Not really, the camera is cheap, my Note 3 takes way better pictures than the LG. And it is not post processing, its the glass of the lens of inferior quality. I take a lot of photos from macros to landscape and the Samsung phone from 2013 takes better pictures, sharp crisp rich colors.
It indeed does have an FM tuner as does my V20. So did my Note 3 and a few other phones in the past. TH-cam reviewers, even the best of them, rarely mention it as part of their review. Go figure. It might be a generational thing. Just a guess
Great real world review! I've watched a ton of V30 reviews, and most people just do a feature run down. Yours is more about real world use, which I appreciate.
The downside of the removable battery is absence of water resistance. My V20 was totally damaged by water recently. A portable battery pack is a good alternative to the removable battery.
LG V20 And Axon 7 Dude agreed. I have no idea why they took away the IR blaster. I understand about the non removable batter because of wireless charging but it should have come with fast wireless charging
Great common sense real world experience review. Being a V30 fan is an uphill battle sometimes. Reviews sometimes report display problems in low light low brightness settings. I watched this video in a dark room at 24% brightness. It looks so good. No inconsistency of any kind. Connectivity on TMobile is superb and the quad dac has no equal. I produce records and have Bowers & Wilkens wired headphones. It is my favorite way to listen to music! Overall I enjoy my V30 over my iPhone X. The screen is a bit bigger and I think it's a perfect size. So many great features and it all works so smoothly. My 19th smartphone since 2000 and so far my favorite.
It kills be when people complain about smartphone speaker when you can use head phones or Bluetooth speakers if your trying to jam out with your phones speaker you probably needed extra help in school
I'm an iPhone user at the moment and im seriously considering switching over to Android. I don't really care for any other phone out there except this and Pixel 2. Apple has really turned me off with their iCloud and limited memory! Im glad to see LG and Google taking a different approach for software and hardware. I think i'll order it from B&H and have it shipped to Europe. We have no clue as to when it will arrive here, (Maybe January 2018)!!
LG V30 wins. Quad dac, Shock resistance, better battery, capacity up to 2000 gb, better fingerprint scanner placement, wide angle mode, much lighter weight, cheaper price, M3 T3 enhancments, more camera features, a smaller size. These are just to name a few, and all for a cheaper price 🔥
I picked S9 over LG because of Low light camera Better front facing camera LED notification Stereo sound Better UI Thinking to return it back as it has avg. Battery life gets and it gets heated sometimes near the camera area. And noticed few more thing that screen feels narrow. TH-cam video in portrait mode + curved bezel does not feel good. Reading document is bit unsatisfactory as the start of the line has light reflection because of curved scren. The LG's form factor looks GREAT. Are the 5 mp camera and speaker so bad ?? Was the deal breaker for me.
As sounds as you said ergonomics is the study of people's efficiency with the phone, I knew I couldn't take you seriously. UI responsiveness has nothing to do with ergonomics.
The location of the volume rocker, a non removable battery, the second screen removed and the freaking ir blaster gone is a deal breaker. Loved that in the v10 and v20.
I wish you didn't use the words brave enough for companies who decided not to put a headphone jack to me it was just being cheap it's an excuse to try and push the General Public to getting wireless headphones and not including headphones with the expensive phones they're selling. As customers we should be outraged by the disgusting prices they're charging when you can get a phone like an axon 7 which is using premium parts at half the price. They're building them in Korea so it shouldn't be $1,000
Great review. Looks a great phone. For a 6” screen it doesn’t look that tall, really nice design. Wide Angle Cam, Quality DAC, Headphone Jack, SD Card, FM Radio, IP68 Water and Dust Resistance, Great Build Quality (MIL-STD-810G compliant) Bluetooth 5, Fingerprint Scanner, Wireless Charging... ticks so many boxes. Nice one.
Almost. Probably when V40 is out for market. i am gonna get a V30. ( When V20 is out i bought V10, When V30 is out. İ bought V20. almost half the price of the first day. :D And still even V10 is better than iphone 8 or even İphoneX. There no other phone with this sound output. i mean my headphone are moving on the table. Even if it is only volume level, it is a absolute death for other phones. :D) Why almost? 3.5mm jack must be on the bottom. And that is why? Answer ; You are gonna put your phone on your pocket, cable must be upwards. Grab your phone and pull out from your pocket. What are you seeing? Your phone is upside down. : D And must have stereo speakers too. It does not have to be front-facing speakers. In fact, if you have four speakers, even if your phone is in portrait or landscape mode, you'll hear continuous stereo sound. Or even. light shows? Back of the phone is glass, so you can put leds here. Like philips ambilight? i always using it on movies. I do not think you used it so often on the phone. But we pay so much. Would have been good. :D
By the way. i used Galaxy S8 ( Note 8 is same too. ). And hate it. So back to the V10. My god. Amoled screen colors are just so wrong. i am shooting product photos. V10 was like my portable calibrated screen. But S8. God. it is just so worng. What you seen in the screen and that you seen on the print. They are totally different. Color, white balance and even exposure.
