    Just give me something NEW with Star Wars. They have been mining the time span between the original trilogy to the prequels to the sequel trilogy to death. Expand the timelines, show us new things. And I MISS seeing the operatic scale of Star Wars on the big screen. I really enjoyed the 1st two seasons of mando and I do love Andor. But Star Wars is about imagination and being new. Drop this time period and show us Old Republic or crap anything outside the box. Not this fan service crap that gets recycled every new show. The only one I thought was definitionally bad was Boba Fett. Mandalorian S3 was underwhelming and Obi-Wan should just be edited into a 2 hour movie. If you include Clone Wars, Rebels, Bad Batch, Tales of the Jedi into your analysis, then Filoni has been the biggest boon to Star Wars in a long time. The declining in viewership with these shows has more to do with the distrust fans have with Disneys treatment of Star Wars. Fans get hyped for Obi Wan, it disappoints fans, this affects the viewership for Andor (a great show). Fans get hyped for Mando S3, it disappoints, affects Asoka viewership (most fans who watched liked it). The cycle continues. Unfortunately the Acolyte will probably be the final nail in the coffin of the very little remaining trust fans have in Lucasfilm. Eliminating any chance for any future projects to be successful. Fans are tired of paying money to see something they love be disrespected the way it has.

      But, original movies or franchises can still be introduced today, and satisfy a majority of viewers. Kill Bill, though not recent, is a good example. Or GOT, save for maybe the last season.... Peter Jackson's LOTR, or even Marvel up to endgame...

    Counter-point to Kris Carr: there's a saying in comic books, "every jumping on point is also a jumping off point." Your fandome doesn't grow if more people are leaving then are arriving. Catering completely to old fans won't grow your fan base, but being totally newbie friendly won't grow your fan base either. I left after the Last Jedi, I had been a SW fan for decades, bought the toys, bought the comics, bought merchandise. The Last Jedi was my breaking point. Maybe the new SW stuff is creating new fans, and maybe the downward trajectory is that more people are leaving them are arriving. Also, I didn't watch Mando season 1; that road leads to the sequel trilogy, which was enough for me to pass on it.

    Good writing makes or breaks a story's quality and truly good writers are a rarity. That's why whether it be the MCU or Star Wars or any other property, you rarely see something that is not just good, but consistently good.
    If you take a step back and examine the entire franchise, both current canon and legends both, Star Wars writing has arguably only received critical acclaim on 2 occasions: the original Thrawn Trilogy by Timothy Zahn and Andor by Tony Gilroy and his team.

      I think there are more - just maybe more obscure projects. I'd argue Knights of the Old Republic is up there in terms of writing quality. But overall, yes, Star Wars has never really been top of the crop when it comes to writing quality. As much as I love Rebels, it's not House of the Dragon or The Wire quality. Filoni just doesn't have it in him unfortunately. I will continue to enjoy what he creates - but I don't expect the entire world to go crazy about his creations.

    The problem with Mandalorian was they should have known they would eventually write themselves into a corner. You can only do so much with him and his buddy running around, running away and running into trouble trying to save that baby. Season 1 had strong episode 1 and 2 but they ran out of ideas mid way through with two shitty episodes while the rest was ok.

Leaving it open to create and move forward, but Great writer???? Arguably, the best movie wasn't him just writing it, Kasdan and Bracket wrote much of what Empire is.

    Mando season 3 was the lowest point in TV Star Wars. Mando is dead in the water as far as Im concerned. In my opinion its time to shift back to movies. TV series are diluting the coolness of Star Wars, especially the Jedi and lightsaber combat. • @Redpmac
      @Redpmac ปีที่แล้ว

      Andor was incredible, one of the best pieces of genre tv ever made, but it wasn’t what most Star Wars fans want. No Jedi, no lightsabers, no space battles, no mention of The Force. It was a ground based story of ordinary people fighting oppression. It was set in the Star Wars universe but it was not traditional Star Wars and that’s why it didn’t do the numbers it deserved for the amazing writing and acting and production values it had.
      The one thing Season 2 may have going for it is, what they like to call, memberberries. I think we could see Vader in this, maybe Palpatine, Tarkin, Krennic, Galen/Jyn Urso. Could we even see a young Leia? They could all justifiably be involved in the build up to Rogue One and that could bump up the numbers. You put Vader in the trailer for Andor S2 and you may see excitement rise for that show. The show has earned the right to include some of those characters too.

    Really I think it more has to do with the fact that people are waking up to the fact that Jon Favereau doesn't produce consistently good content. When Mando season 1 came out people ignored the major flaws the show had because they were excited they had something fun to wash the taste of the Sequel Trilogy from their mouths but now the tolerance for those issues has pretty much come to a end and they expect more from the shows.
    Even Dave Filoni isn't immune to this. I think he has a higher percentage success rate when it comes to consistency then Jon but even he's not perfect. I never felt he's figured out how to do a great job with pacing because even back in the early clone wars days his stuff has had pacing issues.
