    This was terrific. You told an original story, and used the tools you had available to illustrate. To those people who might complain about the realism of the special effects, I say that this is just like a stage play. Would the detractors go to a stage play and scream out things like, "it isn't real?" Of course not. We know it isn't real. I hope others, especially young kids, who have the ability to do so much more with today's technology. Great job! I believe you have produced inspiration.

      Michael Crosby Thank you for your kind words of feedback! To me, this episode is quintessential Star Trek with the cautionary elements of the story. Glad you liked it, and hope you'll enjoy our other offerings!

    Remember (Star Trek ) the race that sent their civilization back in time? At least they were smart enough to spread their people throughout history! How is it that a race with enough scientists to send their people into the past totally devoid of at least one archaeologist? Great episode! Loved the raptors.

    That was magnificent! A fine short story that had that large story feel but might have been ruined if stretched out to one. Great stories, great cast, love this series.

      Thanks! In this story, had we taken it to full length, at the end of the teaser, you'd have seen a dino. At the end of Act I, Cadet VayS would've been dragged into the trees. At the end of Act II, another cadet would have had to have gotten killed. Act III, Torval dies. Act IV, the final battle. But it would have to have been padded with needly handwringing aboard the Potemkin, lots of shots of the dinos in the bushes, and plenty of dialogue between doomed characters. Keeping our productions short and sweet keeps them to the point. And we're glad you appreciate that!!!!

    Another good one! Location was excellent and the improved use of camera angles definitely noticeable. I have to keep reminding myself that I'm watching episodes one right after the other, but a lot of time and work was between each of them.

    I mean, this is good, but landing parties should be a little more fit and combat ready. Shoulder padding may be in order.

      Cadets aren't exactly in the best of shape at this point in their careers, especially the Rinorians. :) And Mike Delaney (the Xartheb) is a heavy-gravity planet humanoid.

      Again, another one of my favorites, written by David Eversole, and beautifully brought to life by actors from Darton College in Albany Georgia and Georgia SW State University in Americus Georgia. Great idea, great story, great acting. And dinosaurs!

    I almost hate the redshirt trope, in large part in that it doesn't make much sense. Most of the 'shirted' crew were redshirts in TOS anyway, plus the whole security thing. Of course there are a lot of redshirt deaths. If it wasn't for the two episodes of "The Changeling" and "The Apple", I doubt the Redshirt Trope would even exist.
    It's almost possible to turn the idea on its head and question if MORE redshirts should have died?
    Having said that, it's grim business here with multiple redshirt cadets getting killed. Heavy losses for figuring out what happened to a civilization that has doomed itself. The Dolendans having wiped out their whole history and evolution. Interesting use of such a powerful technology! It has left the planet alive , but regressed, and the people as gone as if nuked.
    This is a Star Trek series that oft reminds me of "Outer Limits" for grim endings. An even darker musing is if First Contact upset the Dolendans so much as to trigger the suicidal attack? One side of a politically divided world makes contact with an advanced alien race; so the other side must kill the other side before they can press some unknown advantage?

    • @davideversole9767
      @davideversole9767 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My intent, exactly, when writing it. Two factions of Dolendans, jealous of each other, distrustful, etc.

      After Star Trek The Motion Picture, Security started wearing black and cadets in Wrath of Khan (including Saavik) wore red. So it only stood to reason that a cadet training mission would go so badly. And I think this one episode accounted for the most planet surface crew deaths in any of our productions.

      @@Potemkin1711 I rather like the uniform choices being made here. It suggests 'casual' ships askew the full uniform; and / or there is a great deal of flexibility of uniforms being used. Anyway, I like the shirts you use, black works well with security, and whites for command.
      The "Jurassic Park" business of raptors felling the cadets so silently, like the wind, was chilling. As was the abbreviated rescue attempts and fairly quick abandonment for the main group. The non-drama of death in this one was almost disturbing; but the choice almost certainly saved lives.

      @@Potemkin1711 Mystery, deaths, escaping the reset planet. It might have been interesting to see a depiction of the Dolendans as 'bird people' similar to the Shi'ar of Marvel Comics. YOUR raptors have feathers!

    Does Mr. Green suffer with pain n his hand?

    • @Potemkin1711
      @Potemkin1711  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No, but Captain Grigory suffered an injury in the battle where he lost his previous command. You'll see him bothered by it throughout the series. Jeffrey Green came up with it on his own.

    So let me get this straight. The population quite literally "bombed themselves back to the stone age"? Hard to believe they would all have ended up dino chow. Surely enough would have survived to recreate the Dolendan civilization in the present day that the Potemkin arrives. And if they didn't, then who would have been around for the first contact? When you play with time travel, it's all problematical.

    • @Potemkin1711
      @Potemkin1711  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      zoppie The chroniton bomb sent their planet back into prehistoric times. There was no civilization back then, and the cadet was about to state that the proto-Dolendans were dinosaurs. :) No one is left except for the dinos, and their civilization will have to evolve all over again.

      Forgive me for being late to the party here, but I just started seeing these features. You need not worry about the Dolendans, they will probably be back in 60 million years or so....
