I can remember Wayne Rooney, more than once, chasing all the way back to make crucial defensive tackles...putting in a real shift...and he's a legend at United. Too many current United players are not prepared to work hard...they want the ball, but won't work hard to win it back.
People applaud Bruno for doing that, but fail to recognize it's ONLY when he's upset, it's not the norm. When he's baby raging, that's the only time you see him bust a lung to get back and win the ball (lost count of the amount of times he just drags someone down for a foul instead)

The Athletic carried out analysis on United under Ole and Rangnick and in both games they looked at it came back to Rashford not tracking back, losing his men and not putting in the effort and 2 / 3 years later were still talking about him. Pellistri is a hard runner who tracks back,defends perfect then runs to attack and sets up goals .Uruguay start him in International games for a reason. There is a game United recently won 1:0 Pellistri came on and it was his run and fight down the right that saved the day..in a few minutes he did more than Antony,sancho ,Rashford all season down the wings... Maguire ,Mctominay were on selling list in Sumner, no change they have Never been Good enough for now 3 years and they are still hanging around the club

I like that Carra has had the balls to call out Sir Marcus Rashford, he seems to get a free pass because he has an MBE etc but football wise he has been abysmal this season. Biggest problem for Man Utd is there seems to be no consequences for these under performing players, they just trot out to the next game and get away with these scandalous performances time and time again.

Rashford isn't the only one but I think it's clear he doesn't have the mental strength to play for Utd. He's a passenger when things get tough and that's being kind. Doesn't matter about your confidence, off field issues. You're a professional player and there's no excuse under the sun for putting in as little effort as he has been for a lot of this season, not just against Newcastle. He's ok when the team plays well and other players are leading the way but he's not a leader by example. I've personally seen enough of him to think it's best he leaves the club and finds a career somewhere else where there's no pressure on him. He's not cut out for Utd when he's so often off the boil. His form last season was relatively short lived and it was only goals. He's not a figher or a leader

Martinez aside, none of them have any mental strength. The entire squad needs to be scrapped, this manager may not be the answer but no manager can work with players that crumble under every setback and act out when things don't go their way. It's a cultural problem coupled with fragmented and poor recruitment. Changing manager and letting him over spend for 2 windows is not the answer and they keep repeating the cycle. The model needs to change to a director hierarchy and then they can identify the right manager with the style they want and ensure the squad is overhauled beyond a brief tenure.
he's never been good enough tbh. low football iq, low work rate, bad heading, suspect finishing and worst of all he is very inconsistent. just a streaky player with bad form outweighting the good. Nice technique and above average but not elite dribbler. the only thing elite about him is his pace. could be used in a proper team with a proper game plan but he is not and never will be the best player on the pitch for a team contending for biggest trophies.

Newcastle are an incredibly hard working team to a man. Every single one of them chases every ball every single time. That high tempo and relentless energy is why they are doing so well under Howe. Despite having more than a full squad worth of injuries and also having played mid week. But playing Man U the other night really demonstrated the contrasting mentality of both teams. One team wants to win and go places, and probably will. The other team is Manchester United.

Man like Roy is still seriously in love with his team. I know it is difficult for him to see how this recent set of players, owners and management bath in mediocrity. The standards have really, really fallen. On Rashy, I have watched him closely, he looks like he doesn't give a damn about the club & his commitments right now.
All he cares about is the $$$ - like most of our over rated players … the difference against New castle was easy to spot - it was all cultural and behavioural: they had the desire and belief. Martial has been here since 2015, Rashford 2015, McTominay 2016, AWB 2019, Dalot 2018, as much as I was impressed by them yesterday Maguire has been here since 2019 and Shaw 2014. They have went through LVG, Jose, Ole, Rangnick, and now Ten Hag. Along with Lindelof 2017 I can't believe some of them are still playing for Manchester United when the same things keeps happening during big matches like this and the managers saying the same things for the last 5+ years. Lazy and Uninspiring, the only reason we haven't got rid of any of them is because we're paying them 100k to 350k for dragging us unconvincingly to TOP 4 every season and no one else with good business sense would pay that kind of wages.

