I've played for Eastern Cherokee team Hummingbirds since early mid 90s. Started playin Choctaw style about 2 years ago and am learning the different style of play.so far have played in Tahlequah,Durant, the Choctaw Fair and felt honored to get to play in the first game played on the new field in Broken Bow.I'm 64 and still lovin it.
Found out about ishtaboli from the article in National Geographic. It makes me look more inside my own identity. What actually makes me me? I’m Ukrainian and I really want to preserve my culture with the same level of passion these ppl are telling about theirs 🙏🏼
I'd never heard of this game until watching the second episode of Echo and found your video after looking it up. This video is very informative and learning about the history of this sport is absolutely fascinating. Thanks.
Hey guys first time watching stickball... reminders me of a sport we have in Ireland that we sometimes called stickball too but mostly reffered to as hurling..its very popular. We can touch the ball with our hands and wear helmets but seems to have some similar rules especially the earliest versions of both of the games. th-cam.com/video/I1Vw66Zs0dQ/w-d-xo.html
