My dear since you loved Jamaica so much I think you should consider visiting some of the other islands in the Caribbean like St. Vincent & The Grenadines and also Antigua & Barbuda. The scenery is out of this world and you should also travel on their yachts etc. When you are leaving you will cry because it is absolutely beautiful and the people are warm and friendly. Another thing you could do is purchase an up to date Lonely Planet Guide book to St.Vincent and the Grenadines or Antigua and Barbuda which is the Bible of travel guide books and study it before you visit and you will learn everything you need to know before you visit any of those countries and you will have a fantastic time. Peace and blessings to you. Good luck.

Lady B, Jamaica and other Caribbean Islands (mostly) do not carry marriages on the heads. Number one is GETTING YOUR EDUCATION and owning properties. I’m not Jamaican, but yes, it’s a Caribbean theme! Yes, Jamaicans are very Country proud! Yes! Every country has issues. I’m happy you enjoyed yourself. Next year my birthday will be spent there. Yes, you are right and the Jamaican/American dollars and tourism!

We are CLEAN! Our mothers train us from infancy to bathe at least twice a day, to brush our teeth and comb our hair. School uniforms are clean every day. If you have only one, wash it as you reach home and iron it next morning. House MUST be cleaned too, now with ceramic tiles, wipe with disinfectant every day! That's why household chemicals are big business here. Wash the meat in lime juice or white vinegar before you cook. Clean up as you go so the kitchen stays clean. We Jamaicans are clean!

The immigration system in Jamaica whereby you scan your passport is a new system. You’re supposed to complete a form and questionnaire online before going to Jamaica. The information you provide which includes your passport number and other information regarding your nationality gets vetted before your arrival on the island. Therefore, by the time you get there they would have already done a background check on you and updated their database with their findings. They will flag you if there is anything questionable that they discovered during your background check. When you arrive and scan your passport they will be alerted and you will be directed to an immigration officer for further interview. Otherwise, if everything goes well after you scan your passport you are free to go.

One of my closest friends is Jamaican. Our love language is food, every now and then we ‘gift’ each other our respective cuisines. In as much as I pride myself on my cooking skills, I no cook reach am. When it comes to meat, fish and the like just leave am for them. Their marinating is on another level!
You’re right about their cleanliness too. They don’t joke with vinegar, bleach etc. I hope to visit Jamaica someday.

Obodo, welcome to your new home my sister. No hairs or graces. I was born in Jamaica, grew up in the UK and moved to the USA. From University days in the UK, I’ve dated my fair share of Nigerians beauties. So much so, I wanted to move to Nigeria. I’m currently binging on The Hunt Game show…a Nigerian version of Pop the Ballloon. It is a must watch. I have watched the girls on the show and they are brutal in their banter.
Talk about food, Jamaica Cuisine is second to none. Jollof Rice is one of my favourites. Bumi, my then girlfriend cooked some Jellofe for me and I told her it made me wanted to Bumi home to meet her mother ‘oh.’ I’m listening to you debrief and I am killing myself with laughter!!! I would love to promote a Jamaica Nigerian linkup. Finally, the issue of independence, is an issue that resonates with me. Till we meet again, Walk Good!!!

Aunty B, Before you arrived, your information were already send to custom and immigration officers, Before you arrived, so they already did your background check, so when your passport is scanned if there is any other red flags they would pick it up. And Jamaicans women don't place so much emphasis on getting marry, being Independence is more important to us, we feel good when we have our own money, house and car, so if we get married or not it's ok to us , just as if we have children or not it's still ok to us. Having and owning things for ourselves and being independent is key for us.

When it comes to cooking, Jamaican Cuisine is top draw. Joloffe Rice is right up there, ahead of Ghanaian. Give thanks to mi Bumi oh! After she cooked me that meal, I told her I wanted to meet her mother there and then. I am currently overdosing on The Hunt Game with Nons Miraj. This is the ultimate Pop The Balloon.

As a Jamaican, not being clean or not having a clean house, not being clean in the kitchen or sanitary with food handling , is a huge disgrace, people will talk about you, curse you out and treat you like an outcast. …that goes for both men and women. You’d go to the home of a very poor person and their environment will be sparkling clean. Cleanliness is a big thing in our culture

Aunty B. The young lady is telling you the truth. Jamaican women are taught from early years to be self reliant. It is not encourage to have children until you are mentally and financially ready. The life's order is School, Job, House, Marriage, Kids. If you are not happy in the marriage, you go counseling and if it's still not good DIVORVE is a must.

If you are planning to visit Jamaica, it is important to complete a customs declaration form online before your departure. This allows authorities to conduct background checks in advance. In the event that any red flags are raised during this process, you may be required to meet with an immigration officer upon arrival.

