Greetings from Ireland, Beautiful garden, Its the bees knees. Some very hardy plants we have are Cranesbill geraniums, Hostas, Orvala, Astrantias Trollius chinensis, Brooks thistle, Acanthus bears breechs, Crocosmia lucifer, Astilbes, and Sage caradonna. Plants that are not hardy we cover with wood chip for winter and remove in early spring.

I struggle with the Clematis vine. I love them so much but continue to somehow plant them in a location where they do not produce any flowers or only a couple. Yours are stunning! Think I will order a new one that is pink. I am also in zone 8. New to gardening, beds are only a few years old. I have a lot of things that are doing fantastic this year. Thanks for sharing

Thanks for watching @debbieholst3720. Clematis can be tricky. It took me a while to find the right spots, too. I think the one of mine that's doing the best is in a spot where the soil has been most amended. New garden beds can take some time for the soil to really have enough good organic material, but dont give up. I have a couple of clematis vines in newer beds too that haven't taken off as well as others. But I'm trying to give them time as I keep working the soil and I hope that eventually they'll become happier.

Thanks for sharing. The two varieties of roses you have are very colorful. I have not focused on perennials much. I always fight the crowds each year at my local garden store to get the best annuals when they are trucked in. I’ll give the Purple Sensation you mentioned a try.

Thanks, @KevinRiley-Ih9hv! It's hard to beat annuals for their showiness all season long. They are the best option for continuously blooming flowers for containers and flower pots. They also help add color to garden spots where your perennials may be still getting established. So don't forgo the annuals completely. I actually need to use them more often to hide some of the more unsightly spots in my garden beds. But do start adding those perennials that will return year after year and save you time and money as your gardens evolve. Alliums are a great choice. You may not find bulbs until late summer, but you will likely find the millenium allium as a potted plant in your local garden center this spring or summer. You'll really love seeing the bees and butterflies covering them.
