The rules did say the fencers need to remain completely still after they come en garde before Allez is called, for what that's worth lol. Also I seems to remember some Romanian dude that rocks forward massively to get a faster launch and just stumbles or pretends to not hear the ref if he didn't time it right to force halt being called. It would be hard to police that kind of behaviors if you don't enforce it this hard i guess. If the fencer is rocking back and forward he can just say he's not ready whenever he starts slow and claim that he's still finding his balance etc.

I was using the Italian commentary stream because the English stream had an audio/video desync but for the first severa minutes of the Italian stream they had a lovely view of the wrong side of the piste so i begrudgingly grabbed the English stream, fixed the desync, and pulled out what I needed to fill in the video
@@CyrusofChaos - absolutely the right choice, even if aside from the fencing terms Italian is incomprehensible to me - it was still better than whatever the English commentary may have been, based on past experience.