Carragher has it spot on when it comes to rashford and local players. Even though Dan Burn & Sean Longstaff are injured, they still attended the game, and were seen waiting in the tunnels. Say what you want about talent & footballing ability. Dan Burn offers more for Newcastle than Rashford does for United

As a liverpool fan, when our team went through long long tunnel without light 12 years ago, I had no day for drying my eyes in every seasons. Nevertheless, the reason I never gave up, that was two man, a great captain and a great local boy, Stevie and Carra. Keane and Carra know what local boy means and what should they do for their symbol on their shirts.
He was an amazing leader on and off the pitch, has great knowledge and passion for the club, has management experience, is highly respected by the club, players and fans.... Give Keano the job; He can't do worse than Solskjaer.

@@sachinthakkar4131 Can't use Messi as a reference here. Ultimately, the team setup & strategy play a huge part. Messi is the best attacker/playmaker in Argentina team, but he's 35. The team is built around him, so all other 9 outfield players ran, defend and press in his absence, so that when there's turnover Messi will be at his optimum fitness to run the game. For Rashford, he is not at that Messi level and doesn't have the luxury of good players in his team to do the same defending and pressing in his absence, so he MUST be part of the team to defend & press.

I have to agree with Roy/Jaime. You can see the approach with some of the senior players like Rashford is rubbing off on the younger players. Look at the work rate of Garnacho for example vs Newcastle. When you allow players to walk around and sulk like Sancho, Rashford, Fernandes, Martial, it sets the standard for the younger players

Keane was a different breed, if someone one wasn't putting in a shift or falling below the standards, they would get their ass kicked, him giving Andy Cole a right bollocking in the 96 FA cup final when Cole lost the ball and Collymore nearly scored was a prime example. There is no one like that at United anymore.
Nunez is a great example, yes hes missed a lot of chances and his main job is to be the goal scorer, but he doesnt stop running, he plays his heart out every game and thats why the fans love him and back him 100%. Rashford just doesnt do the work.

My theory might be wrong but I think Ten Hag tried to be a ‘hard manager’ and it’s backfiring on him. You have to find the balance between being tough and putting an arm around a players shoulder or you’ll alienate them. With the money they’ve spent they should be doing much better. They talk about Martial not trying, with all the injuries martial has had and a loan spell, he’s managed 90 goals in 316 appearances for Man Utd in his career, Rashford who been able to stay mostly fit throughout his senior career and never had loan spell elsewhere has 125 goals in 377 appearances, he has made 61 more appearances and only managed 35 more goals than martial. But for some reason Martial doesn’t try and don’t care apparently 👀

I hated Keane as a player (i'm a Liverpool supporter), but respected him as he iaid it all on the line come match day and those who played alongside him knew they had a fighter in the team. While he may not be the most charismatic, or humerous pundit around, you have to admit he talks a lot of sense.

Rashford isn't the only one but I think it's clear he doesn't have the mental strength to play for Utd. He's a passenger when things get tough and that's being kind. Doesn't matter about your confidence, off field issues. You're a professional player and there's no excuse under the sun for putting in as little effort as he has been for a lot of this season, not just against Newcastle. He's ok when the team plays well and other players are leading the way but he's not a leader by example. I've personally seen enough of him to think it's best he leaves the club and finds a career somewhere else where there's no pressure on him. He's not cut out for Utd when he's so often off the boil. The entire squad needs to be scrapped, this manager may not be the answer but no manager can work with players that crumble under every setback and act out when things don't go their way. It's a cultural problem coupled with fragmented and poor recruitment. Changing manager and letting him over spend for 2 windows is not the answer and they keep repeating the cycle. The model needs to change to a director hierarchy and then they can identify the right manager with the style they want and ensure the squad is overhauled beyond a brief tenure.

