In the sea of SW channels yours stands out as informative and full of info just not covered elsewhere. Some of the bigger channels should get off their asses and give you a shout out to gain more subs. Keep up the great work

The Star Wars Fandom got so familiar to the prequel universe, it feels like everyone forgot what it was like before 1999 ( including all the Hollywood and it's Sci-fi genre films).
I remember being so shocked in the theater merely from the sheer scale and beauty of the world. There was nothing at that scale, no Sci-Fi or fantasy story was told at that scale at that point of time. It opened a whole new era for both Sci-Fi story writers and Computer Graphics Film Productions introducing new technologies to the industry, again as the first Star Wars series and ILM have done in 1977.
It's such a tragedy that it's still a norm among the Star Wars Fans to openly mock the prequels and George Lucas to this day, playing with their Lightsaber toys in various combat forms, which was first introduced in the Phantom menace, which is the most mocked film by the fans...

The world building and ideas aren't mocked. The screenplay, plot, and dialogue are. If Lucas had a bit of help refining his film to make it flow better while keeping the elements that are great about the prequels, well, who knows.

It's only the dialogue and script that's mocked. Everything else is almost universally loved, especially all of the lore and worldbuilding.
And The Phantom Menace wasn't as mocked as Attack Of The Clones, which now isn't anywhere near as mocked as the awful sequel trilogy or Solo.

One thing you didn't touch on is that Anakin painted his Jedi ships Yellow to evoke the Naboo N1 Starfighter. This could be for multiple reasons. Probably because it reminds him of Padme, his first big adventure, and because he can't let go of his amazing feats in that battle. It's very personal to him.
Meanwhile, Obi-Wan's Jedi ships are always Red and White to symbolize The Republic, showing his complete allegiance and the fact that he has "no personal attachments or belongings" like a "true Jedi should".

Holy sh*t, I never thought of that before. That's actually a really cool detail.

@@occam7382 I learned it from another TH-cam video like a year ago and I was blown away. I never knew about the symbolism there.

Concept drawing at 3:36 is heavily derived from the Ho 229 fighter jet.

This design was later used for Padme's ship in beginning of Episode 2.

absolutely nothing looks like Star Warns in the prequels, specially in the first two movies, ship design are abysmally bad and off, the Amidalla´s ship is basically a chrome SR-71, the naboo fighters looks like they are moving backwards, the entire Trade federation gear looks from some old 50s sci fi movies, the bad ones.

Not a huge fan of the Star Wars design aesthetic but I do love the N1. Always thought you could upscale it and replace with a larger cockpit or bridge and make a bice yacht or bird of prey style ship.

Doug Chiang and other artists in Lucasfilm are master genius artists in every regard, but their recent work doesn't feel as masterful as during the Lucas era of their work. Many times the design lookes "unbalaned" or "unfinished" or "inconsistant in it's style", "not convincing as an engineered product in real life, cartoonish". I liked the overall artwork of Disney Star Wars trilogy, but it felt like a mass market product, rather than a masterful art piece with depth.... ( and I consider myself bias to George Lucas, but it seems pretty obvious to recognize it even to non art-nerd audience)
I love the art and design work in Star Wars and bought and studied many of the published art books, and recognized a pattern of the finished design directed by Lucas being far better than the initial designs ( which is pretty obvious to many people if you look at them, but not realized often).
I see the same thing in many Ridley Scott film's art design and some many writer's work (and also in some Neil Bloomkamp's films or Game director Kojima Hideo's work), that A role of a great Art Director / editor's is far impactful and important than many nerds think ( which is commonly considered as exploiting talent or getting lucky with talented artists, rather than enhancing the artist's talent by good guidance and collaboration. )
The truth is, genius art directors as George Lucas or Ridley Scott repeats their success in art, with whomever they work with, but the people who collaborated with them and left from the team after often never repeat their finest success ever again during their career.
To me it seems like George Lucas is great at recognizing talents and enhancing the work of them, even in areas like editing or action choreography, considering the work in Star Wars was revolutionary (both in 1977 and 1999) but the specialist who worked with Lucas, not all, but in many cases, only repeated their success in Star Wars and never peaked again in their career.
I've worked with artists in the past because of my work and quickly learned that working with multiple artist together, it's so easy to get all over the place, total Chaos, since many artists aren't cooperative and aspire for uniqueness. I have the utmost respect to George Lucas not just for the Beautiful Naboo Fighter design, which is my favorite, but being successful in leading all the artists gathered around him in his gigantic production of making the Star Wars ( which is easily 10 time the size of a typical Film Production )

Grew up a huge fan of the franchise but the prequels completely killed it for me. Still mostly dead to me.
