As a teenager from 1993 growing up in the UK this music changed my life forever and I am still a hardcore follower to this day, couldn't imagine my life without it.

There's no color to music. It's not black or white music. What if a black person likes classic rock they're listening to "white music" come on

It's really funny: Arrested Development and alt-hip hop looked like THEY, not the gangstas and Dr. Dre, were the future of hip hop in 1992. I actually think they were unfairly written out of hip hop history. I loved their love of African culture, deep south culture instead of the West and East Coast, and chill sampling of jazz and African rhythms. They were the first Atlanta hip hop group to sell platinum records.

Mmmmm, I'm not really sure why but I think I remember reading something like they all knew the group was temporary or a musical project. Speech, if you haven't checked out his TH-cam channel, you should. He has some good documentaries and music.

A good question. I think tastes changed, and gangsta rap, Snoop, and Dr. Dre were getting big in 1992 or so, and it seemed like there was no place for guys in daishikis with southern and soul grooves. A lot of people also felt their attitude toward gangsta rap was that of snotty jerks who looked down on it moralistically. Not true, but that's what people thought all the same.

The south started rising to the top in the 2000s and has been on top and the main influence of hip hop ever since 💯

Convenient how they FAILED to mention the Jamaican-born Founder of Hip Hop - DJ Kool Herc (Clive Campbell)!

How wrong this documentary was ...Arrested Development were a flash in the pan, and hiphop quickly moved into the bling-bling era after '94

See, I'm not sure, I think Arrested Development have been unfairly written out of the story of hip hop. They were HUGE in 1992, won all the grammys, beat the Chronic, and were absolutely everywhere. They were victims of how time and taste moved on, but I don't think we should dismiss them. They were an alternate path for rap music to go.
