    I don’t know who that is in the photo challenge, but I’m familiar with the ritual. The queen is inserted in the nose. This makes your opponent not want to capture the queen. (Who would?)

    Fun fact: This tournament was held through telephones and when the first move was told to Fischer he heard it d4 instead of e4. That's why he went Nf6 and he found in a few minutes that it was e4 and not d4

    Imagine agadmator commentating on a football match hahaha
    "[insert team] has the white shirts and they open with [insert player] to [insert another player].
    ...
    [insert yet another player] makes a long pass to [insert a player that is none of the above]. What's the idea here? Ok threatening to enter the goal box with tempo but this is actually a terrible blunder because it's an offside.
    ...
    And now [insert player] tackles [another insert another player] wins you the ball.. And the game.
    ...
    And it was in this position that the white manager resigned the game. Why did he resign? Well there isn't that much to do here, black has an unstoppable passed pawn that's going to march its way to victory. "

    After this game was played I studied Alekhine’s Defense - especially the 4 pawns attack - and “Pawn Power in Chess”. At the Australian National Intervarsity Tournament I was able to play it 3 times, grabbed a Pawn in each game, held onto it tenaciously and got 3 draws. I was unrated and my weakest opponent was 2247 (Aust. ELO). I learnt a lot about the importance of Pawns and their structure and got some solid practical experience.

      If he were still alive and sane he could surpass Magnus Carlsen. They are the best at different times. No doubt.

    • @NationalSportsEntertainmentNSE
      @NationalSportsEntertainmentNSE ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah Magnus is like Bobby. Way different styles. I think Rapport is closest to Bobby’s style but the fact they are literally retired due to being bored of winning.
      I always edge Bobby only because he didn’t have the benefit of engines(I know they had some computers but he needed to go over every game via recreation)
      Also I can’t say Bobby’s Elo is fair. There are guys who simply play for elo which is the goal but back then it wasn’t a deal like today. I’m sure he could have ran up his elo just playing to play.
      Anyway it is a shame. The 2 consensus runaway greatest to ever do it never got to play. The best we will get is an engine of both but an engine can’t do what Bobby did to be fair.

    • @NationalSportsEntertainmentNSE
      @NationalSportsEntertainmentNSE ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Greatermaximhe wasn’t insane either. Even if I concede he was he was definitely driven into anger and paranoia by the government
      His mom worked for the soviets so as a kid they were interrogating him for being a “spy”
      The chess federation truly hated him because he didn’t act the way they wanted. They really did have jewish(Ashkenaz) elites who hated the fact a born jew who disavowed Judaism won
      He never celebrated 9-11. He essentially said “what did you expect?”
      He knew bush sr well. He literally had a warrant out out for his arrest Over a chess game he won and then badmouthed bushes handling of the Persian Gulf
      I’m not defending everything he said but I get his perspective and he is not spouting nonsense. He’s obviously angry and ranting about what in life and chess bothered him. I think Bobby deserved so much better than he got.

    Interesting that Fischer used the Alekhine Defense up to his 1972 match with Spassky, but not in the 1992 rematch.
    Although I had forgotten that Spassky only played 1 e4 once in the 2nd match.
    Usually when a player resigned without waiting for a reply it meant that the game was adjourned and the player convinced himself it was hopeless to resume.

    @8:19; wouldn't it be a good idea for Black to play Ra5

    11.01 - A fast pawn? What's that? (I'm just kidding btw)