Great review! Rare to see good content like this and not just a spec sheet :) I like that you've tried and tested it. You've helped me make a better decision moving forward, cheers!
Thank you for the V30 review, I like the form factor and have always liked the LG phones since my first G2. Can you tell me the Clock widget you are using?
The reason I didn't get the v30 in the end, was it was too lightweight for me. I loved the DAC, and the back video camera. I loved the wide lens, and the battery life. But, the phone felt too cheap to me, also the power button/fingerprint scanner felt too wiggly, and it gave it a more cheap feel, it just bothered me too much to ignore. I also didn't like the fact the v30 doesn't come with headphones unless you buy it from sprint in the US. It also can't wirelessly quick charge. It can wireless charge slow, and quick charge with a wire, but not both at the same time. The front video camera being trash was the deal breaker, seeing as how I planned on using it for recording purposes. The Cons and the fact the Note 8 has a better display, I chose the Note. It was a tough decision for sure, and I think it just depends on the person between these two and the Razer phone, they're all so good tbh.
It was recently announced that the V30 will soon have very fast wireless charging capabilities. The technology is in the phone but chargers not yet on the market. www.slashgear.com/lg-v30-boasts-faster-wireless-charging-thanks-to-idt-qi-epp-07507109/
yeah it sucks lol, I was extremely bummed about it. I've read it's temporary and the v30+ they're calling it with headphones will be at other carriers in the US as well later on. But, I needed a new phone this week, cause I messed up my old one, and I was due for an upgrade. So it sort of eliminated it as a choice for me :(**
@Jack N, that's interesting. Samsung phones have supported faster wireless charging for a while but I think that must be proprietary. I'll be interested to see how much these chargers are when they are released. They will likely be a bit expensive until support reaches more handsets.
Hell's favorite angel Mike , it's pettiness but I have to live with the device, carry it around, be seen with it. If it bothers me I can't bring myself to drop almost a grand on it. Sorry you feel differently or think it's a stupid reason lol
Good point Shaft. I do love the Spen. It is awesome. I just barley using it. I always forget about it. If the Spen is important and the large size is not a problem to someone they should definitely go with the note 8.
Valid points made. I would've chosen the v30 for the camera a speedier ui, but I wanted portrait mode, the s pen, and larger screen. I don't regret it.
I was tossing up to get a 2 year old flagship phone that was $1200 2 years ago but only $400 now and a midrange new phone like the Samsung A50 for $500. So I bought the LG and it was faulty the minute I got it. Wouldn't read fingerprints, kept crashing, etc etc. Many resets and it just kept showing me errors. So I returned it and got a full refund. Am I unlucky or are they crap. Should I get another LG or go for the A50?
I love music and that's the reason I purchased the V30 plus. An audiophiles dream come true. No it doesn't have the best front facing camera, but the rears are awesome. Selfies are for cam models anyway lol.
Every youtuber or any person should only choose iphone or galaxy, and of course you need to upgrade 3x a year. The latest galaxy, then the latest iphone and last the newest galaxy note. And if youre rich then u could include the iphone+ to your upgrade routines.
Totally agree with your thoughts on weight..... Everyone goes on and on about a heavier phone feeling more "premium" but in real world situations i want a phone to be light and strong which is what the V30 is. I have found that heavy phones also tax your hand when holding it for long periods or in times of reading or watching it without a kickstand. Quality review.
So does this turtle case actually provide protection? I know it says "armor case" but is it like the UAG or Otter Box? I love the look of this case but just want to make sure the protection is decent.
Amer Kees I'm more of an iOS guy at the moment. I just find it sad when people start whining in the comments section because other people don't like their favourite device as much as they do. It's almost as if they're really insecure and try to justify their taste and purchase. Most of these people are either Apple, Samsung or Google fans. OnePlus starts to get a lot of them too.
Hey Rivers, I just picked up my V30 and I'm pretty excited about it! I'd like to know what theme you're running on yours in this review. I'm. Also trying to figure out 1) how to get a news style briefing on a swipe right from home, and 2) how to get better spell check so I can type faster. The LG default settings and word suggestions don't seem to work that well. Do I need to replace the keyboard? I'm just making the leap from iPhone to Android, so please forgive me if some of these questions seem rudimentary. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!
I'm using nova launcher and I increased the icon size to 135%. I'm just using system icons and the wallpaper is from AMOLED bit.ly/2n46fYt I replaced the keyboard with google keyboard with saves your word suggestions to the cloud so it knows me from other phones. To get a news feed you might add a full screen news app widget to the right screen. There are links to most of the apps in the videos description.
Jack Skellington, actually no. Objectively the V30 has the best camera, has better battery life than the note 8, has better screen resolution, has a faster operating system, etc. The only thing the note 8 has that the V30 doesn't is the little pen, other than that everything on the v30 is better.
bought v10 and love it but it just die suddenly after 1 year plus. can't on the phone at all. becos of this, I dare not buy LG v30. I switch back to samsung.
