    I have never heard of your channel before today but you have earned a subscriber. As someone who has been looking forward to the kin since they were announced in April it has been seriously discouraging to have everyone talk nonstop about how broken they are. I play Raven Guard as my other army, obviously I don't care about what can win games I just want to enjoy my models and play some friendly games here and there.

    • @vestige2540

      Same here, the factions I have played are just for fun and I have no chance of winning, I literally challenged 9th edition Tau with 8th Khorne Daemons so guess the result of that game. TBH the leagues of Votann are not that broken compared to what everyone says. Just enjoy the hobby, painting to playing, I believe some miss this aspect.

    Just found your channel and instant subscribe. I appreciated your pre-review rant and add that a lot of YT channels were erroneously stacking different league abilities to support their "needs a nerf" opinions. Now that the book is official, context is painting a slightly different picture. However, opinions are already distorted. I think there are going to be a lot of new Votann players that are sad to see they aren't as powerful as the leaks made them seem and yet vocal trolls will still get their way with nerfs. A faction with 1 troop choice is very easy to plan against by good players and battle reports over the last two days have shown Votann aren't invincible. Cheers for the review and look forward to seeing more of your content.

  • @Talorc1

    I am interested in the undersuit colour for the Ymyr Conglomerate - in the GW videos they painted the "blue" as Stegadon Scale Green, washed with thinned Basicanum Grey then highighted with Dark Reaper - > Thunderhawk Blue. This created quite a dark Blue, with lots of black. Your version seems a lot more blue, which I think I like more. Effectively you get a Red plus dark blue scheme, with Black helmet / boots / equipment.
    For attempting the Ymyr in contrast paints, I am wondering if Red armour in Baal Red, undersuit in Leviadon Blue then the black equipment in Black Legion might work well? (Over White Scar or Greyseer)

    About the leak: I agree that leaking rules like that definitely doesn't help with the relationship between GW and content creators. Therefore I would love to see GW release the rules before we have to make a decision on whether to pre-order the box or not, since a lot of those boxes was gone in minutes in the past. Personally, I only care about the competitive side of things: the models are cool, but I wouldn't spend nearly as much if there's no game or a competitive element to it. The same budget would easily go to feed my other plastic model addictions, like gunpla, tanks or train models lol. GW rule release, imo, is actually making things worse than just showing the whole book. Only releasing a rule or 2 will easily fuel more out rage towards a seemly broken (eg 3+ demon save) without the whole picture. I'd rather be able to judge the book as a whole, than to be put off by a standalone rule and have a very biased opinion going in. If GW wrote a broken book, the internet salt is invadable anyways: does it matter if it comes sooner or later?

Its a real pet annoyance of mine is those making ridiculous stupid names for miniatures. Personally i think its the cheesedick tourney super competitive players that ruin this game. They have way too much say and ruin those like myself that prefer the narrative. Id rather gouge my eyeballs out than entertain or go to competitive match play. I agree to disagree on people leaking information. I'm sick of these secretive releases. This fomo marketing doesn't make anyone feel better about their purchases or the hobby. Judging by how Games Workshop is now starting to show us seasonal roadmaps. Thank you for the box release review, I feel like I'm not missing out on anything. • @Thorize91
      @Thorize91 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not sure I follow your logic. The preview embargo is one week before release so you can get a review and make a informed purchasing decision.
      Leaking the information before that means they will become more careful about the information they give out and lead to less information overall. I like to plan before I buy things and you seem to do as well, can’t see the benefits of getting a second hand glimpse of the rules a few days to a week earlier then intended. Often with mistakes and not correct wording.

      If there's anything they should release early it's the prices. It would be great to have an extra week or two to financially prepare for some of these releases. Not all of us can conjure up NZ$400 for this army box on a week's notice.

  • @Bodkin_Ye_Pointy
    @Bodkin_Ye_Pointy 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I am five minutes into your video and it's the first time I have ever seen your stuff and it is a little irritating. Point one, I get it, people who leak the GW product before its due time are spoilers and if you feel like it report the leak to GW. I don't know that the impact is what you suggest it is but that can be a debate for another time. However, your suggestion that the leak leads to bullying is quite the stretch.
    For starters, if any bullying about buying and using the army, especially in a GW store, is reality, then GW staff are not doing their job. I could go into any store around my area, (There are five) and anyone pulling that crap would be shut down by the staff and other gamers. I have been a member of a gamers club and the same thing was true. So to say that a bullying culture would happen over such a release is definitely crap. If you are bullied because you walked in with the latest box set then that is already a culture in that group. And if that is the culture in a GW store then that should be reported and watch how quickly it gets shut down. In any event that attitude is not the common thing in my area and you don't need to be in such place for any reason. Find somewhere where gaming is the focus.
    Finally, your assertion that the Leagues of Votann is such an unusual release is somewhat flawed. 2018, I think, saw the release of Sisters of Battle box set, complete with unique cover art on the codex etc. Though Sisters didn't need counters etc... "They were doin it for themselves", (Sorry, couldn't resist it)

