In the Upturned (Where Shrimp came from) Shrimp actually sometimes goes hostile and will chase you until you feed him an item slowly gaining speed and killing you in one hit. Would actually make an interesting modded entity.
According to something we read hes supposed to function like that with the mod but instead he just turned into a vacuum cleaner obsessed with hugs lol

I've heard that him and shrimp look fitting together
lethal company mods try not to be a broken buggy mess for 5 seconds challenge (impossible)
I definitely feel that but it is like 10% of the fun at least at the beginning lol.
So I guess hitting the bracken dog resets it's timer?
I think it rather just makes him run away from you for a short time so you can get away from him. But That might be a possibility. 🤔
