  • Hey everyone! It's time for another JrZ CarZ ownership review. This time, check out my 2008 Honda Odyssey EX-L with the tried and true 3.5L i-vtec engine. I'll give you a walkaround, and an ownership review of the good and bad of the van. There's so much storage, and while I was creating the video I now see just how many cup holders there are for your passengers.

    Thanks for the wonderful review. My wife and I looked at a 2006 EX-L in this color yesterday and passed on it because of some undisclosed damage, and annoying noises in the cabin. BUT! I drove it long enough to really enjoy the ride, quiet, and it was the easiest to get in/out of vehicle I've ever driven. We're 67/68 (she's 5'0" and I'm 6'0" and large) and have looked at several vehicles to replace our '03 Buick Park Avenue Ultra that got taken out by a jaywalking deer. Can't get parts to fix the old girl, so we need another good older vehicle. I'm pretty determined to find a 3rd gen EX-L for us - leaning towards the '08-'10 for the refinements and rear camera. We were quite shocked by the storage options. Hoping to find a nice one before winter comes. I like that the rear seat folds down like that and leaves room for a narrow twin frame and foldable mattress. Where we're having more dr. appts.,, it would be nice to have a place to relax and nap while one or the other of us is doing treatments, or shopping. Again, thanks for the well done walk through and recommendations.

      Thanks for the kind words. This is still my daily driver and we'll be taking it for a second trip to Florida soon. The only complaints I have are the tire options being an oddball size (235/65/16) and it being a timing belt motor that you need to adjust valves. Both of those are on-deck to be done. It is a nice van, and my youngest told me I better not get rid of it 😄

    I had an exact 2008 color and interior wise. Except it had Nav. Loved that van and it was the most comfortable car ever. Still have an odyssey, but it is a 2023 Touring now. I got a 2013 to replace my 2008 and was going to take it back because it wasn’t nearly as comfortable!

      I still DD the Oddy about 70 miles daily. Even though my wife's car is better on gas, I always take the van cause it's so much more comfortable to drive. I need to do a couple maintenance items with it over 161k miles but it sure as hell beats having a car payment 👍

      @@JrZCarZ Just picked up 08 touring white. 210k. Failed timing belt tensioner. Otherwise excellent shape. $750. Going to go through her completely. Hopefully no bent valves, but I am sure tension was held between the crank and cams since it was just the tensioner side that failed. I hope, it's too cold out to open her up, but as soon as it breaks freezing, I'm digging in.

    Did you check to see if manufacturers maintenence was followed asI believe it has an INTERFERENCE engine and requires the timing belt be REPLACED every 60k-105k? 2000 dollar bill if you are lucky enough to find a dealer who will do it for you.Of coarse you could chance it but if it slips,breaks,or comes off engine is junk!The pistons smash into the valves.Check it out man it's REAL!

      @jimmellenberger8505 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@torreypires6192my son's 05 EX-L had the water pump hang and burn the belt, causing interference damage. Water pump and timing belt replacement quoted at $750 from our mechanic, but a rebuild was looking at 3,000. Ahh, so I found a 55k mile JDM engine, that cost extra to fit, because you have to switch parts, as JDMs are from right hand drive Japanese cars. But, he now has a low-mileage engine that should last a long time, with a brand new pump and belt, so good for another 90-100 miles before replacing again.
      I'm about to get an 08 Odyssey, myself, even though it's just me, I need a vehicle that can handle a mobility scooter. Getting it with the tow package, as well. Decent price, too, if you shop around.

      I would double check to see if the timing belt was done. If it was, Happy motoring. If it wasn't, then you have a negotiating piece to get the price down cause that should have been done by that mileage or it'll be on borrowed time.

    • @JrZCarZ
      @JrZCarZ  5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@cencal5723 honestly, a vehicle is only as good as the maintenance done to it. With 169k miles on the van now it's starting to show some suspension issues that can be fixed (typical maintenance items at this age/mile) but as long as you do the maintenance, timing belt, fluids, etc, then it should last a long while. I see these vans with 300k that are still cruising around on the original motor/trans.