Angel Nino What about Note8 is the best Smarthphone cuz it mixes really good speed, features, camera, ip certification, fast wireless and fast charging, S-Pen, design, and 5 unlock methods. No phone has all that at the same. Maybe XZP is faster, but Note has plenty more features, or maybe V30 has better camera, but Note has speed and lots of features
Angel Nino When I Google about my v10, I am surprised to see not just v10 had this problem. G4, G5 & v20 too. No point in digging the past. Move on. What happen to note 7 was unfortunate but the way Samsung handle is good. 1 out of 7 of note series is faulty. Why fix Ur eye on the fault? ;)
I like the V30, in fact, I went to purchase a v30+ 128GB yesterday just for the DAC. Got a really good deal for $300. Felt really good in my hands compared to my 7 plus. I have a 7+ 128GB and wanted a second phone. Tests were done with my ATH M50X. Sorry but if you have an iPhone with(or without) the 3.5mm jack from 6s and up(I don’t know about the earlier ones) there is absolutely no need to upgrade if you’re just looking for better audio quality. iPhones have, IMO, better DAC and have amps built internally and sounds much better. Do a comparison and you’ll be able to see for yourself. Maybe the output is 20% less than the iPhone. Forget the iPhone, based on tests Samsung S8+ has better output than the V30. I just don’t know why they hype the LG up so much. I didn’t feel that this was a better phone(in terms of audio quality). The person selling it was quite surprised as well after the comparison. Don’t get me wrong. It’s a good phone. Maybe with an amp you can bring the LG to life. If you are an android user wanting a phone that’s fast, has a beautiful display, better ergonomics and something new, go ahead. You won’t be disappointed.
I 100% agree. I actually am using the iPhone X now and same thing its not as vibrant as the Samsung phones. I love the vibrant screen and colors the most. Thanks for making this point.
Tech Connect your welcome I really like the v20 but the LCD compared to amoled screen was no contest it's like how I switched from hp mixed reality headset to the samsung hmd Odyssey night and day diffrence man I ran into one software issue with the v30 though it some times got stuck in landscape mode while I was doing portrait I had to keep turning auto rotate off and on it was a hassle but the phone was beautiful it self I just wish it was more vibrate I would of kept it only for that and the software issue ...i first had the v20 then the galaxy s8 plus then I tryed the v30 since I did like the v20 other then the LCD screen
Kevin Pulliam not really you can't pump anymore color I tried all the manual tweaks the calibration didn't come close led vs amoled is no contest like I said I love my note 8 if you could precisely adjust the rgb with more contrast ratio I would of kept it man
bad review imo not because the v30 won.. but because it wasnt really a comparison lol he spent time talking about features that the v30 had but he didnt compare them?. also he didnt even talk about the spen. and then says samsung purposely added some weight to the note, and made his shorts fall down? comeon dude. lol... then he says the v30 rotates quicker ? 😂😂😂 what are you even reviewing?? what criteria?
Just bought the V30. I like most everything about this phone except one. Reception issues. Went to various estate sales and in every case as soon as I was inside the homes the reception disappeared. Had to walk outside to get bars. Crusing around Sacramento American River drive it would just missed dive and kick the phone into useless 3G mode. My Droid turbo 2 in ALL areas of Sacramento got excellent reception be it inside homes or 8000' at Lake Tahoe. Might have to go back and that's a shame because it's a definite upgrade aesthetic wise and, functionality from the Droid turbo 2.
He purposely didn't mention it because he knows it's one of the main, useful features that the V30 doesn't have and never will have. The V series was known for its secondary ticker screen and since they removed it's nothing more than a glorified G6.
That's why LG is offering the 2 year warranty now. The bootloop problem ended with the v20, the G6 and V30 are fine. LG was sued for it so you can be sure they took care of the problem.
I am currently looking to upgrade me lg g3 and I am hesitating to buy lg again because this phone has some serious heat problems. So my most wanted feature is a cool phone that doesn't get randomly so hot that I can't carry it in my pockets. Can you tell me if that is still an issue with the v 30?
The LG V30 75 steps analog volume control is unmatched by any smartphones. Allows listener to fine tune the loudness for best dynamic range of their IEMs.
What about it? Are you suggesting that it happened to his phone but he neglected to mention it? It's early days but, as far as I'm aware, noone has reported such a problem with the V30 or even the G6 for that matter. No more than any other phone anyway.
I am sad to see the V30 loose the ability to replace the battery yourself. But after some research in the UK it costs around £45 to replace it which is very reasonable. So the only thing is to carry a power bank and a charger for the car to keep it topped up in the day. But overall the V30 is the better option especially for content creators, bloggers and you tubers.
actually ever since i started to use smart phone like from iphone 2g to date i have been given 3chances to LG where LG always failed to impress me and now even if LG come with 10 time more powerful than @apple/@samsung or any other i will never think of buying LG product i have waste my enough money for LG so i am telling you al guys never buy LG Phone others products are realy good but Phone!!!!!! waste of your money
How did they fail you? please explain. Also apple and Samsung just copy what lg does anyways, when lg first put the fingerprint scanner on the back ever one said how stupid it was. When lg made attachments everyone said it was a gimmick, now Motorola is doing it. Lg was the first one to have full manual controls and wide angle lens, now others are trying to have manual controls. LG is very creative and innovated where other companies are not, yest they have hiccups none and then but what company doesn't.
