Youre cards are really nice. Thank you for using the color wheel. You gave us a good variety to help us compare tints, shades etc. with the same colors. What a good teaching aide. Thank you🎨🖌🖍💙💛🧡
These are absolutely beautiful! I love the color blocked lighthouse card so much, but the seagull on the HOORAY is perfect. The umbrella card is so fun too! And I love the koi fish, and I love that you are going to make it again with that pop of red! You are so much fun!
Four fab cards Therese, all really striking and excellent design. After your last video I went and got myself a colour wheel so it was great to see you using it today and explain how useful it can be. Thank you for sharing another wonderful video❤😘
One of the best videos I’ve ever seen! Love the demonstration in using the color wheel and PROVING its usefulness in making gorgeous cards! So many techniques here that I will be referring back to this wonderful video time and again as I work through all the card ideas you have inspired! I would love to learn even more on using the color wheel through your creative uses.
Amazing cards. You never disappoint. Love the colour blocking but never think to do it. Trying to use my stash without buying more stuff, but it's ever so tempting to shop after seeing your videos❤
hahaha Marie, you totally made me laugh out loud. I reckon you may have something you can use and recreate these looks/ideas, what a great challenge lol. Thanks for you lovely comment and visit today!
Hi Terease, I love these cards. I always have problems with men's cards too, and of course, I have two sons and a hubby to do cards for. The first background is something I must try. Many thanks, regards Liz
Isn't this a good bit of fun to wake up to!! Therese, you really DO have a handle on choosing color! As always, I LOve your color-blocking... now why not go add a bit of red-orange coral for your Koi? OR recreate it - I'm always up for second helpings! x
Some really great ideas! I love the idea of making a chart with the marker colors. I think that would make it much easier to find the colors that complement each other. Thanks for the ideas!
I keep all my charts/swatches of inks and markers in a binder folder together. I use some of the downloaded swatch charts from the companies but my free swatch download that can be used for any ink/marker brands that you own. It's in US Letter size and Metric (and there is also a Catherine Pooler section in rainbow order). You only need to print what you need and it can be adapted for anything). You can find it here - lostinpaper.com/freebies-my-classes/
You blew me away with this video! Unbelievable! 4 cards that are perfect in one hour and I make 3 cards in one week and think I did something! Well, a little less than a week, but still!
It would've been longer than 1 hour... I should look at the video time,! But it's really the photos, editing, writing up posts and updloading that really take the time. It's nothing for me to spend a day editing one video, espeically if there are multiple cards in it. So I probably make as many cards as you per week really lol.
Another great tip on the A2 window for color block! The most basic of things I have missed totally or forgotten. And I watch a ton of videos and have alot of new products ( that sit in my storage) I LOVE THIS CARD! Fantastic card for a guy! I need to get some men dies. My goodness I must have 10xs as many floral dies alone! I have my dad and my son to make cards for. I never think to even look for them unless it's a specific motorcycle set, or a recliner with an older guy set type thing. Really great card!
@ No! it’s true! that’s such a brilliant idea! I have tons of stand alone dies I should be able to find something to go on a color block background! I’m going to make one of those that’s brilliant! I’m so behind on posting on IG. I’m still waiting on Christmas cards, then the 3 cards last week and 1 to add inside sentiment to, and I have all the photos of my room section by section to post. But I redid my desk and added a glue/adhesive section and redid a binder with stickers and used my label maker. So I need to rephoto that. I think it’s fun to see how ppl store things. But I only have a couple ppl that ever really watch. But I think soon I’ll post the Christmas cards and the others then start section per post on my room.
All these cards are fantastic! I am particularly fond of the HOORAY stenciled one with the seagull on there! Fantastic! I loved the koi fish set and looked at it at Altenew, but they intimidated me with coloring. But the flow to them is so beautiful.
These fish also have a stencil from memory, but I'd have to check to be sure. It's an older set so it's hard to remember lol. I love their Koi fish layering dies too, I try not to use them too much, people get bored of them 😂.
@ I just love them and the lotus flower too. They have one stamp set for a lotus but I don’t think I liked it but I’m not sure. I didn’t know the koi have dies and a stencil! Hmmmm…. Have to rethink that! I desperately need some manly card items. I just bought specific ones for them and you use it once and it’s done. I loved that hooray with the seagull! so happy and cute! My sons 31 and dads 87 . Btw, did your poor Christmas card ever make it there?
So different yet equally lovely cards. I will definitely try the color wheel and selection process. Whether it’s paper, inks or markers the process works so well with all the mediums. Just subscribed and looking forward to watching your past and future videos.
Thank you so very much Deana! A HUGE Welcome, I hope you have a chance to check out some of my other videos (there are over 1000, so I suggest maybe grabbing a cuppa first lol). If you have any questions, suggestions or ideas I'd love to hear, just drop me a line or add a comment in one of the videos!
