Still no power here in east houston 77530 area code. Not one service truck in site. These people need to be dragged out of there position and thrown into prison.

Thank you Jim. Your model was the only one that made sense to me. I may not work in Weather but I've watched storms hit the Houston area for 50 years and I couldn't understand why all the models were ignoring the Jet Stream and the possible movement of that High that was slowly moving out of the way. I live north of Houston and as it turns out the storm passed directly over me here. I was prepared with a starting supply of gas for the genny and all my batteries for lanterns and fans were charged and ready to go. As I type this we are still without power because Centerpoint failed us and my area was put dead last in priority for restoration. We are going to make sure to have new management at Centerpoint soon.

You're the man Jim. You saved lives bc Texas was prepared and expecting. There's definitely something to be said about having "seen a lot of storms to go along with the computer models". understanding some basic thermodynamic principles helps too. Great job Texas and great coverage from Fox.

In your world of meteorology, do they give awards out for this? A fun thing to try and do...speculate by use of computer programming...

Its not the model, its the forecaster. The guy on Accuweather said it best. "I don't let any models make the forecast, I make the forecast." Thats what went wrong with so many saying "Mexico only storm". You guys hinted at it to by saying "Once you see why our model was saying this, you begin to understand why".

Further more I don't go to one source. I go to several. Another forecaster, a younger guy (maybe same station as he is in Orlando). Was actually saying it could hit Texas. So while people were getting drunk for the 4th weekend I was already prepared and rode out the storm with ease. I learned from Harvey never to give heavy weight to any "official" here either. They are very slow to anything. The real tragedy is that no lessons were learned from Harvey either. Same thing in terms of weekend event (getting drunk for the Mayweather fight in 2017) all while any real warnings were drowned out. Granted the city area grew but we don't teach either.
