Well I went ahead and bought this kit based on your recommendation and I have to admit it's so much neater than that clumsy contraption I had before. I followed your instructions to the book, how to measure up etc and then put it together and hey presto a perfect fit on my van. Well pleased with it. Great video Dan and thank you. Keep up your good work.
Hi Dan, just installed my kit. When I measured the gap between the outlets it was -3mm!!!!!! After a bit of cutting it fitted beautifully. Much better than the old Y-piece I’ve been using. Thanks for the tip. Kenny
Hello Dan, new to caravanning having bought it on 29 Feb 2020! Haven't been away in it yet. On the plus side I found your channel which I have been studying throughout the lockdown. A real gem of a find and I cant thank you enough. Bought and fitted our new waste pipe connection today. Looks brilliant and also very practical. Thankyou.
A massive help thanks! Straight after watching this I went straight on Amazon and purchased the kit £4.99 so yeah a bargain. Watched quite a few of your vids now and I must admit they're all very helpful and informative. Once again, thanks and keep up the good work, much appreciated.
Hi Dan, Ive been using thst set up for two years and it works well. Wr were on a fully serviced pitch at Chertsey so I just slid my white pipes onto the grey and adjusted for length. But glad you gave a warning, as I did split one join when I originally put it togethet, but its still working well. Just needed to adjust the distance between the two outlet pipes when we bought the Buccaneer.
Used the old method from start of caravanning. Never failed yet. Thanks Dan for the Info but will stick to tried and trusted method. By the way. I love the flat cap. You could almost pass as a Yorkshireman, you just need a ferret now as a pipe cleaner.
Well good to see ya Dan :-) I fitted the exact same thing last year, the van is on a seasonal pitch so i shoved a length of UPVC pipe on the end, dug a hole about 3 foot deep, filled said hlole with gravel and created our own little "soak-away" We did the site-owners permission before-hand.
Great video, again, who would dislike this video. Thanks for producing these videos. We are hoping to get our first caravan this year and your videos really help!
Hi Dan we were new t caravanning last year and have been using this kit from the beginning, its a great piece of kit and fits so well on our basecamp I've driven over 150 mile with it still in the waste outlet when i forgot to take it out when we packed up and was surprised to see it still in place when we got home
Just been watching your videos, very informative and interesting as always. I have been caravaning since I was 20 something and am now 60, 61 this year and find I am still learning tips and tricks.. I have just ordered the toque screwdriver set for cleaning toilet heckie roof and now the waste solid pipe tip as I too had made a B & Q fix for the double outlet. All the best. Oh Not sure of your name so I have called you Keith as you look like my wife’s brother.lol.
Hi Dan, great video once again. I purchased the kit and tried out for 1st time last week on site. So much better than the rubbish Y piece supplied by the dealer, fits like a glove.
Hello Dan I made one of these last year but I used another right angle fitting and some more pipe to run it directly into the waste tank without the flex pipes. It works well and looks neater.
Really enjoyed that video I know you have to try and please all sorts of people but this is why I follow you for these little very informative videos thanks for this one
High Dan hope you had a good start to new year, I brought the pipe work for the waste water and it works a treat for me . Well dune mate for finding this . I got mine from amazon for £ 4:99 free post. Thanks mate again
Nice job Dan👍🏻 thanks for the little tip on testing the pipe in the connectors first to get the exact size, just about to do this on ours ready for the summer season.
Great video Dan, Sure is better than the one I currently have ....... so that's another purchase on the list. In the words of the late great Ian Dury ....... "what a waste !"
Hi, used this kit before I found your video. You missed the use of the other 90* bend. Rather than using the unstable flexi tubing, measure (100mm) out of the straight tube cut and fit this from the T to the bend, fit the remaining length of straight tube to the other end and adjust length as required to go straight into waste container on a level surface, allowing about 30-50mm to go into tank. Much more secure and tidier. As shown on the picture of the kit. If on a slope/elevated or uneven site, flexi tube may needed to ensure no leakages. If you want I can photograph and upload my system if this will clarify. If necessary use a small amount of silicon spray to ease assembly.