That is a layered die cut set from Spellbinders, it's called Guiding Light and I have links for it. These are affiliate so I would get a small commission if you did buy it, at no extra cost to you. I always use the swatching I have done for inks and markers, pencils etc. but never had any luck with cardstocks... and I did take a deep breath before I started, knowing that it would be a big job, and I didn't want to do all that work if I wasn't going to use it, but when I saw the wheel storage idea, I could see the value in it. But, YES, you can certainly use the same wheel idea without the swatches, especially if you know what colour cardstocks you have! Thanks for your lovely visit here today Jelly!
Hey that color card swatch system looks pretty darn cool! I am very impressed. (not enough to do all the work but impressed!) I really like that. Like I said, mine are on a keyring and I think fairly close to updated with the old cardstock I re-added, but my problem is wanting to color swatch my inks! CP inks dry down so differently than they apply I never really know what I'm getting and her color wheel never prints out the accurate color even on my new printer. So they hang on the wall for decoration. I have way too many things on my plate now. I spent a week in my card room and made 3 cool cards but now no time to photo to get on IG. And I have all my stamp room photos I wanted to put on there by section too! I had no problem finding time to go broke ordering things! LOL! I think that is my replacement for actually making cards except a disability income doesn't cut it. Way to go on the swatching!!!!!
Thank you so very much, I am finding this swatch system a LOT of fun to use! I agree with you on stamping out the inks, it's worth it because they look quite different once they are dry. Did you get my free swatch download? It has blank sheets to stamp the CP inks in Rainbow order (not families etc.) I find them much easier sorted that way. But now Altenew has released their new inks I am not reaching for the CP inks as much, they stamp so differently (I am not as good with the soft touch lol). Glad to hear you made some cards, let me know when you put them up (if you remember) I don't always get notifications on IG and I don't want to miss them. Hope you have a great weekend and find some 'time' for YOU!
@ you know, I probably couldn’t afford Altenew inks, i had a hard time with CP and since I don’t use them a lot I haven’t bought the recent colors. Then it gets expensive to catch up. I just listened to everyone else and at the time everyone had CP and was raving! I actually don’t see that they’re that great! They might blend well and good color choice, but I hate the lids on them. They’re too shallow and always a mess and on my fingers taking lids on and off. I’m very picky about keeping things clean and idk how they get so much ink in the lid and around the pad! Drives me nuts! I’ll lyk when I post those cards. I don’t want to ruin the surprise for the couple of you that didn’t get your Christmas cards, but I need to get those up and soon my Valentines card too. You are getting one of those too. I do stamp mine non-machinable and do not bend, so I hope these other countries know what that means and don’t throw them to the side. They’ll always be in white cardboard mailers. You have a good weekend too! I’m finishing office work Sat, then Sunday back to my card room! big hugs!
Got warping on your card base, but already decorated the front? Add a duplicate card base size, and add it to the INSIDE of you card, stick it with DS tape and it will lay flat (guess how I diescovered this !!! lol
News flash-they'll still be men even if you include a more "feminine" color in your combo. Women fret entirely too much about making masculine cards. While I wouldn't send something full of pink and pastels and lace to most of the men I know, I have sent a card with a lacy die cut or a pink or purple accent color, and it's not a problem. One former friend preferred tasteful neutrals (think old-school menswear colors). I can accept that challenge. Plenty of men like flowers, but defaulting to sports stuff and brown and green and blue is an extreme solution to something that's gotten made out to be much more difficult than it is. If nothing else, a landscape works. Geometrics work. Stereotypes don't, really. As color blindness is more common in men, knowing if the recipient is color blind (and in what way) is helpful in picking colors. Plenty of easily accessible info on color blindness is online. (Hard as it is to believe, I helped a friend in his 60s learn that he was, in fact, color blind.)
Thanks for your insightful comment. I agree, it's not always necessary to stick to a rigid "masculine" color palette! I have also stepped out of the classic 'men's cards' zone, I sent a FULL lacy card to my brother and my boss, well he got glitter for his 50th. They were both very fun to make, especially knowing the blokes who were going to receive them. Personally I love geometrics and many men are gardeners and appreciate flowers and definitely landscapes. And finding out you are colour blind at 60, that does sound unbelievable, you are amazing!
Gorgeous cards. Mens cards are always hard to make so your ideas are perfect.😊
I'm so in love with this swatching system!
Gorgeous cards and so many options.
Fabulous masculine cards.
Wonderful ideas for making masculine cards! They can be a real struggle at times!! Love you inspiration! ❤️
Thanks so much, I am glad you liked the ideas!
Youre cards are really nice. Thank you for using the color wheel. You gave us a good variety to help us compare tints, shades etc. with the same colors. What a good teaching aide. Thank you🎨🖌🖍💙💛🧡

