- I went on the street to test out the widest lens for the Sony E-Mount I ever used, the Laowa 10mm f2.8 Zero-D. For this test, I am using my Sony A7S III full-frame camera and a DJI RS3 Mini Gimbal. bdn.li/10mmf28ff

Also, I made a training course for the DJI Pocket 3! pocket.video/cinematic-course
Still watching, that phone booth shot sold me. There's some harsh vignetting though.
im genuinely obsessed with the look from this lens
I was excited about this lens when it was announced. So very cool to see what you do with it. But man you are a human gimbal, so smooth!!!
Woot, was waiting for you to cover this. Great for unique shots
I just used your SmallRig iPhone Rig on my iPhone 15 Pro Max to do time-lapses at Sydney Harbor, and WOW, it was so easy to set up, use, and tear down! You (and SmallRig) deserve an award for that cage!!! Bravo!!!! BTW I purchased a lifetime sub to Audiio; great music, too, that I use on my eBay ads!
What an interesting look. I need this lens in my repertoire. Thanks for this.
Love your work Brandon
Those café shots look almost Wes Anderson. Love the look. ✨
This lens would be perfect for real estate videos🎉
too wide, even the 12mm is too wide at times
@@HuyRebel this is good for small rooms to make them look bigger..Real estate agents would love this
Always a pleasure to atch your videos. Just came back rom Chiangmai and really like how you captured the city.
Chiang Mai
Thanks for sharing it. ✌️
This was a fantastic video. I'm actually considering getting this now
Looks like a really fun lens!
always wanted a wide lens like this, just looks so fun
It’s not just for fun. It gives a huge new perspective. Testing it as I wrote here. Fast AF, sharp, straight lines, very little vignetting, close min focus and I have even shot group shots without distortion. Must buy.
Well come to Chiang Mai , Nice review
Sooo good. And stems coming soon for Creator and Enterprise plans 🤘
your shots are inspiring
Nice review, short intro and straight to the point. 😀
Brilliant travel vlogging lens for when you're walking and talking. Awesome video.
OK - just my opinion but the beginning "vlog" look - looked AMAZING with this lens - you could see al the stuff behind you and it was smooth it looked like you were floating in some of the shots!
Great video. Thanks for putting it out. When you were walking around with the gimbal on you in the beginning of the video, do you recall what F stop you were using?
ありがとう。
参考になりました。
My dream lens!!!!!!!
This is awesome 👀
Amazing lens! Distortion is very acceptable 🙂 Love this wide stuff
Looks cool.
Nice video! Letterboxing really does change the footage a lot - still not sure I need one but I still want one 😊.
These images are awesome :) Also you can use filters.. impressive
Love your natural Vibe in your videos! Do you sell your luts?
I have the Laowa 15mm f2 Zero D and it is brilliant.
That is a very useful lens
Hey Brandon! Is it possible for you to do a vertical orientation segment? Currently I'm using the Canon RF 16mm for some reels content and I wonder how 10mm would look like.
It looks almost unreal. Zero-D gives effect kinda like minature world.
Does this lens work with Gyro stabilization or dynamic active stabe?
What was that tripod under the gimbal in the cafe shot?
Hi Brandon, does this lens have a smooth aperture change when shooting video in shutter priority mode?
GooD!!!
Looks like a nice lens, but I have a Fuji XH2s and I don't think they make it for that platform yet. I have a 10mm F2.0 Viltrox (manual focus) that fits my XH2s. the Viltrox is also rectilinear, and it gives the same kind of image as this Lawoa.
I would pick up for my real estate vid's.
Did you have active stabilization turned on while shooting from the gimball?
Would that work with an apsc? How would the focal lenght translate?
Dude, that shirt!!!!!!🔥
Javelin NYC
Sounds promising, Getting one for the Z mount in the future!
Just a quick question
What was the shutter speed on the sony during that iphone comparison? The footage looked weird and jittery.
1/50
@@BrandonLiUnscripted Got it. I often face this issue of footage feeling jittery or mechanical when shooting at 1/50. Especially when there is movement of the person I'm recording. Is this because of readout speeds and rolling shutter?
Great color grading!!! Do you have a tutorial or sell luts?
Thanks! I didn’t do any grading
seems like you could take more advantage of the e stabilization of something like the S5ii - and get an effective crop in the 18 to 20ish range - including a 4K 60p crop - that'd be neat to see of you could do a hand held real estate job (video) with it and ditch the gimble.
Even with heavy crop you’ll still be ultra-wide..for instance, if you crop about 30% you’ll have approximately a 13mm lens
I love this lens when letterboxed but does a 10mm lens really need autofocus? 😉
and which do you prefer? this or samyang 18mm? thanks for the review Brandon 🤟
18mm is a more useful focal length. This is a specialty lens
Nice lens
How this lens performs with VND Filters? Is there a visible vignetting? Thanks man!
I used a vnd for the daytime shots. I don’t think it caused vignetting but the weird polarization is really visible because the lens is so wide
@@BrandonLiUnscripted Thanks bro! Is it a cross polarization? By the way I've watched the video of Chris Brockhurst with the same lens using Polarpro with step up ring. Thank you for your feedback bro!
With that hat, your video outros should always be that scene of indiana jones where the wall is closing in on him and he drops his hat but then he grabs it right before it gets crushed
Haha
Nd filters?
That "micro breathing" pulse on the corners when autofocus is on, is a no for me. Have the same problem on the Sigma 14-24mm and A7sIII, but I can see with this 10mm is even worse.
Thanks Brandon for the video
Pretty sure Sony never tested their ibis on a 10mm lens lol
2:42 literally looks like a videogame cutscene
Laowa , please do Auto Focus for Canon RF, just moved out from SONY 😭
The canon rf mount version doesn't support autofocus.
😍😍😍
Good video. All the footage looks not really sharp. Either autofocus issue or just the lens. Maybe this lens is just not that sharp. What do you think?
Maybe you weren't streaming the video in 4k ?
Bro…now I miss Thailand :(
ho this phone cabin at Chiang Mai ...
Wow, this one is so looooud. A very loud lens. Baiscally can't use it for video.
Honestly, this movement and lens FoV make me a little motion sensitive.
How much brands pay you?😊
What's the name of this city?
I believe it is Chiang Mhai, Thailand
Might be a solid option for real estate
Honestly I think the lens would make the rooms look too big..gotta be somewhat honest
@@BrandonLiUnscriptedwow, thanks for the feedback. 12mm it is then!
Wellp, looks like im buying another lens...
✌...
looks like that fallen angels lens!
close it down to f5.6-8 and you don't need AF
why not just go with the Sony E 11mm f/1.8 Lens ?
Crop sensor.
Seen many reviews now about this lens.
It seems to me that the colors are dead and the rendering as flat as a pancake.
Nice to have 10mm but it costs.........
Not my cup a tea.
Is it just me or does the lens seem mad soft?
If so, I'd guess it's a focus issue. Any critical sharpness testing I've seen has exhibited great sharpness, in the center. And at 5.6 and up, it's sharp throughout.
It might be the lens of course, but it seems to me that you've lost weight. I hope you're doing alright.
Love your video Brandon but I am quite worried lately as you look more and more unhealthy in your recent videos.. Hopefully it’s just in my head
I own the 9mm Laowa FE - I don't think your 10mm is the "widest lens for FE".
Would've liked to see actual pictures, not everyone is doing video.
I suggest going to a photography channel for that
