What great timing!! The interest in this Beatle interview will be very high, given the Peter Jackson documentary “Get Back”. It also might be of very great interest to John Lennon’s family.
My brother was killed in the line of duty, basically ambushed in the same manner on December 8th, 2011. I became forever tied to this date and it was only because of this I rediscovered the lyrics and messages that John Lennon had brought to the world. Such a visionary. What a great rare find. Last month, an old teacher of mine, sold a cassete tape on an auction, here in Denmark, with an interview of John Lennon, he and his three schoolmates did, while John and Yoko was hiding in the countryside in Denmark. There was a few black and white photos too, while they were celebrating christmas, the danish way! 🙂 It was sold for 370.000 danish kroner, which is 71924,37 canadian dollars! So hurry up, and put those in a box in the bank - now that everybody knows, you have them!! 🙃

This is a marvelous find Alexander, there will be many who would love to have it. However, I would urge you to check the legal implications and that the BBC cannot claim any rights of ownership or copyright.
Hi Alexander. I agree with Karen. It's super exciting for you but, and there's that stinging little word ... I'm very nervous for you about copyright/broadcasting rights. Hope this works out well for you and Andy Peebles.
Don't know if you've seen my reply at the very top of the page, but I actually worked in the BBC department when they tapes were produced and sent out.
Oh.my.god. Surely you got this because you are such a mensch (Human Being)! Very few people in this world should be allowed to receive this. I’m only halfway in. But my throat is tight. My eyes are watering. I remember that day too well. What an amazing man you must have met. Excellent music as the background too.
A close family friend of ours (I was 15 when I was told this Im 50 now)her son was in the Quarrymen with John he left after contracting cerebral menigitus while in hospital he was visited by a lad from Speke Liverpool his name was a young George Harrison whom he did not know George visited out of the goodness of his heart. This gave me goosebumps when you told this story Alex.A great find,
As one of the many fans of the Beatles, I can say that this is probably the best find ever! I’m sure there are collectors out there who would love to be in possession of the tapes! Alas with my beer budget, all I can do is drool. 😂 I may also add, that you go beyond what is ever expected of a business man in this type of business. On more than one occasion you have paid for an item, knowing it must be worth more, and came back giving a fair amount back to the seller, above what you originally paid. There are not many who would do that. Not in you line of work. But I’ve also noted that because you have made this a practice, you have come out on top on many sales. My hat’s off to you! Keep doing what you do, and may you always be blessed!
What an awesome find for history!!! You were right place at the right time!!! Hope you sell to someone who appreciate them also! Love the live chats and updates on the house. Enjoy the holidays in the old house and love your awesome family ❤

That is absolutely amazing! We just watched the 3 day documentary special Get Back on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and it was fabulous, so very interesting, so your find is quite spectacular! Good for you Alexander!
Those tapes are an amazing find. You warm my heart Alex, that you contacted them and said you will split the money when you find the right buyer. Now that is going to take some detective work on your part. I know you are up to the challenge! Can’t to wait and hear about the next chapter in this story.
Man, what I wouldn't give. I was a baby when John was taken. Literally zero years old. But my gosh, through their music, his music, John touched me. I love him so much. Imagine if that great, creative mind hadn't been taken from us.
That is unbelievable! I remember that night so well. I dropped a glass that broke on the floor. I was cleaning it up and stepped on a piece of glass and hopped around for a bit. Ended up stepping on an open notebook and left a blood smear on the page I was writing on. I think I still have it somewhere.
Important to note that this isn't a rare recording. It's actually an edited version of something that was officially released unedited on a double CD set in 1990 and is still easily found on the second-hand market; prices vary from about £15 to £50. And it's not Lennon's last interview either; it was recorded two days before he died. His actual last interview was only a few hours before he died, with journalists Dave Sholin and Laurie Kaye.
