  • A version of the 1967-69 "Abstract W7" logo sequence from the Looney Tunes shorts of the era featuring a unique one-time variation of Bill Lava's klunky rendition of "The Merry-Go-Round Broke Down" that may be very well the strangest rendition of all! Taken from the high-definition restoration of "Fistic Mystic" (1969).

      Yep, pretty much! The only upside so far is that the current WB-D management likes the Looney Tunes too much for this merger mess to affect them, the way the Warner Bros.- Seven Arts and AOL Time Warner mergers did.
      Of course, if my Wile E. Coyote costume wasn't too worn-looking, I'd do a vlog about all of this as Wile E. But I AM hoping to save up for a new suit soon!

      Turns out I was wrong. This has led to the 1951-2004 "Looney Tunes" shorts (including the recently-restored Seven Arts ones) being removed from HBO Max, and the impending "Bye-Bye Bunny" TV/video movie being in limbo...

      @@ZakWolf I hate Scooby-Doo ! that wretched franchise is so overrated !
      It's just a cartoon about stupid teenagers solving mysteries with their ugly, dumb, annoying, cowardly, stupid mutt. AND I CAN'T STAND IT !!!! The franchise has been going on for years and years ! I'm not going to talk about the plot, BECAUSE EVERYONE KNOWS IT GODDAMNIT !!!!! I mean, c'mon ! EVERY. SINGLE. SHOW. they're literally all the same thing ! It got old so fast ! The characters are annoying morons and I'll give you reasons:
      1. Fred is a dumb blonde who's obsessed with The Mystery Machine.
      2. Velma's a nerd.
      3. Daphne is a huge crybaby who panics if her clothes or hair got dirty.
      4. Shaggy's a craving little coward
      and 5. Scooby's voice gets me...ON MY DARN NERVES !!!!! Sheesh.
      Most of the Hanna-Barbera remakes died in the 90's, but somehow...those idiots just kept watching this crap ! and to say, Scooby-Doo has overstayed his welcome to the Warner Bros. family is the understatement of the century.
      Scooby-Doo hasn't just overstayed his welcome, he has also kicked the house owners in the nads, parked himself in the living room for over 30 years and sleeps with the house owner's wife every night. I cannot think of another cartoon that's refused TO DIE ! How the hell do they keep remaking these dumb cartoons ? and why are they still doing this ?! GOD !!! They're literally loads of remakes of this disgusting monstrosity ! I am DEAD. GODDAMN. SERIOUS. Does any kid actually sit down and go "Oh joy ! Scooby-Doo is on !" and enjoy every minute of it ? No offense, but Scooby-Doo is pure cartoon white noise ( a la SpongeBob SquarePants ) and is literally proud of it ! Scooby-Doo got elected president of Cartoon Network in 2000. What the actual hell ?! Bugs Bunny would make a better president ! GIVE ME A FRICKIN' BREAK ALREADY FOR CRYING OUT LOUD !!!!! Nowadays, Scooby-Doo is being treated better than the Looney Tunes. DANG YOU, WB !!!!!
      So if I saw the Scooby gang in real life, I would torture them so badly.

    Porky Pig used to have his own TV show, that mostly aired Porky's earliest cartoons, from the 30's and 40's. They also showed cartoons that opened and closed with the W7 logo. But the song playing in this video is not the one that I used to hear.

    • @ZakWolf
      @ZakWolf  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You're thinking of when Warner Bros.- Seven Arts had 79 black-and-white Porky and Daffy cartoons redrawn-colorized in 1968-69. When prepared for television they had the "Abstract W7" logos tacked on, but using the original cartoons' opening and closing themes (usually the second half for the opening). In 1979-80, new prints were prepared that had the 1956 "bullseye" opening and closing replacing the "W7" logos, in some cases fading from "That's all, Folks!" to the 1970s "Distributed by Warner Bros" closing logo. But some TV stations continued airing the prints with the "Abstract W7" logos up until the late 1980s!

    Why do so many post-60s cartoons use so much of the HB sound effects? Is it because HB sounds are more cheaper compared to the other sound effects libraries?

    • @ZakWolf
      @ZakWolf  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It might be because when Warner Bros. Animation reopened in 1967, they brought a former H-B sound editor on board, Don Douglas, and he brought some H-B sound effects with him. Then after being dormant from 1969-80, they continued using some H-B sound effects (by which time, Jim Graziano was the sound editor). But I suspect it might also have something to do with more and more animation companies outsourcing their sound editing to outside post-production facilities, and some of them have either worked for Hanna-Barbera or have hired editors that worked for H-B at one time. Horta Editorial was fond of using them, as was Animation City Editorial Services, Saturday Morning Incorporated, and a few others. Then in the mid-1980s when OMI put out their "Universe of Sounds" sampler set for the E-MU Emulator II, that included several H-B sound effects, making them more common. And then things got crazier when Sound Ideas released their H-B sound effects CD set in 1993 (which is a lot of fun to work with, I will admit).