I've never regretted buying LG phones after leaving my iPhone 4s in the drawer, I switched Motorola and after leaving my LG devices on the shelf, they barely start up if at all, sometimes it's boot loop. I've learned again that phones/computers are very much like cars, you can't work them to hard and you also can't just let them sit.
Tom Petty Right...especially when they are the ones trying everything first.. ;) Haha.. Love my G5. Waiting for G7. Samsung will eventually have their own operating system, maybe...they are rumored to be almost ready to ditch Android. Hence, why they have a copy of every app that Google has. They even have their own assistant, Bixby.
Specs wise no the only advantage the Note 8 has is the bigger screen. Specs are all identical, design and UI is 100% subjective and cannot be better on one than the other. Some people don't want the huge tablet display on the Note 8 as it will be impossible to use one handed unless you have huge hands. And it's much heavier than the V30 as he mentioned in the video.
I measured to area of both screens and the V30 and Note 8 are nearly identical total screen area, with the note 8 being less than 5% larger than the V30. Samsung cheats by elongating the phone and then measuring the screen diagonally. By that token you could claim a 1 foot diagonal screen with the same area by making it very skinny. Samsung likes playing with aspect ratios for marketing purposes. I'll take the V30.
V30 has a better battery which lasts longer, has a better camera, has better sound, a better interface and better features, etc. The only positives that the note 8 has is the Spen, and a bigger screen, that's about it.
V30 boss here, I know the note series is mad nice and all of that. However DAC life FTW for me. Also tap to wake is kinda a battery drain if you ask me. However its still my favorite phone.
There should be 32bit DAC, not 24bit. It is 32bit on V20 for playback and 24bit sound recording option. Should be the same on V30 and V20 can record video with hifi/24bit audio.
Not really. The only thing the Note 8 does that the v30 doesn't is that the note 8 has a slightly bigger screen and the Spen. Literally everything else specs wise on the V30 is better.
BTICronox lg is king bootloops and those who say samsung lags are real jokers. Because they don't have it and note 8 doesn't lag at all. V30 is th king of horrible front camera
BTICronox if you don't care doesn't mean its not an important feature. Lol. If the lg doesn't have a display, your type of people will say "who cares about a display" If front camera is not useful, then whats the use of back camera? To record po*n? The front camera is more important for a social person than back camera. Its used to take group selfies, profile pictures for Facebook, viber, twitter.etc. Almost 90% of Facebook users who have their own photos are selfies.
I have to disagree. I've never had an LG phone or any Android phone at all for that matter. I want wireless charging so my options are relatively limited, but the Samsung Galaxy S8(+) and Note 8 as well as the LG V30 were among the primary contenders. After evaluating each, I decided that the LG V30 is the best phone for my needs. It was a close-run thing because they are all excellent phones but each has it's strengths and weaknesses. In the case of the Note 8, I think the most important factor is whether you will get enough benefit from the S Pen to justify the additional expense, which I concluded that I would not. The V30 beats out the Galaxy S8(+) because of the dual cameras, quad DAC and the fact that I don't really like the excessively-curved edges. The V30 isn't perfect but it's combination of strengths and weaknesses suits me better than any other phone. So, suitability for non-fanboys confirmed.
John Avi ... The V30 is having display issues though. It's a great phone but when people think about a phone to beat, it's usually the note 8, not the V30. Also, that front facing camera is terrible.
carver 9 true. But I've also read quite a bit about Note 8 screens having problems. From lines of dead pixels and burn in to unexplainable screen fractures. I love the Note 8. But that LG phone is overlooked in the Samsung vs Apple wars.
Pratik Gajjar ... I know it isn't defined by the front facing camera. What I'm telling you is, the Note 8 is a better phone overall. If they did "the phone of 2017", do you even think the LG V30 would be in the top 3?
ME and my families were huge LG fans, only my mom used the S7 edge, after all our LG bootlooped (Lg g4, Lg V20, Lg g5) we switched to Samsung S8, no regrets, LG was a great phone but their boot loop issue killed it, not having our money anymore.