Newcastle are an incredibly hard working team to a man. Every single one of them chases every ball every single time. That high tempo and relentless energy is why they are doing so well under Howe. Despite having more than a full squad worth of injuries and also having played mid week. But playing Man U the other night really demonstrated the contrasting mentality of both teams. One team wants to win and go places, and probably will. The other team is Manchester United.

Man like Roy is still seriously in love with his team. I know it is difficult for him to see how this recent set of players, owners and management bath in mediocrity. The standards have really, really fallen.
On Rashy, I have watched him closely, he looks like he doesn't give a damn about the club & his commitments right now.
All he cares about is the $$$ - like most of our over rated players … the difference against New castle was easy to spot - it was all cultural and behavioural: they had the desire and belief.
Man utd were hopeful and hopeless all in the same sentence. No desire, no heart. To last to every second ball tells you something.
Martial has been here since 2015, Rashford 2015, McTominay 2016, AWB 2019, Dalot 2018, as much as I was impressed by them yesterday Maguire has been here since 2019 and Shaw 2014. They have went through LVG, Jose, Ole, Rangnick, and now Ten Hag. Along with Lindelof 2017 I can't believe some of them are still playing for Manchester United when the same things keeps happening during big matches like this and the managers saying the same things for the last 5+ years. Lazy and Uninspiring, the only reason we haven't got rid of any of them is because we're paying them 100k to 350k for dragging us unconvincingly to TOP 4 every season and no one else with good business sense would pay that kind of wages.
I think it's time to accept that the Manager is not the problem. It's the players.
Just glad to see that others see what I think. The players listed there have got away with it for too long and we've put them on big contracts. They'll continue to get managers sacked. I'm not massively fussed with ten haags tactics, but we can't keep sacking managers and keeling these players

The team is built around him, so all other 9 outfield players ran, defend and press in his absence, so that when there's turnover Messi will be at his optimum fitness to run the game.
For Rashford, he is not at that Messi level and doesn't have the luxury of good players in his team to do the same defending and pressing in his absence, so he MUST be part of the team to defend & press.

I have to agree with Roy/Jaime. You can see the approach with some of the senior players like Rashford is rubbing off on the younger players. Look at the work rate of Garnacho for example vs Newcastle. When you allow players to walk around and sulk like Sancho, Rashford, Fernandes, Martial, it sets the standard for the younger players

My theory might be wrong but I think Ten Hag tried to be a ‘hard manager’ and it’s backfiring on him. You have to find the balance between being tough and putting an arm around a players shoulder or you’ll alienate them. With the money they’ve spent they should be doing much better. At the moment, it seems like they want Tin Hat out and I bet they’ll win.

If you are being paid a ludicrous amount of money to play football, no matter what kind of form you are in or whatever, you run yourself into the ground for your football club week in week out - bottom line. They talk about Martial not trying, with all the injuries martial has had and a loan spell, he’s managed 90 goals in 316 appearances for Man Utd in his career, Rashford who been able to stay mostly fit throughout his senior career and never had loan spell elsewhere has 125 goals in 377 appearances, he has made 61 more appearances and only managed 35 more goals than martial. But for some reason Martial doesn’t try and don’t care apparently 👀
Just have to compare the performance and attitude of the two teams last night. The gulf between the two is astounding. Even more so given the fact that Newcastle started their third game of the week with the same 11.

I hated Keane as a player (i'm a Liverpool supporter), but respected him as he iaid it all on the line come match day and those who played alongside him knew they had a fighter in the team. While he may not be the most charismatic, or humerous pundit around, you have to admit he talks a lot of sense.

Every player can dip in confidence but what separates good from great players is that these players always fight back, they will put in the hard yards for the team whereas Rashford on the other hand gives the impression that he couldn't care less.
