I got the maxima in a silver 2018 sv and I got to say this car runs great. The interior is nice and the seats are some comfortable and the in side looks great I love it.
I have a 17 model and I think the CVT kicks butt. If you haven't driven the new Nissan CVT you don't know what you are talking about. Its always in the power band, and the exhaust sounds pretty nice too!

I do t know why everyone hates the car tbh. I have the 2013 sv with the cvt and it doesn't really drown at all. Unless your driving on a racetrack you wont notice any difference between the cvt and a regular auto.
I'm looking to lease a new car and test drove the Maxima. I really want to like this car but it just doesn't feel as spacious inside as I'd like. One thing I noticed during a brief drive in heavy traffic is that I wish the car felt a little quicker. It feels a tad mushy when I hit the throttle to change lanes and the engines revs higher than seems to be necessary. Perhaps this is the CVT at work and it takes some getting used to. There is substantial engine noise too (imo). One great thing about this car is the base model is loaded. I love the cloth seats. The backseat lacks headroom because of the way the roof is swept down. Good looking car in it's own way. I'm between the Maxima and Chev Impala, which really surprised me with its performance. Bigger car and much more roomy inside. Decisions, decisions
at 1 min 46 seconds "the sport mode is going to adjust the suspension settings", which is a bit odd, since it doesn't have adjustable suspension. Steering wheel and shift points of the CVT change, and sound changes above the SV model. Lotta internet talk about adjustable suspension. From what I've found, they do not have it. If you find it, post it please.
But it works haha. I will say it's not the prettiest but even though it's old it still doesn't look worse than other manufacturers outside of the luxury category. It's just a fob that nobody's going to see but you anyway.
For me, the deal-breaker for Maximas is the CVT. The car deserves a 6 or 8 speed auto. But seeing that Nissan only provides CVTs in their cars, it is no wonder they continue to lose market share. Good design. Bad transmission.

For that price i will get the infinity q50 alll wheel drive with the 7 speed automatic, which the Q50 is made in japan!!
As an engineer that designs tooling for the auto industry, I can tell you firsthand that no car keeps you in the powerband the way a CVT does; it was banned from Formula 1 for this reason. Most negative comments are from people that don't own this car - I do. Check reviews on the internet to get the real owner's perspectives (like kbb.com or edmunds.com)-not the youtube comments. Then check the passing times on car and driver; not many cars in this price range come close. (30-50 & 50-70 passing times are what really counts out on the street). This car is a beast! But great for me, all these people just don't know. This was the homework I did before buying this car. If the CVT could support an engine producing over 300hp, this thing would kill everything out there; but that is the Achille's heel of a CVT-you reach a compromise between the friction its metal belt can sustain (without slippage) and the horsepower the engine can provide (300hp is the most the belt can take without slipping since it is a "push-belt" that is squeezed between two pulleys).

Do not buy a Nissan. Only Nissan use fixed code for smart start engine system. It is for an auto theft to buy signal hacking device that makes copy signal to unlock the door and start engine. So, Nissan cars have been targeted by a car theft. For example, more than 10 Nissan cars were stolen in a day within 1 mile Frankford@Marsh Lane in Dallas, TX, 75287. One of them were stolen in front of Walmart. She just stopped by the Walmart to buy some goods. After she shopped, she found out her Nissan Maxima was stolen. 2016 Nissan Maxima and 2017 Nissan Maxima, 2015 Nissan Juke were stolen in one apartment-Gardens at vail apartment around this place. Especially, 2016, 2017, and 2018 Maxima have been stolen a lot recently.
While the design of this Maxima is head and shoulders better than the ugly , 'design fail' that is the 2018 Camry, not sure how Nissan is basically $10,000 higher across the board on ALL trim levels compared to the Camry. ?!?
This car should have economy level of equipment-2.0 unleaded with 140 HP for ex.and manual transmission...I really don't understand crazy americans with 300 hp cars
Butter Boy i bought the 2017 maxima 7months ago..destroyed the 2016 subaru WRX stick shift in rolling race 50 mph to 100mph beat the wrx 3times..also 2016 dodge charger v6 all wheel drive the maxima destroyed them in straightline race. 2019 should come with a facelift! AWD! Better breaker and possibly 20/30 more horsepower and still a CVT of course

Nissan need to remodel the key fob. It has been that design almost 10 years.
right, because I use the key fob from inside my pocket all day long
But it works haha. I will say it's not the prettiest but even though it's old it still doesn't look worse than other manufacturers outside of the luxury category. It's just a fob that nobody's going to see but you anyway.
I actually like it its a push start anyway and slides nicely into the key holder ledt of the wheel