Alex, please secure the tapes in a nearby bank box. I noticed the paper work you held up mentioned that the tapes were to be returned to BBC after broadcast. It also mentioned that they were to be used in strict accordance with the instructions in the tapes paper work. Be careful since a good Lawyer could try to seize them as property of the BBC. Not being negative here just trying help MY Favorite TH-cam family.
poessession is 9 10ths of the law. If the BBC have made no serious attempt to find or reclaim the tapes in 40 years I think we can consider them the property of their current custodians.
You are once again showing yourself to be a decent and honorable person, Alex, one of the many reasons I enjoy watching your shows. Happy Holidays to you and your family!
Alexander, I hope you have those under lock and key! They have historical value besides their monetary value. (Which you are aware of already) You need to use a high end (profile) auction house (Sotheby's etc ), if you auction them off. To me this is simply amazing! You could pay most of what you owe on your new house when you sell these. Good Luck! .
The tapes aren't worth remotely close to what you think they are. They are an edited dub of the interview, whereas the full-length unedited interview from a higher-quality source was released on a double CD set in 1990 and is still easily found on the second-hand marketplace for not very much money. A major Lennon fanatic might pay into the hundreds for them, but hundreds of thousands? Not a chance!
Wow, what timing. The Beatles: Get Back documentary just came out. I have been watching a bunch of Beatles TH-cam videos. I was a kid when they first came to the US and I remember when they were on the Ed Sullivan show. I imagine John’s son, Julian, would love to know about these recordings.
With the Get Back series on Disney + on the Beatles last “ concert” all filmed in 1969.. a huge success.. it might just be the right time for these tapes!! I hope they can eventually be shared.. Good find! I hope this really gets recognition!!
WOW just WOW!! What a find. I’m thinking Paul McCartney or Julian Lennon would love to have these. Alex you are truly blessed to find the things you find.
I grew up with the Beatles, and always loved John's music. I used to have his album imagine when I was a teenager wish I still had it but alas lost throughout the years. We sure had some good music artists in the 70s.
Hope you have a SAFE place to keep them. Such a great find!! Can hardly wait for updates. Like the idea of contacting Paul McCartney. I know you will do your best as always. God bless
Firstly wow to Andy Peebles. I can remember him on radio one back in the day. I always wondered where he went too. But a bigger WOW to the tapes.. Good luck and your a gentleman splitting the profits too. Please give Andy Peebles my very best and tell him that he gave me many hours of great listening on the radio back in the day
Great shirt to wear when you are sharing your John Lennon find! I am sure these tapes are worth a fortune. Here’s another example of you being a wonderful person👍 offering half of what you make to the previous owners
No, not worth a fortune, the BBC has ALL the original, un-edited recordings in their archive plus it was released on CD by the BBC years ago. How do I know? My first job after leaving school was with this very part of the BBC where these programmes and tapes were produced, copied and sent out.
@@garycritcher3009 but this isn't a copy on a cd, or even a copy of what was broadcast, if i understand correctly. so while there may be other copies with the same interview, being the actual tapes used by the bbc, wouldn't that make it more valuable?
@@Midlife_Manical_Mayhem exactly. I don’t understand why individuals think that because copies were made and distributed the original is the most valuable. What great timing!! The interest in this Beatle interview will be very high, given the Peter Jackson documentary “Get Back”. It also might be of very great interest to John Lennon’s family.
IMPRESSIVE! Thanks for being such a good steward of 'rare treasure'. People can trust you to handle their special memories . . . Love it!
My brother was killed in the line of duty, basically ambushed in the same manner on December 8th, 2011. I became forever tied to this date and it was only because of this I rediscovered the lyrics and messages that John Lennon had brought to the world. Such a visionary. What a great rare find. I would love to hear this in its entirety. Good luck.
It is SO refreshing to see that people like you still exist.. You don't preach morality, you PRACTICE it! And that's for me the most wonderful thing 👏
I have watched you for awhile, I really admire your honesty, generosity and integrity. I hope this original Beatles memorabilia finds a good home.
