Beautiful playing that puts the beauty of the music first, rather than the ego of the player, which is a higher form of art.

What a gift: to make a piano talk and to bring to the ears of the beholder, the expression of the composer through visual fragrance. It is beautifully played. Thank you. Though the world expands in cold clanking technological process, it is but good to find, and enjoy, these treasures through this readily available medium.

If I'm having a down day, I listen to this and can't help but grin and move in time with it.

One of Billy Mayerl's finest pieces. A faultless interpretation.

Phillip Dyson made an excellent CD of Billy Mayerl compositions, "The Nimble Fingered Gentleman".

don t agree with the "too slow" comments. Billy Mayerl sometimes "dashed off" tunes, and played his own compositions too fast..tunes need to breathe...

The Darling Buds of Mayerl...would make a nice album title.

who knows where could we find the music score?

Your tempo is best; I found the original to be too fast, losing the light-hearted whimsical stride “Sweet William” would suggest.

Why so slow? Mayerl in his slowest version played it almost twice as fast. as this.

Mayerl, like Gershwin, sometimes played his music a bit too fast in my opinion. This tempo sounds good here, especially with the reverb in the room.

@@mstalcup I think he did it to tease other pianists and impress his fans. But you have to agree he was a master of technique.