Thank you for a great tip Looking for something neater than the one I have. Just a point at the end of the video about gluing it together, much easier to take apart and clean if you don’t 😀
HI Keith, so after a couple of years of this set up, i must admit cleaning it is a doddle. I just run it under a hot tap with some disinfectant and it cleans up lovely. To be fair, i didnt even pull it apart. Take care Dan
I found the kit at a site a while ago. I used both elbows so the feed pipe to the wastemaster comes away from under the van as on a sloping site the wastemaster would not go under the van. I too used a piece of normal waste pipe to join the kit to the wsastemasrer
Nice video doing what you usually do, making improvements. I have one the same as your old one and I think I may just update to your type for good measure. Well done. Bernie
Great vid as always, Dan! 👍🏻 I finally invested in one at the end of 2017 and am well chuffed with it, much neater job than the flexi and 2-1 we were using before. Also, you can obviously buy all the joints separately, so I got another 90° to drop into the wastemaster. Last spring I also invested in a 3m length of 28mm pipe and some more fittings to add to the same kit for when we’re on a serviced pitch, although typically we’ve not been on one since 😂 Keep up the great work guys, Simon.
Hi dan nice to see u bak again doing what u know best nice bit of kit will b ordering myself one now I've seen this video better than the old way thanks dan cheers .kev
Thank you Dan, another great video. I’ve ordered mine. Top tip on how to measure the pipe as well, looking forward to fitting and using mine on our Bailey too. Best wishes for 2019.
I use that kit Dan. The only thing I would add is that the kit comes with a two right angles. I use the second to secure the pipe down into the wastemaster. The size of the straight grey pipe is sufficient enough to cut three pieces in total and therefore no need for flexi hose.
Hi Tony, we were thinking of doing the same, but in the end i chose not to do this as the flexi pipe acts as a trombone slider : pull back to remove WasteMaster, push forward to insert etc. We did this over Christmas and it works really well. it also means it will work with my serviced pitch kit etc. Take care
@@TheTrudgians Do you know what Dan, that does like a better set up. I think I'll give it a try when we're next out. Roll on Feb Half Term... All the best Dan to you and the family.
Nice one Dan! I've been using what you used to use but this looks better and I'm sure I can connect to the extended pipes I have for those super pitches too if I'm lucky!
We are about to buy a caravan. I purchased these, but was wondering what sizes flexi pipe would be best to fit these. If you could let me know that would be fantastic. Ps Love your channel 😃😃
Nice one Dan just what I've been looking for that'll be on my next Amazon order. My diy skills are rubbish so may have to get a saw like yours. Best wishes Jon
Dan, love the connection kit but I have three outlets, two on the front of our twin axle wheels and the other behind. any ideas on how to use this kit.
Hi, Dan good vid as always, looks a lot neater than what you had before may even use it myself? anyway, when are we going to see your videos on your purchasing and collection of your new caravan?
I love your videos. As I am an absolute beginner forgive me for the silly question. Why people connect these two pipes and dont just feed them both into waste master? The hole seems big enough.
I have the same kit on our van but found that if connected directly to waste outlets as you have done then when you release a full sink of washing up water then the waste water can reappear in the shower tray due to the sharp angles and not much run off. I found that if the outlets are extended with a bit of flexi hose then this seems to then work OK!
Hi Phil, Just so I understand correctly - the water coming from the sink is pushing back up this connection kit and into the shower? I have heard this happening to others too - and I think there is a spacer that you can buy to lower one of the outlets to prevent the "back wash" Thanks for the heads up - i will look out for this, but so far so good. its been working really well. Dan
Hi Dan lad that's brill much better than the corrugated one ive got,as they are difficult to push in,what size is the pipe and maybe a good tip ,use a tadge washing up liquid inside of the pipe then slide together easy, thanks again Dan.
Just goes to show. Sometimes we think we can make something cheaper and just as good... Not always. I bought one of these and an extension kit for when a small site doesn't mind running to the hedge etc.. Whole lot cost £20.00. At first I thought waste of money. Not now 😊😊
Dan. I put the other elbow on the end of the pipe and angled it down after cutting the length a bit shorter. then used the cut off length to go into the opening of the Wastemaster. No need for flexi pipe then but can be added if you go on a serviced pitch. Nick
Morning Jan, i did consider this at the time, and after using it over Christmas, im quite liking the flexi sleave. pull it back to remove from the waste master and pull forward to insert into the wastemaster etc. It will also make it easier to connect onto my service pitch kit etc. Take care Dan
This newbie had the grey waste pipe kit connected incorrectly. Wondered what the 'T' part was for! Will rejig my pipes and things will flow - no 'back siphonage' again! 👍
Hi Dan. Good video on the water pipe fix. I did my new van the exact same but I am getting a back flow up into shower tray when emptying kitchen or bathroom bowl. Didn't do it with my last van. This one only and it is only six month old. Have I missed something out on your video I wonder. Any ideas Dan?
