Assuming 90 pts will do it (didn’t last year) we’ve so far earned 9% of the points we need. 5 of 46 games played is so far 11% of available matches. 2% deficit already! So already we’re behind. No panic though right? Like last year of course, our plodding start vs Leicester and Ipswich’s blistering starts was alright in Sept/ Oct wasn’t it? You can’t fail a promotion in Oct can you…. Stats are trends, trends creep up on you and become so hard to reverse. It’s like setting off on a long journey and losing ground early on, so hard to make it up….then you hit every red light and get stuck behind a tractor. (Or a tractor boys!) push harder and waste your gas. Too early to panic though…. Too late to be blasé also methinks.
I find it interesting how Solomon's weakness defensively gets overlooked, especially compared to other wide players like Gnonto and Ramazani. For me Gnonto on the left, Ramazani right and Aaronson as 10ish is a more balanced team if you want to use wingbacks and inverted wingers. Solomon likes to keep chalk on his boots and leaves that inside channel open in the current system. I'd prefer him running at tired defenders in the final 20 minutes of a game. Also Ampadu needs a rest and if we're being ruthless should make way for Tanaka for a bit. Gruev has been performing well and should keep his spot.
Tanaka for Gruev? Our most inform player? Is Ampadu suddenly untouchable? Being captain does not make you a certain starter. Pascal can take the armband. Remember Ampadu has not been great this season, Gruev has been better and much more consistent.
Cardiff’s results, although not good from a league standing point of view, haven’t been terrible. I don’t think any of those they lost would be described as bankers. Middlesbrough, Sunderland, Burnley and derby? With a draw at Swansea? They even pushed Southampton. They’ll be an implosion if we lose but Cardiff are in a false position, imo (ofc imo). I haven’t watched their games. Maybe their performances have been disappointing too?
@@JTBCPFC so don’t be surprised when they don’t. Because it’s not like there are lots of managers around right at the beginning of the season who can do a better job than someone who has a proven record of getting teams to 90 points in this league.
