It is a beautiful video. Thank you so much for this lecture demonstration. I am a Saamavedi and I am fortunate to get an opportunity to learn Saamagaana from my Guruji Pandit Vaman Shroutigal.
At the same time I am a student of North Indian Classical(vocal) Music. I'm privileged to get training from Pandit Nihar Ranjan Banerjee for last 30 years.
I think there has to be a correction made in this video. "Stobha"s are not at all anything even closer to "Alap" in classical music. They are integral part of the Saama itself.
In the case of Alap we have a liberty to express ourselves according to our choice(staying within the grammar of the Raag). But, for "Stobha" no one can have that liberty.
    Thank you again....

Wow so informative. It pains my heart to know that our thousands of years old Vedic tradition of singing is dying. We all should do whatever's possible to preserve it or it would be a big loss to not just Hindus but whole humanity.

@@johnlawrence2757 There's plenty of Gurus who are well versed and capable of imparting knowledge. Even if I receive 20% of the Vedic gyan I would consider myself lucky. But there's a proper time for everything in the world. I neither have time nor the resources to dedicate myself into such an important endeavour currently.
I will surely dive into it soon. Do not be worried about that.

A lot depends on how our academic fraternity and the society on the whole want to perceive the situation and handle it. The stare govts could perhaps help and of course the Central govt. Its sad that our rich heritage is not always preserved the way it ought to be.

i spent time on this and found few things. First i thought, we can encourage kids to learn this by throwing carrots like fame and money (50 lakhs for dedicated study for 16 years). What i found is that some folks are interested in learning the "prayoga" or ritual part of vedas for their livelihood. Some learn vedas in depth for satisfaction but very less. The young crowd is not interested to take a deep dive. It is not even the money or recognition that is the problem. The problem from parents and young gen is that they dont get brides to marry. Most brides who have studied sslc or more, dont want to marry a vedic person or a cook or the ones who do traditional work (applies to other arts as well). This is true even if the bridegroom has quite a bit of money. It is the stigma of of "old age/hale kala/purana zaama ka ladka". I gave up as there was not much i could do to solve this. We want good things to sustain, but we want our sons/daughters to be (or marry) software engineers or doctors. very few give their sons/daughters for this type of lifestyle. why blame others, when we are the reason ourselves.