Samsung Should've Went With The Form Factor Of The V30 Because Of The S-Pen. The Bixby Button Shouldn't Be Only For Bixby But For Whatever The Consumer Wants It To Be. The Battery Should've Been Larger! Like Around 4,000+. A Non Edge Variant Would've Been Amazing Especially The Note Series Because Of The S-Pen, Dual Front Firing Stereo Speakers Would Absolutely Make The Note Sell More Then The S8 & S8 Plus. Quad Dac Audio, 120Hz, A 4K Display, An Ir Blaster, Dual 20+ Megapixel Camera With A Dual LED Flash, Fingerprint Scanner Like The Google Pixel, Hybrid SIM Support, Qualcomm Quick Charge 4.0, 3D Touch Like The IPhone, And Only 2 Storage Options 128GB-256GB & A Beast 8GB Of Ram... Hopefully The Note 9 Or "10" (Anniversary)
I currently have the lg v20 and it's great, except for the fact that it's REALLY laggy. Is the v30 laggy too? Do apps crash a lot? Ive been really disappointed with LG for this...
I have the note 8 n I absolutely love it. If I didn't get 425 off, get a free wireless charging convertible and free 256gb sd card, it would have been a tough decision between the v30 n note 8. I'm such a camera and audio enthusiast that I think i will get the v30 later next year after the v40 comes out or if I can get one used or new for 350-450... Good video!
Sold my Note 8 after gotten tired of a horrible call quality. Got a V30 for $300, and it's ignored by so many and it's a fantastic phone, especially if you find it cheap. The camera is unbeatable. I don't care about the pixel or iphone cams, in real-world usage, the V30's camera is the best. It will literally feel like using a digital camera, unlike all the other phones. Also the haptic feedback on the V30 outmatches all the competition, except the iPhones. There are a lot of "this makes sense" things on this phone, missing from so many other devices. And the OLED screen is great, I always thought the Samsung devices over saturate the colors regardless that people think they are "better". It really comes down to personal reference. The V30's screen easily outmatches all LCDs, that includes the newest iPhone XR. Also the V30s form format is so much better than a skinny and tall device, I prefer for the phone to have a width for many reasons, skinny/tall telephones with their 18:9 is just crap, especially if you want to use the phone in landscape mode a lot (GPS, movie watching etc). As I said, I used the Note device for many months now and the V30 just feels better and functions better. It's really a daily workhorse to handle all the tasks and notifications. Nothing feels like a gimmick on it.
I think having 4 more pixels and an all glass sensor really helps the V30 with noise reduction in low light Both are great but V30 has less noise and is sharper
LG, Huawei, Motorola are the only phones that have: SD card slot/3.5mm jack/ NFC / Radio all in ONE phone. Note all models but, but that's why I'm sticking with LG
V30 is a good phone, but it's very easy for it to have black dead line ( vertical ) , me and my friend got the same problem, and lucky that he bought it locally covered by warranty , and I bought " parallel import " v30 from Europe, so I gotta replace the screen out of my pocket ( about $190 USD )
Ergonomics is not responsiveness fyi, its hand placement, positioning and comfort of the hold. Like ergonomics for your desk set up at work, should promote good spinal position and not forward head/rounded shoulders
You can’t go wrong with either one :)
Exactly. They are both really good phones.

Seth Yang AND YOU ARE A BULLSHIT!
Richard Joash Tan noted..
Richard Joash Tan well, the better manual camera on v30 is a turn on. That DAC too
LG V30 is a very underrated phone
Not really, the camera is cheap, my Note 3 takes way better pictures than the LG. And it is not post processing, its the glass of the lens of inferior quality. I take a lot of photos from macros to landscape and the Samsung phone from 2013 takes better pictures, sharp crisp rich colors.

I have watched a TON of LG V30 reviews and have NEVER seen the radio tuner shown as a feature! Does that work with U.S. variants?? WOW!
It indeed does have an FM tuner as does my V20. So did my Note 3 and a few other phones in the past. TH-cam reviewers, even the best of them, rarely mention it as part of their review. Go figure. It might be a generational thing. Just a guess
CRAZY!! I just got the NextRadio app and it unlocked the FM tuner on my T-Mobile Note Edge!
Most phones have this feature...
No, most phones block radiofeatures
V20 has too.
Great real world review! I've watched a ton of V30 reviews, and most people just do a feature run down. Yours is more about real world use, which I appreciate.
Thanks so much ubercurious!
😂 v30 over note 8
both suck
ClynthSync Not as much as your simple ass iPhone. V30>iPhone, note 8>iPhone, v30
there is not such model as iPhone note 8 stupid
Enable your developer options on your note 8 and turn off your animations and the rotation on the phone will be a lot faster.
Seems he doesnt know how to use his smart phone
Same with any phone.
The downside of the V30 is elimination of secondary display, removable battery and big one removal of IR Blaster.
The downside of the removable battery is absence of water resistance.
My V20 was totally damaged by water recently. A portable battery pack is a good alternative to the removable battery.
Jean Lai Kan . True but I have heard water resistant wears off and seen S7 damaged by water.
LG V20 And Axon 7 Dude agreed. I have no idea why they took away the IR blaster. I understand about the non removable batter because of wireless charging but it should have come with fast wireless charging
LG V20 And Axon 7 Dude I also forgot waterproofing is a good thing to have
@@jeanlaikan8400 Not true. S5 was water resistant with removable battery

Ledenk mems for a limited time...
