Be careful with how thick it is though I think it could blow up in the kiln? Maybe make it hollow and poke a hole at the bottom

Try small scratches into the surface of the clay (scratch and scoaring technique) and the part of the clay you want to stick on you can also use a little bit of water after scratching into the surface of the clay to hold it in place so it stays on.
