I lived in Eaton House Vicarage Crescent from 1940 to 1955 from our flat we overlooked Old Battersea House and St Mary’s Vicarage during the war our community air raid shelter I was 4 when the war started I went to St mary’s infant junior school and then Battersea County Calvert Road my memories of war as a child that this was normal our dads were in army and Mums went to work and our grandparents looked after us and the community spirit was fantastic your pictures of Battersea square .high street and St Mary’s church brought all the memories both happy and sad i am in my 80s now and live Wigan but i will never forget my Battersea roots