    • @Warhipster
      @Warhipster  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I get your point my friend, but given as the online discourse about the Leagues of Votann has been mostly rage about the rules and very very little about how cool they are. I don't think I'm wrong. It's not direct bullying sure. But if you walked into any conversation or looked at the majority of the content around them and you were just excited to have your new models and everyone is mocking the models, the rules, the company, and being outraged. You might start to feel self conscious.
      I think I made the point in the video that the exact thing happened to me with my Dark Angels. No one was making fun of me they were making fun of my army. But it was my army that I spent a lot of time on it and I didn't like being the butt of the joke no matter whether it was malicious or targeted at me. The same thing is happening with The Leagues.
      Put it this way, if you've heard or read 'The Leagues of Brokann' anywhere. Imagine what it would be like to hear that multiple times. Or 5 times from 5 opponents at a 5 game tournament and if you're a sensitve soul like me (snowflake some might say) It gets to you. Like I said It's not direct, but it can be a consequence and I've seen it happen already to a couple of folks who bought the box watched the TH-cam Community get all upset and have returned their box or have chucked it on eBay. Not all of them. But some.
      Also my point about these guys is that they are brand new. The Sisters box whilst simliar, was a plastic reimagining of an army you could still buy from GW in classic metal at the time that box went on sale. Some say these are the Squats but they've not been around or on sale as a 40k army for over 20 years. Not so much as a hint of them had been around for ages!

    • @Bodkin_Ye_Pointy
      @Bodkin_Ye_Pointy 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Warhipster Sorry to hear of your experiences. I am a bit of a smart arse and my first response to such commentary would likely to have been, "So shall we report my crushing victory now?" I have been a little isolated of late so I have not heard the negatives about the set. In fact the information in Australia has been so slow and disjointed that the kit was released two weeks before I knew it, and one of the GW stores as well.
      But a tip for anyone suffering from trolling. Maybe you can pass this on. You can respond without violence or insults. Report the commentary to the tournament ref' and suggest that the match is not appropriate because of the trolling. Suggest to the opponent he should keep his tears until after your army has crushed him or offer him the opportunity to withdraw through the match ref'. Still a little confrontational but non violent and the opponent is not getting psychological advantage over you.
      For my part, and I game Eldar, I have never dealt with that kind of attitude, particularly in a GW store or one of their tournaments. I am an older dude and I have had the delight of gaming with people of all ages and sat around the tables listening to a 12 yo feel confident enough to espouse his opinions to a group of like minded gamers. That is almost as satisfying as the game itself.
      So build your models formulate your plans and if you are ever in my neck of the woods, give me a call and I will give you a game for fun. In the mean time dismiss the commentaries of jealous gamers who feel they are threatened by something new.

    Ridiculous broken rules are not the problem of leaks... buy the box if you like it ignore the rules cos they're going to get NERFed hard in the next 3-6 months... I mean joytoy, games workshop partner's just leaked the 10th edition blood Angels would you like to email Games Workshop about it to let them know....
    Some players suck that's true that is just the nature of people I see people make the same Crap jokes as everybody else do eg dark angels are heretics how originally clever of them.
    There are so many problems with Games Workshop leaks are the least of it.
    Give the new army ridiculous Op rules just so it will sell, do I blame players for playing the leagues of squats... hell no... I blame gw for broken rules to make a fast buck, as profit is the thing that matters to a plc by law...
    They know they got to do it they can see the writing on the wall I look around and all of a sudden GW have competitors that are cheaper... take my nerdy student friends they have 3D printers and onepagerules and the countless patreon pages isn't exactly expensive meanwhile everytime I walk into a GW store the prices gone up.
    Maybe it's 5 years maybe it's 10 maybe it's like the doomsayers state its months... before shit hits the fan
    But you are so right hipster that it's about da leaks...

      I get the hype part. But I’m not the only one who fells in the dark with how they release things. Very secretive and a little frustrating. But as a company you can’t even set a date, like the 15th of a month for a pre-order, or something. Little ridiculous considering it’s a pre-order, not the actual product yet. Many companies use pre-orders to gauge how many to actually make. But yet have all these boxes ready to hand out but a date as to when you can order is to far out there to produce lol. You only find out maybe a week out lol.

      @@schmuckersinc I don't know about their social channels, but there was a Warhammer Community post on Sunday 11 titled "Sunday Preview - The Leagues of Votann Are on Their Way" and opened with "It’s nearly time - the Leagues of Votann army set will be available for pre-order on Saturday!"
      Social media's all fine and good, but it's easy to miss things thanks to the algorithm. WarComm is the better place to go for what's actually coming up.
      As for not announcing the date further in advance, I suspect they've been burned more than a few times by unexpected shipping delays. Giving a week's notice means there's more surety product will be available in time. Sure, there are still occasional delays, but they're usually localised.
      And yes, this does differ from other pre-orders where you're waiting weeks, if not months, for your purchase. It's because they're giving people a little more time to get the money together to make the purchase. They seem to have been getting better about having enough stock available, too, so it's really more a convenience thing than a 'traditional' gauging of interest.
