Perfect, little project for an easy DIY project at home. All you need is a table saw, miter saw, router table, random orbit sander, Domino cutter, pocket hole jig, nail gun, and a few bits of scrap 17 inch wide floor board.
Haha so true. I build and repair a bunch of stuff around the house. It’s amazing how much quality materials cost sometimes, but I’m never upset spending money on good tools that I can use over and over again. Sometimes I have coworkers ask me about building or repairing something and they are often stunned by how much expense or work can go into something that seems simple at first glance. TH-cam can make it seem like building a barn door or refinishing a dresser can be done in a couple of hours. I build things because they are better quality and more custom than you can buy. I rarely save money by making something myself. Etsy can do it cheaper but not better.
7:17 - That was slick using the square to set them all inline instead of drawing a line. Just need to figure out the offset on your nailer and then account for that offset in all your markings for super speed.
The variance in joinery methods on this is headspinning. Just glue in one place, just brad nails in another, other spots have pocket holes, others have stopped dados, but others have dominoes. Just all over the board on this one. Looks great though. Never seen a black high gloss stain on a live edge piece like this tabletop, and it turns out really cool.
God I wish I could work with these guys. Being a journeymen electrician i would give anything to work along side these guys and have fun while we work.
Makes me sad thinking how many old dilapidated barns and other buildings that were just torn down and burned or taken to dumps in the past. So much old growth wood just gone to ash and trash. Thankfully a good deal of it is saved these days and reused. No wood like old growth wood.
Tom I think you may have met your match. April Wilkerson only 31 I feel can give you a run for the money. She is an awesome carpenter, woodworker, metal fabricator, she has a 2900 sq ft shop, saw mill, 4x8 CNC machine, Plasma cutting CNC. Not much of anything she can’t do! Check her out on You Tube