Fascinating find!!!! Excited to see how this unfolds.
Sounds like something that should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Contact them to see if they are interested.
All I can say is, "Alexander, you are truly one of a kind! They broke the mold when they made you!" You know what I'm referring to, who else would trun around and give up half of his profit!! Love you. Please, keep us posted.
Broke the mold 4 alot of us sweetie.
Alex as always you are the best example of a true human!! You not only look out for yourself but also for others.
And you do it so willingly! Stand tall we are all so amazed and proud of you!! Praying for an awesome outcome on this one!? Big hugs!
Alexander you are so generous & thoughtful to think of sharing the future proceeds of the recordings! Godspeed and blessings on all your endeavors!
The things that you find!!!! Bravo for wanting to share the profit! You are a good man!
*******OMG, Alex!! You are one of the most generous person I have ever seen! Honest, very kind-hearted and considerate to others...God bless you and your beautiful family, pal! Those reels will sell for a lot, maybe more than you expect.*******
I remember hearing it on the radio as I was doing laundry. The whole laundromat was stunned and then weeping. John Lennon will live in many hearts forever. All I can say is research is in order and maybe a lawyer. Good Luck!
You can tell how excited you are when, (for the first time I’ve known) you don’t say,”Bye for now”
Yes he did say it, watch again.
I'm afraid the BBC DOES still own the copyright on this recording.
@@garycritcher3009 Never considered the importance of BBC ownership. Good catch.
Don't know if you've seen my reply at the very top of the page, but I actually worked in the BBC department when they tapes were produced and sent out.
Yes, that is what worries me too.
Oh.my.god. Surely you got this because you are such a mensch (Human Being)! Very few people in this world should be allowed to receive this.
I’m only halfway in. But my throat is tight. My eyes are watering. I remember that day too well.
What an amazing man you must have met.
Excellent music as the background too.
I would get that into a safe deposit box ASAP!
I was a memorabilia broker in the 1990’s and early 2000’s. I sold John Lennon white suit to a private.collector for many many thousands of $$$.
You can sell those for a lot of money through Sothebys or a private collector.
Hi Kathy, if you have any contacts let me know… I honestly am just trying to figure out where to go with them. :)
@@CuriosityIncorporated I’ll check with some collectors I’m still in touch with and will let you know.
Worth $100-$150, the BBC retains the original, unedited recording in their archive plus it was released on CD a few years ago too.
@@garycritcher3009 Not the same thing and a collector will pay a lot more because of the age, what it comes with as well as it being a set. You can't call up BBC and buy what Alex has therefore it is rare. Buying the CD would be like buying a (new) remake of an old car.. it's just not the same.
You got gold in your hands. Way to go.
How lucky you are to have these tapes. I went to the Beatles first concert in California and will forever remember that night. John was my favorite. Thank you for sharing.
Wow! That’s amazing! Hope it does well in auction for you & the disc jockey you’re sharing the profit with. You are so generous & hardworking that’s why you continue to be blessed.
When you said the date everything flashed back and my eyes started leaking!!
Mine too.
OH Alex there is one thing we can never say about you is that you are boring. You are a good man. Aileen ❤️❤️
Wow!!! That’s amazing!! I hope they get copies and preserved. My son is a huge Beetles fan!! Since he was a teen he liked their music. What a great find!!
What a cool find!! Interesting to see what path these tapes will follow!!! 💖💖💖💖💖💖
You have such a kind heart, Alex. That's why I like your channel so much. I also think you should try Christy's or Sothebys. These are worth so much more than anyone thinks!
Alexander this is why you are so blessed
That is absolutely amazing! We just watched the 3 day documentary special Get Back on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and it was fabulous, so very interesting, so your find is quite spectacular! Good for you Alexander!
You always do the right thing, Alexander!
Wonderful show keep it up I love the way you're keeping up with your home one day at a time
Wowza! What a discovery, congratulations.