Old post but I just found the same thing happened with this connector on our van last week. Changed back to the y shape connector and no problems. Shame as it’s compact and fits nicely.
Great idea on the waste. Would you be able to do a review or provide tips on caravan covers. We are on our 1st winter with our caravan and new to this. We have just got a caravan cover but fitting looks rather tricky. Are they worth it?
Hi, thats a good question. we dont own or use a cover for winter as we are always away and using the caravan etc. It might be better to ask another vlogger that does use a cover for their feedback. - im thinking of Caravan Nut - Martin recently covered his caravan, so pop over to his channel and ask him. Hope that helps.
Justin Grunwald If there were a blockage or, even just an airlock, the waste water could back up. The effect of this may be that your washing up water, complete with soggy toast crumbs, might regurgitate into the lowest point in the caravan drainage system, namely the shower tray! Ugh!
@@conifer8026 I disagree on the grounds the two systems would yield the same circumstance. At present you will have 2 outlets from the bathroom, 1 shower, 2 sink. These will join below the van via a Y piece and then run as a single pipe to one of the two outlets at the side, (or rear) of the van. Dan's method, (along with numerous alternative designs) now has these two outlets merging, via this waste pipe, into one pipe which goes into the waste master. Now lets suppose we remove the two brackets from the van, merge the pipes into one below the van and fix this now single pipe to a single outlet on the side of the van. Both methods are using only one single pipe in the final outlet, so whats the difference that Dans method will be ok, but if a manufacturer uses only one outlet, it might flood the shower? Further I doubt there would be enough volume of water from the kitchen sink after washing breakfast dishes, (toast crumb soaked or otherwise) to travel as far back as the shower tray. Although you might secure a blockage if you soaked the actual toast, but you would notice the water wasnt going down in the sink long before it reached the shower tray!
Thanks Dan - another good old fashioned tutorial. Excellent as ever. Would this then match up with the larger B&Q pipes in the old serviced pitch “trombone” pipe arrangement? I too have same white pipework set up as your old one.
This is something I want to do with my own caravan. I will make a video when I eventually get round to it. My Lunar has 3 outlets so I'd need an extra T piece. Is it possible to buy individual parts to suit?
Hi Dan, Thank you for another great and importantly, useful video. I have a different issue with my Bailey waste pipes. Ours is a side kitchen/end washroom and the kitchen sink and washroom basin both feed into one outlet on the side of the van. Annoyingly, the shower had a separate outlet at the back of the van. Not wanting to carry another waste hog, I have to keep moving it about. However, I would prefer to move the shower outlet so they are both together. I did consider joining the basin and shower waste pipes together but I think that would give me water level and capacity issues. In the video you mention the the stanard waste pipe is probably 28mm. Is this easy to get hold of in longer lengths? Keep up the good work. Regards Chris
Hi Dan, I have the same waste pipe and going on a service pitch soon, please could you tell me if you still use your trombone system or are you all 28mm grey for service pitch? Love the vids regards to all.Bob.
Seems a lot of faffing about to me? I just bought a standard flexible waste pipe Y piece and pushed the flexible hose on all 3 ends. As it’s flexible it opens out or closes up to accommodate any spacing of outlet connectors and the third end that goes into your waste tank can be replaced with a longer section if you wish to run it into a drain or whatever. Cost pennies years ago when I bought it, it’s been on a couple of different vans since then. Enjoying your videos though 👍
Hi I have just bought an Avondale Dart caravan and want to put a pipe from the toilet waste directly into a drain... is thera video or help somebody can offer please? thanks
Hi John, for us we wouldn't see any benefit on a Safe Fill system, so there is little point us purchasing the system for no benefit. If we used more gas, i think it would be a good choice. Hope that helps Dan
Hi, thats a good question. The only reason I can think of is if the kitchen sink gets blocked, and in that case (if a single outlet was used) waste would bubble back and start to rise into the lowest point - in most cases, this being the shower. So separating the various outlets hopefully mitigates this issue. Maybe thats why European vans don't do it, as generally they don't have showers like the UK style caravans? It's a good thought though, and now has me pondering....... Hope that helps.