Watching from a Chicago suburb. Jamaicans abroad sometimes face a certain type of xenophobia because of certain stigmas. Me personally won't engage anyone in a conversation unless they prove themselves to be cool with no dishonorable intentions.
Based on my experience, people sometimes try to patronize and scrutinize by asking probing questions and I experienced that sometimes what starts out as a normal exchange turns out to feel like an interrogation. One guy literally asked me if I did something and ran away from Jamaica.
It's like people are approaching you with preconceived notions. I find that people who travel, treat you differently because they are not interacting based on what they may have heard on the Internet ( bare in mind that journalism and media thrives on sensationalism).
I myself as a Jamaican reacts differently to discrimination because we are proud and don't like being pushed around. So I know a lot of people I encounter will not like Jamaicans because I've had to deflate some egos. Sometimes people get to see the calm civil Jamaican but some get to experience the crazy. Like I had a landlord and nobody wanted to complain about the roaches and bedbugs but I moved there and I couldn't stand it so I kept complaining until the landlord told me that he doesn't like Jamaicans because we give too much trouble and of course I gave him a piece of my mind 😆. He had to get pest control but he still wouldn't be consistent so I moved out without telling him by not paying the last month's rent as I decided to live out the deposit. I didn't even tell them I was moving out I just disappeared 😆. He told my neighbor that I owe him 😆

Jamaican immigration is stronger than people realize. The machines that take your picture at the airport have facial recognition software are linked to databases which flag people who are known to be dangerous. We have caught people in the past. The machines are manned, just not in public. Our immigration officers are not shy about deporting people who are flagged through our system. Also, US dollars are used mostly on the north coast tourist areas, the rest of the country, not so much.

She probably said " mi nah buy nuh puss inna bag" . I remember a dancehall song that said " yuh have yuh get vex money suh yuh can showoff", it's a tribute to independent women. Your "get vex money" is empowering in the sense that if the man isn't acting right and she's vexed, she can leave because she has her own money ( get vex money).

Yes, you have to submit an electronic immigration form before you arrive on the island. The airline also sends your information to immigration and customs. The same thing happens in the US, Canada, etc. I think they are called immigration kiosks. I prefer it this way than standing up in long lines. I was shocked when she said she didn't like that lol

Wonderful to see our African people enjoying our beautiful Jamaica! Just want to take a few minutes to address your perception of loose security at the airport. You have that one totally wrong! it's the opposite of what you thought. Jamaica had to automate its immigration system to accommodate tourism growth. They are more connected to other security databases around the world than ever before. They are better informed about who is trying to enter the country now, and I believe are doing a credible job. Case in point, they granted you an easy entry and you proved to be an honest decent person with good intentions! So with that in mind, can you imagine if they made your entry difficult? What would you think of them then? Don't think for a minute that the bad guys can walk in freely. Ask one of them to try and you will see the outcome. By comparison, the level of security to enter any African country is utterly ridiculous! I have been to many and it is a discouragement to visit those countries. We always felt that those African Countries should study the Airport security system of the larger modernized world. So herein lies part of the answer to your question on why Nigeria can't match Jamaican tourism. You have to grant acceptable access to the country! This message by no means suggests that everything about Jamaican immigration management is perfect. But it's fair to give credit where it is due. Hope this helps.

You are screened when you come through the airport without knowing my dear. No worry 😅😅 my uncle works at the Airport and its not easy as you think. They made it look that way but you are screened.

That’s true. Everyone is screened, lots of non visible screens happening around the Caribbean and other countries! Canada Airports screen visibly and non visibly to the eyes of the visitors!

As a Jamaican who lives abroad for 24 years, this enlightened to me to hear you speak so positively about my country.
My neighbour who from Ghana said the same thing that until she meet me and my other friend who is a Jamaican as well and we all live in the same area in Edmonton Alberta, she thought all Jamaican was aggressive! sometime we just need to take the time to talk to people and get to know each other. We all human being and yes as a Jamaican we could be a little defensive and for good reason because we’ve been judged a lot.
And Jamaican love Africa and Africans. I get a chance to visit Namibia and that was the trip of my life. I look forward to retire in Africa and travel and get to know and meet my people. Would love to visit West Africa, especially Nigeria and Ghana.

You came through the Tourist Jamaica airport, they know who is coming in and out. AirPort doesn’t pose threat. That airport is very good.

As a naija babe..😊🇳🇬🇯🇲 the missionary part got me rolling 😅😅 i love the fact that their women do not take nonsense at all and believe in empowering themselves, i really hope that Nigeria women will learn from this really.. 🤦