The SD card on the V30 is always available even after years
The V30 is my favorite Android phone.
Marvincent Acuña agreed I have the v30s
LG V30 wins. Quad dac, Shock resistance, better battery, capacity up to 2000 gb, better fingerprint scanner placement, wide angle mode, much lighter weight, cheaper price, M3 T3 enhancments, more camera features, a smaller size. These are just to name a few, and all for a cheaper price 🔥
I picked S9 over LG because of
Low light camera
Better front facing camera
LED notification
Stereo sound
Better UI
Thinking to return it back as it has avg.
@Steven And The Stevens you think people go back to comments they made a year ago and fix them?
Nice one.
V30 is by far one of the best smart phones of the year. LG really makes a great phone and even better cameras and camera software!
mumbojumbo123456789 you my friend are BLIND
how so?
Blind or not. Atleast is correct :)
V30 front cam is terrible compared to other flagships.
Bender Anglesmith, thats the one downfall. But its other camra is fantastic and its cheeper then a lot of phones.
When i first got my V30 phone , i didnt realize what an awesome phone i really bought till i started watching all these reviews
Lg v30 is awesome!
Why almost? 3.5mm jack must be on the bottom. And that is why? Answer ; You are gonna put your phone on your pocket, cable must be upwards. Grab your phone and pull out from your pocket. What are you seeing? Your phone is upside down. : D
And must have stereo speakers too.
Color, white balance and even exposure.
wait, wenn it bootloop then you will be oh v 30 sucks,i have bin lg fan but they make phones that last 1 year.fuck that
I've been a Samsung guy for years and I just got the V30. Its a wicked piece of hardware 😆
İlker Ozturk AND YOU ARE A BULLSHIT!
Great review! Rare to see good content like this and not just a spec sheet :) I like that you've tried and tested it. You've helped me make a better decision moving forward, cheers!
LgV30 awsome...
Justin nikku very awesome, indeed. 👌🏼
They are both awesome phones. I just like the form factor, size and weight better on the V30.
@@Somecooltech1 What do think of the screen. Colours ect
Jack N sweet. Too little too late though :P
yeah it sucks lol, I was extremely bummed about it.
Thank you for making this video. Was confused earlier but now I will go with the V30 plus.
Seems like you really like the LG V30 which is cool..But never mentioned the biggest thing about the Note. #Spen
Not everyone uses the spen
Good point Shaft. I do love the Spen. It is awesome. I just barley using it. I always forget about it. If the Spen is important and the large size is not a problem to someone they should definitely go with the note 8.
I'd use the DAC and camera way more than a SPen. Plus you can lose an SPen.
Not sure how you can lose the pen, seeing as how note 8 tracks it, and an notification goes off when you're too far away from it.
Damien Beckham lol. So you're trying to tell me that people don't lose SPens? Guess no one sells replacements on Amazon...
The v30 and on LG has been killing it... Traded my S8! For the v40... Happy asf
Valid points made. I would've chosen the v30 for the camera a speedier ui, but I wanted portrait mode, the s pen, and larger screen. I don't regret it.
Name of the theme/launcher/icons?
Kunj Chauhan I wanna kno
Nova
I added the info in the video description.
Tech Connect Thanks, So helpful!
Good review, have you tested if this phone can respond to "ok google" with the screen locked like the G6 can?
Both phones are great.
Jo Green Right on!
Thanks 4 the Radio tip!!
skye Ellis what is that radio app called again? I could not find it in play store.
No problem.
The Next Radio app does not use the internal tuner, it's just a streaming app.
Then either your phone does not have a tuner or its not accessible. Most snap dragon processors have the hidden tuner.
I love music and that's the reason I purchased the V30 plus. An audiophiles dream come true. No it doesn't have the best front facing camera, but the rears are awesome. Selfies are for cam models anyway lol.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂. Thanks for the comedy
dude, THANK YOU for telling about the built in radio, I had no idea! It makes the phone so much more worth it for sure!
You need earphone connected to use it
Every youtuber or any person should only choose iphone or galaxy, and of course you need to upgrade 3x a year.
I couldn't agree more. I hope we see lighter phones in the future.
Good video..But I'll go with the Note 8 all day every day..
So does this turtle case actually provide protection? I know it says "armor case" but is it like the UAG or Otter Box? I love the look of this case but just want to make sure the protection is decent.
So many butthurt Samsung-Fangirls in the comments section.
Mambutu O'Malley yeah too many of them... i own an s8 but i like lg phones as much as samsung's but i didnt like tthe g6 that much so i got an s8.
Mambutu O'Malley way more butthurt lg fans in denial
Im with you Mambutu. I like Samsung LG and apple and use all three.
Hear ya Mambutu. I like both phones I just like the v30 a little better. So much crying.
LG V30 is Best
Leon94m not quite there, in fact
In your preference. But objectively the note 8 is overall better
Jack Skellington, actually no. Objectively the V30 has the best camera, has better battery life than the note 8, has better screen resolution, has a faster operating system, etc. The only thing the note 8 has that the V30 doesn't is the little pen, other than that everything on the v30 is better.