@@TheTrudgians I cant see a problem running them all into one. After all thats exactly what youve done with your adaptor to single flexi pipe at the two outlets!
Hi Dean, yes this also came with 2 right angle. but i decided not to use it. Instead the flexi pops on the end, and slides up and down to allow the WasteMaster to be removed with ease, and also allow the serviced pitch kit to slide on too. Hope that helps Dan
If the van is level how will all the water drain ? Obviously the force of the water will force most to drain but I think you will get standing water, if the van is slightly nose down it won’t drain.
Morning, the waste outlets are set slightly lower than the floor of the caravan, so all pipework will have a small decline to allow water to drain away, etc. If the van is nose down then waste water would struggle to get to the outlets, hence why its quite important to make sure the caravan is as level as it can be. Of course, there are other reasons why a level caravan is important, but this is one good example. Using it over Christmas, we suffered no standing water issues - in fact when it was time to remove it, it was drier and less mucky than the previous version. I hope this helps
Going to give this a go later! I’m a total newbie to this caravan malarkey so this should be really helpful

Although you might secure a blockage if you soaked the actual toast, but you would notice the water wasnt going down in the sink long before it reached the shower tray!
Dan, dont glue it. It will make life easier for cleaning. Good vid, thanks.
Hi Mike, exactly what i thought.
Thanks Dan - another good old fashioned tutorial. Excellent as ever.
Would this then match up with the larger B&Q pipes in the old serviced pitch “trombone” pipe arrangement? I too have same white pipework set up as your old one.
Hi Howard, yes it does. I use the section of flexi to insert into the smaller bore of the white trombone, and it works fine.
Hope that helps
The Trudgians thanks Dan best wishes to all the T’s for 2019
This is something I want to do with my own caravan. I will make a video when I eventually get round to it. My Lunar has 3 outlets so I'd need an extra T piece. Is it possible to buy individual parts to suit?
Yes, they are standard 28mm parts, you can easily purchase these from DIY centres such as B&Q or Wicks etc.
Hi Dan,
Thank you for another great and importantly, useful video.
Regards
Chris
So easy even I cant mess it up.
Hi I have just bought an Avondale Dart caravan and want to put a pipe from the toilet waste directly into a drain... is thera video or help somebody can offer please? thanks
Dan why don’t you do a program on the safe fill bottles?
Hi John, for us we wouldn't see any benefit on a Safe Fill system, so there is little point us purchasing the system for no benefit. If we used more gas, i think it would be a good choice.
Hope that helps
Dan
Hi Dan, nice job, it looks neater than the one I made up. Will see how mine works this year and might change it. Cheers Martin 👍
Cheers Martin. yep - my old one is now in the bin. Happy new Year to you.
Hi Dan. I wonder why caravans made in UK have different drains for sink, shower etc. Here in Europe we have all conected in one exit pipe.
Hi how do you put smaller pipes on say a elddis auto quest ?
Hi Peter, head on over to the Colapz website, they have a universal motorhome connection kit, that can cater for many outlet sizes for motorhomes.
Ive purchased the same type but mine has another angled bend for the end section and 28m fitting.
Hi Dean, yes this also came with 2 right angle. but i decided not to use it. Instead the flexi pops on the end, and slides up and down to allow the WasteMaster to be removed with ease, and also allow the serviced pitch kit to slide on too.
Hope that helps
Dan
@@TheTrudgians thanks Dan I will do the same with mine ready for service pitches.
Hi DAN. It's not "the floor" it's the GROUND.
You better glue it together if you don't need to take it splitted.
Dan is that 28mm ID or OD?
28mm ID on the connectors. the supplied pipe is 28mm OD.
The Trudgians thanks Dan, glad it works
👍😃...l hope that you show us a waste master, l don't know what one is.
Ha, yes im doing a series fo videos focusing on the various services. stay tuned for that.
Dan
@@TheTrudgians Thank you for the heads up Dan 😊
Don’t push too hard or hit with a hammer. I did crack a elbow by trying to force it too hard
