His skating represents the epitome of elegance and grace. He weaves a story that I wish it'll never end forever. I can never forget his skating especially this one.
This is the only thing that makes humanity beautiful: The human ability to create beauty. To look at an icy pavement and think: "I could create dreams in here, I could transform my movement into magic and show the world how beautiful life can be."
I really miss skating like this. I know skating has to evolve and now skaters are performing multiple quadruple jumps, but Johnny's skating is so pure, effortless and just beautiful. His skating defines elegance and artistry. It's too bad he wasn't rewarded with an Olympic medal. But, like Michelle Kwan, he doesn't need one to prove he is one of the best skaters ever!
There're many talented and beautiful figure skaters born every year but I still remember clearly those memorable skatings of Michelle Kwan and Johnny Weir.
No Olympic medal or world championship. Still, one of the most beautiful skaters of either gender I've ever seen. I love that he makes more money than almost any other skater except Kristi, Scott Hamilton & Michelle. A huge part of that is his originality, intriguing personality & intelligence. That ON TOP of being a fabulous skater!
@@marisolgarcia3123 An exquisite one. I always felt that artistically, he, Paul Wylie, Jason Brown and ESPECIALLY John Curry were the best ever. I hate the GOAT label, but if we’re going to go that way, no one could touch Curry. He was a fine compulsory figure skater (something that is a lost art), and he could do the hardest jumps competed at the time. The short & free skates were longer back then, too - he finished first or second in them. He landed almost every jump on the beat of the music, and I have never seen anyone so in touch with the music. I miss him, terribly. Johnny, Paul & Jason make me smile, because I am reminded of Curry’s untouchable artistry. Thank you for recognizing a genius at work.
What's so incredible about this so called 'sport' is that you're watching something breathtakingly beautiful while two guys sound like they're describing the workings of a combustion engine.
Although a combustion engine is also a beautiful creation - here they could show a tiny picture in motion of the engine and let people make what connection they wish
I do wish announcers would not do so much of it. I remember getting annoyed as they yacked all through Plushenko's Nijinski piece. I wanted to smack them.
I am glad that there are younger announcers now that maybe understand skating better. The people doing this program did their best to put me to sleep. Only Johnny kept me awake!!
I was ready to leave the sport, then I saw this. I wrote an email to him to tell him how moved I was. He wrote me back. Kept me in the sport for 2.5 more years.
This guy is just unbelievable, I can`t even begin to grasp how someone can be this great at skating. He`s a natural, it`s something you have to be born with.
This is beautiful in every way I can think of. Johnny brings beauty to the world. Such a talented, lovely man. When something gets me down, he makes me smile.
Wow. I could watch this over and over again, Johnny Weir skates this music so beautifully! I would love to find a copy of this with the music, but without the annoying commentary.
The best routine I've ever seen!! fluent, gracefull, what more could you want in a male figure skater? :) So proud of you Johnny!!! Keep sticking up for yourself bud :) :) :)
I have loved Johnny forever yet I have never seen this performance. I have no explanation. This is so spectacular!! The jumps look so effortless, the landings exquisite. Thank you Johnny!!
I saw this live and loved it. Still loving this performance 18 years later. This program was perfect. The music suited him and he looked relaxed and sure of himself. His hand placement when finishing the jumps was just exquisite. I love his commentary, but really miss his skating. ❤
Johnny, you are exceptionally talented. You are a joy to watch, especially for those of us who feel "different" and may have suffered for it. You are a fine role model with your perseverence, tenacity and superb skating technique. May your skating career continue to widen, although you sadly didn't get the Gold Medal you deserved at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. There's alot of hate and jealousy, but you have such class; you rise above all the pettiness, You've uceeeded-you've the Gold in my book
