Another great job of restoration on the Guy flat bed Lorry I like the load it’s carrying.
Absolutely brilliant job Martin!!! Love the lighter green, seems to be a bit more traditional with the red. And we know you “give a $#!+” because of the wonderful tips and tricks you always give us in every one of your videos.
Thanks very much ,yes apologies for that ,of course I care 😀 just mouth in gear before brain 🧠 all the best Martin 👍
Love the old Guy truck nice model and the light green and red look good being new I am getting lots of tips
Another great job on another cool classic, I'm looking forward to next week's donations purchases and gifts have a good one Martin ✌️😎
Lovely stuff! I reckon thats a pretty authentic looking green shade ....... There were a lot of those 'faded' sort of shades around, way back when. She looks a treat 👌🏻👏🏻👍🏻
Martin that looks amazing and love the MG-TF on the back ❤
Nice job Martin, a lovely neat restoration on the Guy Flat bed colour's you used really suit it well 👍👍
That green is much better than the original - and it looks more realistic. Good choice. I might have been tempted with a red line round and across the middle of the grille, in the old coachpainters' style, but it would have been fiddly.
And you are right, Martin: wee must! We can't have you 'not giving a shit!" Thanks for the share, again.
Hello Martin another great video and restoration my type of restoration nice and straightforward great paint work hope you and your family are keeping well regards Glyn
Cheers Glyn yep we are all doing good thanks I hope you and yours are the same
All the best Martin 👍

Good restoration, Martin job well done like the cab colour suits the decade it comes from thank you for another great video,,
Paul☘️☘️
Thanks for the video upload. I have loads of these old guys in the loft, flat beds, flat beds with tail boards and some of the bigger fodens. I think you might have tempted me to look them out and restore them.
Hi Chris, you go for it my friend and above all have fun ,give us a shout if you need some advice
All the best Martin 👍
👍Great choice in what green is best for the Guy truck, this type of truck does remind me of the old international cab overs of the 50’s, another good tip 👍on the axle ends getting mushroomed with a Dremel and a hammer, this truck has nice details especially adding the tag on the front, old car for a load 👍, carrying her to “Martin’s Restorations” ,nice touch 😊, you take care my friend, looking forward to your next restoration, see ya! 👋😎🚒🚙🚗
Thanks Jeff, yes it was difficult to find good colour pictures of this make a type of truck ,but iam glad you liked it
It turned out just a beauty, although at the beginning it was a nightmare :), a lot of patience and skill are needed 👍
Really nice work Martin, the MG is a nice touch, 😎👍
Thanks Tom, can't go round with an empty bed 😀 it's not a good look .
All the best Martin
Hi Martin nice job again ,recently done this one ,the original model had a rivet to hold the spare ,no thread ,but by the way ,a good job
Thanks for that information it's good to know and I appreciate it.
All the best Martin
Quality work Martin, I like these simple Dinky lorries they have that no nonsense look about them.
A simple straight forward restoration. Enjoy your channel every week. Cheers Chris 👍🏻🍻🏆🎯🇦🇺
Great result in the cricket 😂🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺😂

LOVE that new color, Martin! I'm planning out a kit bash right now, and that just might be my final call. 😁🙏👍🏻😎💗
Sweet reborn again 😊 as always enjoyed, I bought a New 1 of these some time back, the remade ones, sweet MG on the back looking forward to seeing you restore that 1😊
Cheers 🍺🍻KC 🇦🇺🤝🇬🇧😎👍✌
Another lovely restoration Martin, watching this one in Chester, been a while trying to get the video to load, the internet is very slow in the hotel but it was well worth the wait, I do love the green you used, it suits this lovely old model Guy lorry very nicely. Excellent job as always 👌👍😊 All the best, Nick🐸🐸
Thanks nick ,hey enjoy your holiday and happy hunting, look forward to seeing what you find 😀 All the best Martin
Love those old flatbeds Martin and the Green was spot on.
You’re right about the lack of old colour pics to work from on certain old vehicles. I found an App that can work out the colours in a black & white pic.
I had a colour pic of an old van so I copied it into B&W and loaded it into the app to test it and guess what ….?it actually worked. Not sure if the one I used was “Fotor's AI picture colorizer”
but there’s a few apps out there and it was a big help for my resto on an old Leland 8 legger.
Thanks very much my friend, I will definitely look into that 😀 app it's really appreciated 👍
I love to see you work on these old trucks in particularly, whether it be Dinky, Corgi, Lesney or whatever! There's just something about trucks and construction equipment like dozers, loaders, dumpers, etc that just brings out the kid in me! You always do such a nice job, Martin! I'm always so happy to see a new video from you, man!
Thanks loston,if you like construction stuff hopefully in July I will have something you will like 👍
@@martindaredare Looking forward to it, Martin! I have to say that I look forward to all of your videos!
