12:00 Criston confesses because the last time a Kingsguard broke his sacred vow of celibacy, about 40 years ago, he was indeed gelded and tortured (and that guy didn’t even have sex with the king’s own daughter). Criston is right to confess in order to plead for the mercy of a quick death.
@@havok6280 Did we watch the same show? Jamie was a gray character, I wouldn't say he ever got fully redeemed, we more just started to understand his point of view
@@robertfishburn8545right idk what these ppl are talking about lol throwing a kid from a window is indeed irredeemable lol it’s like ppl lose since of honor when they watch these shows
They're all family. Daemon and Viserys had parents and grandparents who were siblings. Rhaenys' father married his aunt, who was the daughter of a Baratheon and Rhaenys' great grandmother. Rhaenyra's parents were cousins. Aegon the Conqueror started the Targaryen line by marrying both his sisters. They are all related. One way or another.
You were right on target with interpreting Alison’s entrance to the feast. It was a symbolic declaration of war, especially with her very cold greeting to Rhaenyra.
So Criston basically broke his vows, then thought marrying the princess would help him get out of that and that was the only thing he was asking Rhaenyra to run for. Not love, shame.
Cole's request isn't that unreasonable. Prince Duncan Targaryen gave up the throne for love. In the real would Elisabeth II's father did the same. The problem is Rhaenyra doesn't love Cole. She loves Daemon.
I believe you mean the late Queen Elizabeth II of England’s uncle. When her uncle abdicated then Queen Elizabeth’s father became the King. And she succeeded upon her father’s death.
Well she don’t love criston so the choice was easy…you see she even tells daemon to take her to dragonstone. He’s who she really loves. Also the Targaryens a incest house even daemon parents and grandparents was siblings. Daemon didn’t send the little boy that was his old mistress gave the info to Otto but it wasn’t sent by daemon.
Of course I read the comments! Just very busy with recording/editing, and outside life (I am very pregnant😮💨) I love reading the comments and I will always get around to responding❤️
@@eviereacts Well I’m surprised and happy to have been proven wrong. Didn’t know you were pregnant as well so my bad lol. Hope you saw all of them. Have a good day.
3:17 well, you're wrong about that, rhaenyra WOULD! just like any mother or any person would, in the game of thrones it's always ‘me against you’ and aegon's status as a male heir will always threaten rhaenyra bc she is a female heir (patriarchy i KNOW) so yeah in order to save herself and her side she'd ultimately have to get rid of her competition if not now then later, otto has his own ambitions but he is saying the right thing here
The thing that always makes me angry about this is that Otto did the things that would lead to such an outcome. First, he talked Viserys into declaring Rhaenyra as his heir, in order to bypass Daemon, due to the bad blood between Daemon and Otto. Then he did whatever he could to advance the potential of Viserys choosing Alicent to marry. If he had just held off on pushing Viserys to declare Rhaenyra his heir he might have easily had his grandson Aegon as heir, according to both tradition and precedent. So I place the greatest blame on Otto for the danger he is putting his own grandchildren or Rhaenyra and her children in.
Daemon didn't send the boy to Otto with the information, Daemon's lover, Lady Misaria did. She, like Varys, has orphan children spying for her. The boy saw Daemon and Rhaenyra at the Pleasure House. He told Misaria, and Misaria send him to Otto with the information.
My theory is that Criston was already triggered and when he saw Daemon with Rhanera, he tried to stop him. And Lenore tried to stop Criston and then Joffrey. At this point Criston must have felt like he was surrounded by a bunch of vipers and he went nuts.
I partially agree with you about him feeling surrounded by disingenuous people. However the main cause of Criston's outburst is his own feeling of shame. He's looked down on people who make false vows his entire life probably. He now realizes he's no better than them.
@@havok6280 So why the attempted suicide and the earlier confession of guilt to the Queen? He wanted to be punished for his actions since he literally asked to be put to death. His rage was clearly driven by guilt and shame.
@@blackeyedlily Well then, it seems we completely agree. The trigger was Joffery's ill considered approach. However the primary/ core motivation for the assault was Cole's feelings of shame and self loathing.

“We Light the Way” is the motto of House Hightower, due to their famous lighthouse beacon
16:18 That's 100% what happened. Alicent's character arc made a significant shift here.
My wife and I are all for team DaeRhae. We were seriously hoping they'd just fly off together on dragon back to Dragonstone and get married.
Daemyra is the official name :)
And the final score is . . .
Weddings: 2
Jofferys: 0
It's a cursed name. I fear for Rhaenyra's son Joffrey. 😮
Like I get Criston's point of view but he should have understood what he gave up once he became Kingsguard, no lands, no wife and no kids
Yeah, Criston is irredeemable at this point.
He understood what he was giving up. The problem was he broke his vows and was trying to regain his honor.

“No, I mean, uh…you know…”
Rhaenyra and Laenor are second cousins. Even first cousin marriage isn’t considered incest in Westeros.