oh i just love to see him so happy there at the end! he skated so wonderfully, and his performance at the 2010 olympics was amazing as well, he deseved a higher score!
Michaelangelo has his sculptures! Mozart has his Piano Concertos, Shakespeare has his plays and sonnets and Johnny Weir has his skating! Watching him skate is like listening to a Rachmaninoff piano concerto! Absolutely Breathtaking!!
The artistic part is so wonderful to skate to the music with your moves. Technically doing that partis so important but putting those necessary moves into the program effortlessly is so amazing 😉
Haven't watched skating in forever and came across 2! Sooo flawless and makes it look so effortless...like he invented ice skating. And his jumps!!! Wow!
He had it six years ago and he still has it now. I still can't believe he didn't get on the podium... Sigh! Still love him though, and he skated so beautifully in Vancouver.
Johnny Weir, you have a fan in me! Your personality, your zest for life, your candor, your sensitivity, and, of course, your skating ability - all adds up to one terrific fella! Bravo! It was awesome seeing you win first place. Good for you! I miss seeing you skate these days, but I’m sure you still are enjoying life. ❤️🙏
for those who miss the grace and the actual dancing johnny weir is doing here i have 2 words: yuzuru hanyu. his skating is a perfection of grace, fluidity and style (never mind the death-defying jumps and such. they seem more icing on the cake that is the sheer beauty of his performances.)
Johnny Weir is a beautiful skater who brings out the full spectrum of the sport. I love that I cannot take my eyes of the smooth coordinated flow he maintains. And now, he is one of the best commentators, reminding us of the jumps, difficulty and fluidity of the skaters! When he speaks, you listen and learn. Not only that, he connects the skaters past performances to allow you to understand the competition better. LOVE YOU JOHNNY!
I have no TV so didn't see any skating for years but because of TH-cam I fell in love with Yuzuru Hanyu. Now seeing this and a couple of other Johnny Weir videos I feel like Yuzuru must have learned a lot seeing Johnny. Am I wrong in thinking Johnny was a trailblazer in his elegance and expressive dancer like moves? So beautiful.
Johnny, you are supremely talented. You're a joy who may be "different". Although I'm female, I've encountered people (generally older and even some in my own family) who have a problem with me not looking traditionally "feminine" and being unmarried, so I especially admire Johnny's tenacity, courage and superb skating technique. Johnny, you stand for all of us who may be considered "different"; you always persevere to seek perfection.
He was excellent when he was a commentator for the 2022 Olympics. Tara Lympskini also was a commentator but Johnny talks quietly and gives credence to the very hard jumps. Johnny makes being gay beautiful with the way he skates.
Johnny Weir was before his time. The judges just didn't know what to do with him. He was more than just an athlete or a skater--he was an ARTIST!
Totally agree! A gorgeous artist and person!
Your comment is so moving and accurately tells how wonderful all those gifted athletes are.
I meant an Olympic gold medal-Michelle has every medal except that one.
... Johnny it is a great artist, he has so much style.
There're many talented and beautiful figure skaters born every year but I still remember clearly those memorable skatings of Michelle Kwan and Johnny Weir.
The only skater I've ever seen ACTUALLY DANCING with the music, he's got an amazing style. Miss him on Ice in Sochi.
i agree, it's sad that he retired
You’ve never watched Daisuke Takahashi then.
No Olympic medal or world championship. Still, one of the most beautiful skaters of either gender I've ever seen. I love that he makes more money than almost any other skater except Kristi, Scott Hamilton & Michelle. A huge part of that is his originality, intriguing personality & intelligence. That ON TOP of being a fabulous skater!
yeah rather than focusing on the points i feel like he genuinely enjoyed skating and dancing and would rather entertain the audience
Check your facts. He’s quite a few!
No
Really 😳 he’s a beautiful figure skater ❤️

