Hi, I am not the guy from this TH-cam channel obviously, but doing pottery in Australia for over 5 years. From the context, the word "chamfer" is the decoration technique he applied on the side of the sake cup to make the side faceted. So I would say that means equivalent to "fluting". In Japanese, it is called "shinogi".