Hi Terease, I love these cards. I always have problems with men's cards too, and of course, I have two sons and a hubby to do cards for. The first background is something I must try. Many thanks, regards Liz
How wonderful Liz, I know your men will love these card ideas... and if they don't, you can send them my way lol.

You are very welcome!
Love these! ❤
Thank you so very much!
Lovely cards! So clever!
I'm glad you like them Lyn!
Love your trick for color blocking. If I cut the pieces and add later there is always a crooked part. Can't wait to see you again on Craft Roulette.
Thanks, it's such a fun technique, isn't it? Not long now til I am up again, hope the wheel is kind lol.
These cards are amazing. I really liked the hooray card. Great ideas!!
I agree, the hooray card is a lot of fun, I do miss Ellen Hutson's store!
Isn't this a good bit of fun to wake up to!! Therese, you really DO have a handle on choosing color! As always, I LOve your color-blocking... now why not go add a bit of red-orange coral for your Koi? OR recreate it - I'm always up for second helpings! x
I am all up for second helpings too... in fact, I just had a second chocolate cookie 😉!

Love these cards! Hi Lilly!
She says Hi right back!
So classy .. I really need that fishy stamp & die!! I've seen you use it before, but must add to the list!!
hahaha it's one of my faves, but you may also be thinking of the die cut layering one that I have too, they are both such fun!
Such an interesting video. Thank you 😊
Thank you so very much Heather!
Love all of these. Definitely going to try colour blocking. Thanks for sharing :)
It’s a great way to add some subtle interest without overwhelming the card. Thanks Vanessa

Clever woman! Wonderful cards!
Thanks so much, I’m glad you enjoyed them Diane!
Love it Therese! Especially the colour-blocked lighthouse card! 💚
Thanks Deb, that is a fabulous die set and perfect for Men's cards! Hope you have a great weekend!
New subscriber! Informative video, fantastic results, loaded wth tips! Thank you
You are so sweet, Thank YOU!
WOW... what great ideas. I love the lighthouse with the yellow-looking as the light. I love them all, Therese. What brand are these stamps?
That is a layered die cut set from Spellbinders, it's called Guiding Light and I have links for it. These are affiliate so I would get a small commission if you did buy it, at no extra cost to you. SB - tinyurl.com/yyynsf2t / SSS - shrsl.com/4ttc6
Not sure if that is what you were after? I have the products that are still available linked beneath the video and at my blog. But a couple of them were from Ellen Hutson and she is only at Amazon US now, and not everything is in her shop. Hope this helps Valda, reach out if you have any other questions my friend x
I like the koi card best but it was very hard to choose. Color blocking really makes a statement
I agree Jean, and I think it works a treat for Men's cards!
very nice
Thanks Maaike x
I absolutely hate swatching, so I don't do it, but I should use the color wheel more for certain
But now Altenew has released their new inks I am not reaching for the CP inks as much, they stamp so differently (I am not as good with the soft touch lol).

I truly believe that no one does MEN's CARDS better than you and not one TOOL BELT OR HAMMER was used. Love the Lighthouse card.
You know you are my fave, you have made my day Rachel!
Got warping on your card base, but already decorated the front? Add a duplicate card base size, and add it to the INSIDE of you card, stick it with DS tape and it will lay flat (guess how I diescovered this !!! lol
Thanks for sharing your tip - so clever and I MUST try it (ask me why? lol.)!
