I've watched the BBC's story of Yukina's transformation into a Maiko, plus her debut and it was so much for formal then Mameteru's here. They were both in Kyoto right?
Yes, they both are from Kyoto, but they are from different districts (Yukina works in Miyagawa-cho and Mameteru in Gion Kobu). Mameteru went through all of the same formalities as Yukina, every district does, but they just didn't show them in this documentary.
This video series is very informative and I love the inside look at the okiya, and the girl is adorable... but, did anyone else find it amusing that the production company chose to use "Good King Wenceslas" as the background music? Good video though!
Love Kotoha a lot and i'm sad that she's not a geiko anymore ... Want to see more of Tsuruha (Ayana-chan) ;)

I have a question what is the hair piece that has alot of metal dangly things called?
how come kotoha wasn't in any of the documentary? i know she was in the tama okiya and suzuha was her onesan.
I just love the sincerity and genuine awe the new girl has for geisha culture.....I can't to see her blossom into a beautiful geisha.
A Man and Boys in an okiya? How is that possible? I thought it's never allowed for men except the dresser to enter the okiya.