VERY COOL FIND AND AMAZING BIT OF HISTORY.
They are priceless! I think they belong into an museum 🤐
What an amazing find! Please tell me that you have these stored in a safe somewhere. Looking forward to seeing what these tapes bring. Well done!
The right person will pay tons for those. I agree you need a bigger auction house for those tapes.
You're integrity is pretty stellar. I'm glad you're on TH-cam. God bless
Amazing, absolutaly amazing.
Wow Alex that is an amazing find. I got teary-eyed. Love the story attached to them. ❤💔
Edmonton , Alberta . Gateway to the North !
The BBC might be the endorsement that takes your find to the TOP Kudos to you !
Hard to comprehend that John has been gone longer than he was here.
Awesome Alex thank you for sharing...u Rock ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Alex, please secure the tapes in a nearby bank box. I noticed the paper work you held up mentioned that the tapes were to be returned to BBC after broadcast. It also mentioned that they were to be used in strict accordance with the instructions in the tapes paper work. Be careful since a good Lawyer could try to seize them as property of the BBC. Not being negative here just trying help MY Favorite TH-cam family.
Good point. Legally they might still be owned by the BBC.
I scrolled down until I saw your post to add this reply in full agreement. Those instructions from the BBC seem to be the key, here.
The recording IS still owned by the BBC.
I agree, you should have a lawyer look into the ownership issue. BBC can certainly assert their ownership rights, but not sure of if has expired.
poessession is 9 10ths of the law. If the BBC have made no serious attempt to find or reclaim the tapes in 40 years I think we can consider them the property of their current custodians.
I remember that. I was 20 yrs old & loved them.
In Winnipeg there was an actual one of a kind John Lennon interview found last year, this isn't in the same stratospheric realm of valuation.
Definitely Southerby's ‼️‼️‼️‼️good luck Alexander 💕🙏
You’re such a nice man. To share the profit with the original owners. Tender hearted businessman, wow.
You are once again showing yourself to be a decent and honorable person, Alex, one of the many reasons I enjoy watching your shows. Happy Holidays to you and your family!
awesome find. super vlog. love it
Nova is enjoying
Thank you, Alexander, for keeping John Lennon's memories alive. ❤
I appreciate the shirt you chose to wear to make this video!
*Edit to add* and then you mention the shirt 😂
I was thinking the same thing as I watched this. Lol
These aren’t the original recordings. This is a copy for mass distribution to various markets.
I grew up with the Beatles, and always loved John's music. I used to have his album imagine when I was a teenager wish I still had it but alas lost throughout the years. We sure had some good music artists in the 70s.
Excellent historical content. Thank you
Hope you have a SAFE place to keep them.
Auction would be best but you need to find a specialist auction house that has a world wide audience. There will be many people who would want to buy these tapes from all over the world.
Look at the price difference between the reproduction of Coca Cola items and the actual authenticity of an original item. Worlds apart in the amount of value.
It IS the broadcast, it was edited by the BBC after recording, plus they hold the entire original unedited recording in their archive, plus they own copyright too.
@@Midlife_Manical_Mayhem Alex actually says that they are a copy, not the original tapes...the BBC will still have them.
Yes the first thing I thought of is the BBC's going to want them back they are priceless wish your family the best your house is going to be beautiful
You are a great example of we reap what we sow..... you are constantly benefitting from the good deeds you do... there is much in your bank that God has yet to give you... ..
Good timing too with the Get Back documentary recently being released! 👌
Very cool find! Major piece of music/world history right there. 👍👍
Those recordings will b worth a fortune look forward 2 c how much, John Lennon was my favourite. Thanx for that 👍 peace ✌
Alex, I'm checking with some DJ friends of mine and will also contact Jimmy Jack Whitaker who has The Jimmy Jack Foundation. Jimmy Jack played with The Eagles, Johnny Cash, and other well known musicians. I would say Sotheby's would be the place to auction this collection.