Lol pal its still far from 01April yet, but thanks for the best troll of the year, totally made my day.
JO. O So you are a dumbass fanboy. Understood
Thanks good to know. I just ordered my on ebay unlocked 128gb for $850. Its a international version. I'm not sure will it the same you reviewed
bought v10 and love it but it just die suddenly after 1 year plus. can't on the phone at all. becos of this, I dare not buy LG v30. I switch back to samsung.
seraphim what about note 7 hahahhahaha
Why fix Ur eye on the fault? ;)
seraphim U the only one that seems to think, i like ur point of view. LGs phones(v and G series) are really good.
But i think Note 8 is better
I had both phones my v30 looked not as vibrate as my note 8 I went back to the note 8.....
You can adjust the color strength of the screen which in that case you could make it as vibrant as you wanted but you already switched so good luck.
Kevin Pulliam not really you can't pump anymore color I tried all the manual tweaks the calibration didn't come close led vs amoled is no contest like I said I love my note 8 if you could precisely adjust the rgb with more contrast ratio I would of kept it man
Why are all the icons on the screen? They are so big and ugly.lol
But not more than you, the icons are nowhere as ugly as you.
Not bad.
Hi, can external mics be used with this phone? If so could that be done through the USB or 3.5? Thank you
I switched from S8+ to V40... Happy asf
bad review imo not because the v30 won.. but because it wasnt really a comparison lol he spent time talking about features that the v30 had but he didnt compare them?. also he didnt even talk about the spen. and then says samsung purposely added some weight to the note, and made his shorts fall down? comeon dude. lol... then he says the v30 rotates quicker ? 😂😂😂 what are you even reviewing?? what criteria?
Did you notice how the title says "why I chose the V30"? That's what this video is about, not a review of either phone.
This isn't a reveiw lol....its a preference vid, read the title
I swear people these days don't know how to read.
he made a comparison video and look at what hes comparing... dumb features like auto rotate being quick??
Bobby Verola
He made a preferance video, he's not reviewing either phone, and hey maybe those are features you know HE PREFERS
Might have to go back and that's a shame because it's a definite upgrade aesthetic wise and, functionality from the Droid turbo 2.
am glad that you left the S pen out. if other phones dont have it theres no use of mentioning it.
dvddmc that would be exactly the reason to mention it.
how much?
It is very useful though
If you use a Note8 and don't use the S-pen, you're totally short-changing yourself and should probably get another phone instead.
He purposely didn't mention it because he knows it's one of the main, useful features that the V30 doesn't have and never will have. The V series was known for its secondary ticker screen and since they removed it's nothing more than a glorified G6.
Nice review. LG V30 looks great. I have note 4 until now and I love it . I will get the note 8 soon mostly because of the pen and its usability.
v30 is good.. but ihate the company... i experienced bootloop on lg v10 and g3..so no lg
Teter yow I think LG made the google phone too
That's why LG is offering the 2 year warranty now.
My old lg got stuck in bootloop and i just did a sistem restart
Yes! My v10 killed itself and lg sent me a g5 instead of the v10 when I sent it I’m for an exchange 🙄
The LG V30 75 steps analog volume control is unmatched by any smartphones. Allows listener to fine tune the loudness for best dynamic range of their IEMs.
What about boot loop?
Jian NL only with the older generation lg phones. Like the g4, g5 and V10/v20 but it's no longer an issue with the g6 and the v30
Shhh bro it's a feature 😂
I had the V10 v20 and now the v30 and have never had a boot loop
What about it? Are you suggesting that it happened to his phone but he neglected to mention it? It's early days but, as far as I'm aware, noone has reported such a problem with the V30 or even the G6 for that matter. No more than any other phone anyway.
Hi what is boot loop?
Agree with your assessment. Returned note 8 and got v30.
lg v30 is awsome but i will buy note 8 HAHAHA.
I hear you. They are both great phones.
I got v30
AHSHAHGSGASBAHAHAHAHAAHAH SO FUCKING FUNNY
Lalala lalala you got it buddy !
That's What I think and I actually did.
Sucks for u. I returned my note 8 for lg v30
Karma production house NPL
I wish you knew how to write in the English language.
I've learned again that phones/computers are very much like cars, you can't work them to hard and you also can't just let them sit.
love mu lg v10 no problem what so ever using for more than 6 months
Tom Petty Right...especially when they are the ones trying everything first.. ;) Haha.. Love my G5. Waiting for G7. Samsung will eventually have their own operating system, maybe...they are rumored to be almost ready to ditch Android. Hence, why they have a copy of every app that Google has. They even have their own assistant, Bixby.
The only thing i hate v30 is jack port located on the top!
Note 8 hands down the better phone.
V30 is hands down the better phone.
The only positives that the note 8 has is the Spen, and a bigger screen, that's about it.
is lg faster when playing video games?
