thank you for these, I love learning about Jesus and becoming close to Him every day while spreading His wisdom because everyone has the right to connect with the truth
Good reminder today for me, not to assume that certain people don’t want to hear the gospel, but just to share it at the right times regardless. Remembering today that I need to put aside my preconceptions and share what I believe to be the truth. Thanks Jared!
Thank you for this video series. Its helping me as I try to come back to my faith. I would like to get a bible of my own. Could you tell me, which version of the bible are you reading from here? Thanks again!
At 8:03 Phillip comes along and teaches him, and he is baptized. But it’s very important to say that Phillip made him believe in Jesus with all his heart and confess it, then only could he be baptized, otherwise Phillip would say no. There’s too much error out there that people believe if they’re baptized they’re saved. It’s called the believers baptism. Not the unbelievers. Just pointing that out...Iron sharpens iron.
Correct. Verse 37 was skipped. 37 And Phillip said, If thou believes with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Good catch Jon.
Thanks for this video I was sick today and I slept threw my Chruch live stream we are going through acts :) ... (How did u guys add the text in the background im running kids ministry and I'd like them to be able to read along like this )
So.... I need BT’s input on this and it wasn’t touched upon in today’s episode. 39 When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord suddenly took Philip away, and the eunuch did not see him again, but went on his way rejoicing. 40 Philip, however, appeared at Azotus and traveled about, preaching the gospel in all the towns until he reached Caesarea.” When they came up from out of the water Phillip was taken away... He appeared at azotus and traveled about preaching the gospel.... Ok strange wording for all of this. To me it sounds like God literally pulled him out of thin air and placed him at azotus. Prove me wrong....
Hey Kerris. Yeah, the wording isn't 100% clear as to the nature of the Phillips being taken away. We are supposed to see that the Spirit is acting, whether he is miraculously relocating him, or compelling him to leave promptly. Here is what Dr. Bock says in the Baker Exegetical Commentary, for your reference: Acts 8:39 (BECNT Ac): With the baptism complete, so is Philip’s mission. The Spirit takes Philip away. The verb here for being caught up, ἁρπάζω (harpazō), appears twice in Acts (in 23:10 Paul is taken away from a scene to protect him) and twelve other times in the NT (Matt. 11:12; 12:29; 13:19; John 6:15; 10:11-13, 27-29 [2x]; 2 Cor. 12:2-4 [2x; Paul caught up into the third heaven]; 1 Thess. 4:15-17 [saints being caught up in the air]; Jude 22-23; Rev. 12:5). His instant removal makes clearer still that God is at work. It recalls Jesus’s removal in Luke 24:31. Like Elisha, Philip is directed in ministry (1 Kings 18:12, 46; 2 Kings 2:16 [a similar taking up]; similarly, Ezek. 11:24). There is no opportunity for the eunuch to develop a personal attachment to Philip.
Hoping to present an idea- Simon, the magician, didn’t seem to be truly faithful or to truly accept the word of God. His magic was all about bringing himself glory. When he saw the miracles being done, he cared more about the miracles themselves than the actual purpose of the miracles, which was to bring people’s attention to the Word so they would heed it. He seemed to have about as much faith as even Satan himself. Kinda like, yeah God is real, but I’m good without him. This was pointed out in the book Be Dynamic by Warren Wiersbe.
I have a question . It says in verse 14 that in samaria they recieved the word of God and in verse 15 that Peter and John prayed for them to recieve the Holy Ghost bw ause it hadnt fallen on them yet. Is that because in verse 16 it was just water baptism then. Can you explain please. Thanks So in
The baptism received by the eunuch was water baptism. However.....What baptism was it that Peter and John felt seriously compelled to get down there and pray so that the "already saved" could receive the baptism....What baptism?? Just trying to figure out the mind set of the teacher here. Since there are 3 baptisms....that being baptism 1.)"into Christ" or Christ Death 2.) Water and 3.) Fire. So, which baptism were Peter and John hurrying off to instill in these new converts......"so that they could be "witnesses" into all Judea and Samaria and to thw uttermost parts of the world. Also....what does the word witness mean in the greek?......martyer.......Thats all of us friends. We're called to me martyers. Preach that in your local modern day church and watch the tithe check become null and void.....Yet, these men did this and as advertised, they ALL were put to death. However, John survived his torment only because by divine purpose he was to right the book of Revelations on the isle of Patmos.....And,in this same book, (Revelations) he writes the answer to ALL fear Rev-12:10-12.......and they overcame,by the BLOOD OF THE LAMB. It's the cross. The cross. The cross. And the baptism by fire is put into place to empower you in service. But, all victory is through the cross. Hallelujah.

Amen the gospel is for us all
I love the emphasis on magicians being followers of Jesus at the time. That made me imagine a very wholesome time. I couldn't help but laugh.
Good morning Pastors. God Bless you all. Amém.

Hello! We read the CSB, NET and NRSV most often on here. For a daily reader we'd get either a NLT or a CSB with study notes.
Good video, thanks

We use either proclaim or powerpoint, and capture the screen with camtasia on realtime as we films the speaker on a green screen.

I saw someone say that it is because they weren’t baptized in the Father, son, and Holy Spirit yet
