so true, I often felt that I was a voyeur...I was watching their intimacy (their love and concern for each other) grow and bloom. Their interactions (when positive) was a blueprint for how grown folks can love. Encouraging!

that's how black actors are treated on all ABC soaps, I have yet to see a black actor last long or be brought back on any ABC soap and I've been watching ABC soaps since they came on the air. Which it was makes me so mad about the Jovan SL,when they saw that the fans were loving Jovan, they ended it even thought John with Knat mad no since.
I know that's right. But REG wants respect, she represents. I'm not even sure she respects the soaps any more. It's going to be a lot harder to get her back, than it ever was to bring her contract fruition.

I think that REG was too big talent for them and they didn't know what to do with her. Every single actor that was in scene with her, they were at their best. on their A-GAME. CHEMISTRY like that is hard to portray and hard to make look really real. NOT FAKE LIKE GNAT. Damn, I hate that girl with a passion.
As an actress I would have wanted a much better character with a lot more self respect. I know soaps never let relationship last or go without cheating on someone part. But this is the 21st century and real people do have lasting relationship and don't always cheat on their partner.

My theory is that they didn't fire REG....Her contract was up and they were negotiating and it fell thru bcz She wanted a better s/l. Why comeback to the same ols same old. She wanted respect for her character and explore John/Van more and Van being a career woman...... They know they needed Her for the rating but they wanted to keep that tired ass storyline going. So She said no deal it was a waste of Her time...... She went bigger and better I mean great things after. REG held that show together with ME. The fact that She was nominated twice for Her character should had count for something. Oltl downfall for not listening. They got John sleeping with the bottom of the barrel (Nat/Blair). Pushed Van with Cristian/DF (which wasn't too bad but he ain't John) and had a close friendship with Todd/TSJ. And as old is Bo And Nora r they became the supercouple after again. Clint and Vicky well when they turned Clint to another Asa Buchanan doing Asa's manipulating shit they (writers) just using the same old lines with different character (Nat is Tina, Jessica is Vicky)......Van and John was refreshing to watch. We as their fans didn't want to let them go. They were gold standard for their time and its a shame it didn't go any further. But know matter what the Jolie fans got Van and John was the walk that talk that talked. Their chemistry put them out there and it didn't go away.🙂
Sometimes the writers and producers think they know what's best for the show and they don't listen to the actors nor the audience and that's how shows get canceled.
@1lightqt I WAS PISSED when I heard that traliler trash red haired girl said yesterday. I think that TIIC did it on purpose to make us JOVAN' fans mad. They act like that she never existed. Remember what John's said about his past realationships, that the women he was involved with never lied to him, they were honest. I was happy about b/c it's like he referred toCaitlin and Vange. It was really subtle though.

Soaps are dying out and people are looking for more realistic programming in television storylines and including diverse characters and relationships. Even the B&B has a better story but they also replaced a good mixed couple Thomas and Dayzee. Their chemistry was 🔥