I think the green that you used is actually more inkeeping with the age of the model . Dinky had some shocking colour combinations on some of there models . 👍
Apologies I got the names mixed up but yes dinky did some strange colour combinations.
All the best Martin 👍
Nice resto,Martin.I'd like to do a flatbed with chains on this casting! It would mean cutting down an eight wheel flatbed, but i think there are some white metal one's around,so not a problem.
Just like new again excellent colour choice I have a few old lone star cabs and trailers to do I might copy the green. M
Morning pal thought comment on base plate was a classic brilliant 😂
🤣 yep sometimes it just slips out .
Mouth Ingear before brain.
All the best Martin 👍
nice Guy, really. (phew, that pun is outta the way now) nicely designed, too. we continental dwellers rarely heard of a truck company named Guy... ^^
the original green reminded me of the colour they used to put on machines and steel drawers in dusty, smelly change rooms. I think it was called reseda green here. but you said it was too dark... the highland green looks better, not as dull and still time-correct. :)
Cheers Lothar, actually your right about the colour for the metal draws or cabinets I knew I had seen that colour before, Cheers for that and all the best Martin
@@martindaredare aye, the colour that yells "Workshop" into your face. :)
Great vid mate. Green a bit to light. Otherwise it a good job cheers Graham
Hi Martin this is a real Marvel. When i told the girls you were doing a big green guy with a red back they said "What, the hulk with sunburn". All the best from Ian B & family.
Hi mate that green looks really good with the red and the cab straitened up well. I've never seen one of these GUYS before I thought it was an ERF at first. Some blokes in the MG club would be crying if they saw the old MG going to the knackers yard.🤣😂 Speaking of the MG I took her for an 80Klm drive on Monday up into the Adelaide hills she went well. I was cruising at 90 Klms an hour feeling quite chuffed at the new gearbox when a Porsche 911 flew past as a blur overtook me on double white lines only to get stuck behind a truck up in front and then did it again to pass the truck. What a complete numpty.🤪 It's gone cold here now freezing in the mornings with frost on the grass. It's forecast for rain all week so no more drives for a while. That's South Australia for you frying eggs on your car bonnet one day and dodging hailstones the next.😫 Catch you on the next one mate.👍🏻🚗🚓🛺🚜🚒🚑
Hi Geoff, glad you liked it ,I struggled to find any decent pictures of this one .iam pleased to hear the MGs going well for you ,the porche driver got what he deserved 🤣🤣 it's been really hot here this week .
Take care buddy
Brilliant job as always Martin 👍👏👏 the colour green looks great when you think there must be hundreds of different shades of green
All the best
David
Thanks David your right there are lots of different shades it's finding one what suit's it best even the factory could be consistent withe shade of paint thay used .
All the best Martin
Another great restoration Martin, I love all these old Dinky and Corgi British trucks. That Highland green really is a nice colour. What type of chrome paint did you use for detailing? I was hoping we'd see you straighten the cab as I wondered if you would use any heat on it? I also noticed, when it was on the old magic roundabout, that you didn't replace the tow hook on the back, but another very enjoyable video, thanks for sharing it with us. Looking forward to next week's purchases and donations. All the best. Peter.
Hi Peter, the cab I just just tapped it with my plastic hammer just a bit because I didn't want to cracked the window pillers it's not perfect but it's better ,I chose not to replace the tow hook as I thought it wouldn't have had one in real life .
The paint I use is humbrol metal cotte aluminium it's in my opinion case to the colour used in the factory as its non matilc.
All the best Martin 👍
Morning Martin another fantastic restoration the screw you put in would it turn so the head of the screw line would be in line with the boards then painted red what you think 😊
Yes that's something to look at. Going forward, thanks very much my friend
Brilliant job. Was wondering where you get your tires, axes and thread flat screws.I have mostly military dinky vehicles and some need some work done to them . Any ideas of a paint match for them?
Hi Wayne, I get a lot of my stuff from ebay if you look under diecast vehicles then sub section parts and accessories you will find tryes rivets and so on ,the screws search ebay or amazon m2 or m3 screws and it should come up for you .
All the best Martin
martin by book has this down as 432 1958 to1964 never seen one in real life
That's correct Gordon it's an older one ,I had a job to find any pictures of this one .
All the best Martin
Great resto but didn’t you intend to replace the towhook ?.
Hi Bart ,yes I was but I thought about it and decided it looked better without it 🤔
Thanks for watching it's really appreciated my friend
I've not seen that style of Guy truck before. I like that shade of green. Very nice work. Looking forward to next week's video. Always interesting what you come up with.
Thanks very much ,it's all a bit last minute what I chose, I get a few out then look at them then change my mind ,you know how it is 🤣
All the best Martin
Great Idea Martin with this period car on the cargo bed. Beautifully complemented your brilliant restoration.
Cheers Paul, glad you like it my friend and all the best Martin
