I'm from Haiti and currently living in Miami, Florida and this is my second time in Ghana in the last two years and the little time I've spent here, I've felt safer in Ghana than I have my whole life in the US. For example, while in Ghana, EVERY instance I've interacted with police officers, not once did I feel like my life was in danger nor did I feel that there's a possibility that I was going to end up in a cell as a result of that encounter.
When it comes to raising a family, providing a safe nurturing environment is my priority. As a melanated being, if I can provide that nurturing environment surrounded by mostly melaninated beings then I have found Heaven on Earth.
I am Ghanaian and I keep saying that “The day African Americans Will realize Africa is their Home and really come back with all the knowledge they have, No Country in Africa will ever export any or our Natural resources and Africa will be the Greatest Continent on Earth “
There's no such thing as a Nursing Home or Assisted Living. That's One thing I love about Africa they take care of their elders and they bring up the new generation in the right way no matter the circumstances. ❤💚💛🖤

It is ignorant and backwards to think that getting assistance for your parents is a lesser option. If you're unavailable 24hrs a day it would stupid to not get assistance. Pride is why many people don't take advantage of it and also this self righteous attitude that shames people who can't stay home to help their loved ones because they have to much going on. One trip I took a bus to Auka in Anambra state. The bus ride was everything! I enjoy myself every single time I go. I traveled twice last year. I haven't made it over yet this year. But I will be back.
I took a trip to central Africa republic and my life as an American African changed forever. I felt loved and valued. The appreciation and admiration is truly inspiring.

I had received 3 invitations to go visit Nigeria before I finally went. Amazing how the universe will keep bringing things to you that need to manifest. Everyone thought I was crazy flying to Nigeria by myself. I was filled with anxiety about so many things that could go wrong. That trip totally altered my perception on so many things. There is so many images and ideologies we are fed we are not even aware of as African Americans because we have not seen nor gone to where we decedent from. Blown away by the rich culture, phenomenal genetics and a region so diverse with resources. I highly encourage anyone to go who has the resources.
Such a beautiful and powerful conversation. Our ignorance of one another is due to lack of communication hence why the media is able to paint African Americans in a certain light to Africans and vice versa (then we all fall for the okey doke and are prejudice towards each other without even talking😔). If we all just found a time and place to talk to one another, a lot could change for the generations coming after us.

Growing up, I often heard negative things about my country due to a small group of Nigerians involved in internet fraud, but that's not representative of the whole population. Nigeria is a beautiful country; its main challenges are corrupt politicians influenced by foreign interests and high levels of poverty.
I was born and raised in Amsterdam but I traveled trough allot of countries in Africa and lived a year in Angola. Both of my parents are from Angola & Congo. One of the best choices I ever made. I had a few spiritual awakenings by seeing life from an other perspective. If you have a chance to go to any country in Africa, you should do it. It will humble you 💯

I love seeing Americans going to the motherland. I'm Somali, all I heard growing up was 'Somalia is a war torn country' then you go there and people leave their jewelry/wads of CASH on the street and go pray every afternoon and at 5pm. That's twice a day, they leave everything they're selling at the market and go pray, no one steals anything. Yes, Somalia has CIA/MI5 and every white spy agency doing covert ops there but the Somali people, it is all about love.

My shock as African was the first time I landed in the Carribeans. Every African child needs to do that trip. My brain was literally bursting all along. Words and all are nice, but experience is transformative.

I'm so emotional watching this right now. My husband and I have been discussing what it will take for us to move our family from the states to Africa. I've had this constant tug at my soul to return home and it won't go away until I get back. I was birn in the states as most of my family tree but I know this isn't home and there's a tug. I’m a Nigerian rapper myself, and I got into Symba’s music after a friend showed me the “Top G” music video he & Damicool shot in Lafiaji here in Lagos🔥🔥 he told me they only had about 6 hours to plan and make it happen! That’s dope. Yes, the problems with the unsafe water are unfortunately a thing in some parts of Lagos Island, I’m guessing he was staying in some part of Lekki. But the mainland? Slavery and Colonization has done a number on all Black people. I don't even know a group of people that went through this kind of trauma. Stripped of our identity to the core. One trip I took a bus to Auka in Anambra state. The bus ride was everything! I enjoy myself every single time I go. I traveled twice last year. I haven't made it over yet this year. But I will be back.

Y’all can also visit other countries in the East like Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania that’s where the real Safari is and just learn more about the culture.

I had received 3 invitations to go visit Nigeria before I finally went. Amazing how the universe will keep bringing things to you that need to manifest. Everyone thought I was crazy flying to Nigeria by myself. I was filled with anxiety about so many things that could go wrong. That trip totally altered my perception on so many things. There is so many images and ideologies we are fed we are not even aware of as African Americans because we have not seen nor gone to where we decedent from. Blown away by the rich culture, phenomenal genetics and a region so diverse with resources. I highly encourage anyone to go who has the resources.

Our ignorance of one another is due to lack of communication hence why the media is able to paint African Americans in a certain light to Africans and vice versa (then we all fall for the okey doke and are prejudice towards each other without even talking😔). If we all just found a time and place to talk to one another, a lot could change for the generations coming after us.

Growing up, I often heard negative things about my country due to a small group of Nigerians involved in internet fraud, but that's not representative of the whole population. Nigeria is a beautiful country; its main challenges are corrupt politicians influenced by foreign interests and high levels of poverty.
I was born and raised in Amsterdam but I traveled trough allot of countries in Africa and lived a year in Angola. Both of my parents are from Angola & Congo. One of the best choices I ever made. I had a few spiritual awakenings by seeing life from an other perspective. If you have a chance to go to any country in Africa, you should do it. It will humble you 💯

I'm Somali, all I heard growing up was 'Somalia is a war torn country' then you go there and people leave their jewelry/wads of CASH on the street and go pray every afternoon and at 5pm. That's twice a day, they leave everything they're selling at the market and go pray, no one steals anything.

I always tell my brothers here to make a step and visit Africa, you learn alot, life lessons and appreciate life.

My shock as African was the first time I landed in the Carribeans. Every African child needs to do that trip. My brain was literally bursting all along. Words and all are nice, but experience is transformative.

I'm so emotional watching this right now. My husband and I have been discussing what it will take for us to move our family from the states to Africa. I've had this constant tug at my soul to return home and it won't go away until I get back. I was birn in the states as most of my family tree but I know this isn't home and there's a tug. I loved the analogy of the child separated from it's biological parent because that's how I feel. I believe James Baldwin said it best.