He represents the art of figure skating!

it’s not a so-called “sport” figure skating is a sport
stupid commentators…do they usually do football?
I was ready to leave the sport, then I saw this. I wrote an email to him to tell him how moved I was. He wrote me back. Kept me in the sport for 2.5 more years.
I always cry after I watch this. Johnny brought so much passion and fun to the skating world. My favorite skater and skating personality.
He is SUPER PERFECT! !
I prefer to call him ARTIST rather than athlete!
Just call him by his real name. Johny Queer.
He skates with his heart. You can just see the emotion. I love him and his skating!
The da Vinci of skating! A ballet on ice! Incredible artistry. He's one of a kind.
Those jumps...so easy, so beautiful.
Still amazing to watch.....after all these years .
This guy is just unbelievable, I can`t even begin to grasp how someone can be this great at skating. He`s a natural, it`s something you have to be born with.
A really wonderful performance. Beautiful to watch.
This is beautiful in every way I can think of. Johnny brings beauty to the world. Such a talented, lovely man. When something gets me down, he makes me smile.
I feel the same way about Scott Hamilton.
Wow. I could watch this over and over again, Johnny Weir skates this music so beautifully! I would love to find a copy of this with the music, but without the annoying commentary.
Amen! No commentators!
Until I saw johnny I never knew a man could be so beautiful -3
I love how so early in his career, he still shows the same style he has now. Or a lot of it. He completely deserved the National Title.
The best routine I've ever seen!! fluent, gracefull, what more could you want in a male figure skater? :) So proud of you Johnny!!! Keep sticking up for yourself bud :) :) :)
A magical performance !!!
That was incredible, @ Johnny weir what an amazing skate. Beautiful lines and posture!❤️💫
I have loved Johnny forever yet I have never seen this performance. I have no explanation. This is so spectacular!! The jumps look so effortless, the landings exquisite. Thank you Johnny!!
This is one of the most beautiful LP's I've ever seen. It has stuck with me all this time. when i feel kind of down, I come watch it.
PhoenixWindsong me too... he is my favourite skater. Love his technique and flexibility. He is the best.
Same here!
This is, without a doubt, his greatest free skate of his career, thus far. Really amazing. I can't get this program out of my mind.
Matthew C the one he did the next year was fantastic too.
He's amazing on the ice..one of the world's best❤
I saw this live and loved it. Still loving this performance 18 years later. This program was perfect. The music suited him and he looked relaxed and sure of himself. His hand placement when finishing the jumps was just exquisite. I love his commentary, but really miss his skating. ❤
Great performance. So graceful. Powerful.
Yes only a triple.....I loved this program, the music, the artistry.....the guts you brought to it! Memorable.
Eight of them...triples.
Fabulous to watch again. Always gives me happiness to watch

Johnny is one of the greatest ever, a phenomenal athlete and exquisite artist.
Michaelangelo has his sculptures! Mozart has his Piano Concertos, Shakespeare has his plays and sonnets and Johnny Weir has his skating! Watching him skate is like listening to a Rachmaninoff piano concerto! Absolutely Breathtaking!!
Well said!
Great skating; beautiful, Johnny!!!!!
The artistic part is so wonderful to skate to the music with your moves. Technically doing that partis so important but putting those necessary moves into the program effortlessly is so amazing 😉
Stunning, beautiful skating.
Such beautiful lines, he always puts his whole heart into his performance ❤

Brought tears to my eyes! So beautiful, athletic and so graceful. 😍💙🙆🏻♂️🦋✨
Gorgeous program. Way to go, Johnny. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Gorgeous Absolutely & Beautiful Lasting Sound Track unto infinity^^ Xoxo
i just kept watching the ending because it is so beautiful! I was so proud of him and i still am. :)
Johnny was one of the few skaters that could say his best 3 jump was the 3 axel.
i love johnny weir he is such a beautiful skater!!!
Johnny Weir is the best in the world!!!
At his best I have him on a par with Evgeny Plushenko and Robin Cousins. I didn't like the new scoring system.
❤️🙏
He was always one of my favourites. Still as happy today as I was then when he won:))
Eu amava assistir patinaçao no gelo somente por causa do Jhonny weir, que saudade!
Gorgeous
Stunning performance now in 2020!
Artistic expression is awesome
Beautiful !!! Thank you !!!After all these you are still one of the best. 🤗
Johnny rocks! That was incredible!
Skating comes so naturally for him. He's so graceful and smooth on the ice. A beautiful performance!
for those who miss the grace and the actual dancing johnny weir is doing here i have 2 words: yuzuru hanyu. his skating is a perfection of grace, fluidity and style (never mind the death-defying jumps and such. they seem more icing on the cake that is the sheer beauty of his performances.)

I agree - it was so cute to see him so happy! What an amazing job he's done.
Que guapo! Y se ve que lo disfruta, felicidades!
... AMONG my favorite. He is so much fun.
He must have been so young here . kind of makes me sad in a way he still seems so young Super gifted and understands the dance sport completely
He’s such a beautiful skater; I could watch him all day.
Very graceful on the ice. I have always loved watching figure skating competitions for years. He is fantastic!!! Bravo!!!
🤩🤩🤩
Love to watch you! So talented! 🌹

His triple axel was his best and most consistent jump🤩
But that triple loop landing right on the accent of the music is to die for.
Beautiful skater just glides across the ice!
OMG, that was wonderful! Yeah Johnny! :D
Beautiful job.
wow so weird seeing "10 years ago"
Skates so beautiful, and unique best ever Love Johnny!
He is gorgeous! Super elegant! Can’t believe , 15 years ago!
Love love love Johnny!!!!
I could watch him all day
Absolutely stunning 😍
Jhony, the best👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼.
Oh god that made me so emotional he is like magic.

he has CLASS
Really pretty skating, neat costume, quality presentation