V30 boss here, I know the note series is mad nice and all of that. However DAC life FTW for me. Also tap to wake is kinda a battery drain if you ask me. However its still my favorite phone.
Note 8 is better!!
There should be 32bit DAC, not 24bit. It is 32bit on V20 for playback and 24bit sound recording option. Should be the same on V30 and V20 can record video with hifi/24bit audio.
note 8 is better
Samsheep
Not really. The only thing the Note 8 does that the v30 doesn't is that the note 8 has a slightly bigger screen and the Spen. Literally everything else specs wise on the V30 is better.
Note 8 is more expensive, that means is better right?
Joel Sager bixby button is trash so v30
OFFICIAL GAMER true
There's a small button at the bottom of your Note which when clicked, comes out in the form of a pen. It's called the S-pen. Try it. It's pretty cool
Lgv30 is a great smartphone, but I'll take note 8 first. Samsung is the real king.
lag king
King of rubbish
BTICronox lg is king bootloops and those who say samsung lags are real jokers. Because they don't have it and note 8 doesn't lag at all. V30 is th king of horrible front camera
BTICronox if you don't care doesn't mean its not an important feature. Lol. If the lg doesn't have a display, your type of people will say "who cares about a display"
If front camera is not useful, then whats the use of back camera? To record po*n?
The front camera is more important for a social person than back camera. Its used to take group selfies, profile pictures for Facebook, viber, twitter.etc.
Almost 90% of Facebook users who have their own photos are selfies.
King of annoying. Can't wait to get rid of my S7. Xmas is coming
What screen protector do you have on? I can't find any good ones and the ones I do find don't cover the screen nearly as well as yours.
Lg V30 are better only for LG fanboys.
not only!!!!!!!!!!
for sammy fanboid
I just like tech so
I have to disagree.
Big BLOCK life No. The note 8 is factually better overall objectively
Will you review the Razer phone? I'm really torn between it and the V30.
Lol... who would choose a V30 over a Note 8??? That's hilarious.
carver 9 nah man. The V30 is badass. Go play with one and listen to music on it. Take a pic with that cam. Both are amazing.
Someone who has used both.
Pratik Gajjar ... I know it isn't defined by the front facing camera. What I'm telling you is, the Note 8 is a better phone overall. If they did "the phone of 2017", do you even think the LG V30 would be in the top 3?
Nicely done, Guv'na!
I absolutely hate my LG V20, useless device.
drscooter86 LG should stick to mid level zero innovation
drscooter86 What does that have to do with the V30? V30 is leaps and bounds better than the V20 imo.
drscooter86 i love my v20 but y u hate it
Me too .V20 JUST unbelievable terrible. The experience Bring me back to the 1999.
Gimme a break. You make it sound like a 30 dollar trap/burner phone. V20 was badass. Surely operator error.
ME and my families were huge LG fans, only my mom used the S7 edge, after all our LG bootlooped (Lg g4, Lg V20, Lg g5) we switched to Samsung S8, no regrets, LG was a great phone but their boot loop issue killed it, not having our money anymore.
Enjoyed watching this video, looking forward to picking up the V30 soon
Mi opinion about low light video capture: note 8 seem to get less light, but the video seems to have less visible digital noise than v30.
Good video!
plz tell me about your launcher that you used in this video
I agree with you on the form factor. only downside is LG's OS and perhaps got touch latency issue... especially with screen protector
I had a choice between the lg v30 and the note 8 or even the galaxy s8 and it was an easy choice to pick the lg v30 it just feels so right.
Good points man and beautiful B-roll!
..also thanks for giving us an alternative to the iPhone X videos everyone's putting up. 😉
Thanks Eevnos, I'm really glad you appreciate the B-roll.
Most of these features on the LG were available with the LG K7 years ago. Including quick slide and auto rotate. And K7 is only a $50 phone.
Thanks for the review. skye Ellis what is that radio app called again? I could not find it in play store.
There u are, it's been a while. Audio recorder and camera sounds / looks awesome. Are any of these water 💦 resistant ?
Hi Ken, Both are water proof enough to survive a quick dunk in a bucket of water.
Anything that surrounds the camera and flashlight with a circle is old fashion to me!
Nothing feels like a gimmick on it.
looking to upgrade from my Turbo2 to an LGv30. most new droids are faster than my 2 year old relic but not better. This may be it
After LG Google Nexus for 4years I feel like it's time to switch to LG V30 or Nokia8 as it's successor.. which one I should go??
Hi. We all know Samsung screens/display are the best. But is the v30 as good, better or worse ?
I think having 4 more pixels and an all glass sensor really helps the V30 with noise reduction in low light
Both are great but V30 has less noise and is sharper
3:38. You can shoot 4k at 30 and 1080p at 60. Not 4k AND 1080p at 60.
LG, Huawei, Motorola are the only phones that have: SD card slot/3.5mm jack/ NFC / Radio all in ONE phone. Note all models but, but that's why I'm sticking with LG
The only thing I don't like about the LG v30 is the silver color, they should add more color options like dark blue
