- Underworld perform 'Dark & Long (Dark Train)' at the Other stage at Glastonbury 1998.
Underworld are a true one-off - at home headlining the world’s biggest festivals and events, playing underground techno clubs and warehouses, sound-tracking theatre productions or taking over art galleries, disused shoe shops and Japanese department stores.

Having cemented their place in the ’90s underground techno scene, the group’s definitive breakthrough came in 1996 when their timeless anthem ‘Born Slippy (Nuxx)’ became the soundtrack of a generation after it was featured in the film Trainspotting. The success of that single catapulted the band from the underground into the heart of the mainstream.
The following two decades saw them build on that success while never compromising; selling millions of albums, performing countless sold-out shows, providing scores to productions by Academy Award winning directors Anthony Minghella and Danny Boyle, exhibiting in galleries, and sound-tracking the Opening Ceremony to the London 2012 Olympic Games.
The critical and commercial success of the band’s Grammy nominated 2016 album ‘Barbara Barbara, we face a shining future’ saw them headline stages at Coachella, Glastonbury and Summer Sonic.
On 1st November 2018, Underworld launched their DRIFT series, which sees the release of new material every week for a year: www.underworldl...

I was there, pissed down all weekend, muddy as fuck and got our tent nicked on the first night.
Still a great fucking weekend.
The greatest dance track ever.
Absolutely. ❤
Dunno what people expect clicking on a live performance of this track & then 'dissing' Karl Hyde' etc because he wasn't up to your standards! His voice 'makes the original what it is', but he can hardly replicate looped samples of his voice over and over and over because he's not a robot FFS..... CLASSIC TUNE/Fun performance.
I love his dance moves, so in tune with the music.
Crazy elegance
love underworld.
I hope I can see them live some day before I die but they dont' come to the US a lot
There’s nothing like this!! It’s a magic performance, I see it over and over again. I love Underworld!
Crowd totally engaged back then, cell phones have ruined the ambiance of live gigs...
The trio line up with Darren Emerson was the best Underworld era
Agreed!
The beat sounds class, absolute classic Northern Exposure
absolutely - I actually discovered it on the Nothern Exposure double CD 👌
One of the best tracks ever made...
Absolute legends!
I loved song ❤❤
this is just beautiful
This was the first time I saw Underworld live, after enjoying them since 93. This was the greatest way to end that Glasto. Seen them 6 times since, though not in my home town (and their uni town), Cardiff, as they don't seem to like playing there.
Was a good year !!
I'd love a full pro-recorded show from this era, even just audio in high quality. Everything Everything is wonderful, but also highly edited. I wish we got an Everything Everything super deluxe box set with the full separate shows they used to edit into the standard Everything Everything release.
There are lots of them. Most of their shows are recorded, and I have quite a few, including one from the Palladium in Germany the year after this video was recorded.
oo😂❤99oo1

Japan 2005 is a good live show recording:

I always thought it said "like a child"... My fav song by them though
Diego and i thought it was “ i’ll try”
I always thought he was saying.. but im trying..
dudes got style
0:20~0:26 VERY VERY CUTE DANCE >_
How could Darren Emmerson walk away from that?
My understanding is that the three of them were barely on speaking terms even as they made Beaucoup Fish and toured to shoot the footage for Everything Everything.
Darren doing OK being a superstar dj owning his own label. Honestly they were at there best when he was in the group. They all brought something different
Trainspotting
Dale Winton, heroin rumbles and train wallpaper....
I love trainspotting and it did get me into underworld but underworld is far more than trainspottinf. There whole discography and live shows are honestly some of the best music and compositions ever put to stage over the last 40 years.
Shame you left out the part with the synth from Cups/Pens... ;)
The nuts
Fuck man, I want to be as cool as him one day
However cool you are now, and you probably are cool, you won’t ever be Karl on this version ;)
The music lives inside Karl
Pfff cuantos recuerdos yonkis 🤣🤣🤣
Pasando mono…
Not many tunes get me maxxing out the speakers
Last dance group to leave us before this shite they call dance in todays music
Gram of mandy would be sweet
When did they leave us?
I would love to have been their only problem I would have been 5 or 6...
Same
I was,There !
Only 5O1 likes?
Fuckin class tune but was it for buzzin on yokes and also to help coming off drugs or wa ?
Viví engañado toda mi vida pensando que las vocales eran de "John Digweed" :(
If you can see my skin right now!!!
Renton
Hyde off his chops!
Glad tunes evolved later that massive intro with him saying that was to long got annoying
🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍

Manchester last night. Still got it 🙌
Mr . Hyde > Still here
Paying to watch Karl Hyde dance like an idiot and spout vacuous gibberish to instrumental and vocal playback while the the other two pretend to make changes to the sound - no thanks. A fan of their 90s studio material but not this live crap.
Then don't pay to go see them live. Problem solved.
There's no pretending. I've listened to dozens of live UW bootlegs, and it's never the same song twice. Yes, of course they are using loops and computers, but think of it as 'live remixing' and you're getting close to what the knob twiddlers are doing behind the desk.
you have obviously never played electronic music live and know nothing about manipulation of live oscillation and modulations. These arent just loops learn about live electronica theres no excuse its been around comments like yours sure pure ignorance
Ahem, please read the article below and note the use of both loops and sequencers in their live performances:

Sorry Matt comment was a response for pinkstrumpet and clichéd orthodox musician views assimilating that too a DJ with a kaos pad. Had it for the last 23 years since I first started performing live electronic music. Trying to explain the intricacies of live electronic domain analogue or digital beyond loops and sequencing to these people is futile and I'll understood.
