    Jack has been a favourite of mine for a number of years now. He's
    intelligent, articulate and always a good interview. How he manages to
    be all three after that explosion is beyond me.

      Pure instinct in reaching up to hit the chute levers.....not Jack's first wild ride.

    I went to my first nhra event last year. I liked jack he was the only driver to visit with me and he drives a chrysler!

    wheel guards could kick up parts ... might fly up and and cause injuries to spectators ... they need to build better straps and blankets ...

    I wonder if they should install deflector plates in front of the slicks to prevent them from running over parts... which is sending the ass end in the air

      The real reason for the rear end coming off the ground is due to the body flying up over the car. Obviously, it gets to a point where it breaks free.
      I am very suprised that he didn't cut the right rear. Definitely more detrimental then the lifting of the rear end.
      btw, that happened right in front of me yesterday. Was VERY impressive to say the least

      Agreed. Makes a good case for a chassis-mounted rear wheel well... to guard against exactly this sort of scenario. Rare as it has been, thankfully.
