      @@Jakal_205 in other words most people don't know what a real musician is. My father is in the blues hall of fame. He played with James brown, ray Charles,Lonnie Mack, the funk brothers and many others. They were musicians. My dad could read music so he could play any song ever written. He sang too. Sold out radio city music hall. So I've seen real musicians, that have mastered instruments. That's what a real musician is. So what are you talking about? This guy is creative and he can play an instrument but most people don't like what is good, and what is technically hard to play. The average listener doesn't know a good musician when they hear one is my point.

    Live recording. Meaning he recorded the acoustic and the vocal at the same time. No pitch correction, and not perfectly on time. Nothing wrong with it, I'm just saying this was likely in One or two takes. Impressive.

    • @evilfantasy69
      @evilfantasy69 2 ปีที่แล้ว +44

      I read that he is also a busker (street performer) so full song live performances are normal for him. Not to suggest that it's easy.

    • @Spiderwolfer
      @Spiderwolfer 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It is very impressive but I really doubt it was one or two takes. Just the lighting coordination itself seems like it would’ve taken many takes to get right.
      Also I don’t know where you read it was a live recording but after listening to it I don’t think it is man. Yeah the guitar gets a little out of tune in the end but I wouldn’t be surprised if he had some melodyne on his voice. Also with the panning shots you can see there’s no mic anywhere near him. I think this is just a music video man.

    • @evilfantasy69
      @evilfantasy69 2 ปีที่แล้ว +39

      @@Spiderwolfer The mic is literally taped to his chest in plain view and he starts taking it off before the video cuts off.

    It's not just a song. It's therapeutic musical theatre. He busks in Brighton UK and has produced other tracks which are pretty potent. You do need to see it again and again. It's very deep and has been seen by more people than any other track, because it speaks to the internal dialogue inside all of us, allbeit not so extreme in most of us. He is also a VERY good musician and the production of this video is quite exceptional. Simple use of 2 cadences with the same tune + 2 lights and changing posture is quite astonishingly effective. He's a lyrical and performance genius, yet so authentic and humble. His Reach is two- pronged - those who simply enjoy and appreciate his music and performance genius, and those who resonate with parts of his story as he articulates their own pain and struggles. first time I heard this I was blown away, I had just finished a recording session, was by myself reflecting in the dark listening to a youtubemusic radio solo acoustic station, this song popped up, 7 views, halfway thru I had never felt so called out as I did right then. Since that time I have dove head first down the rabbit hole to understand the world that is Ren. I particularly found that I very much enjoyed watching others react to this piece of geniuses. I am not sure how I didn't run across your reaction sooner. I absolutely give you the highest of marks, you actually listened to the whole song, bringing it back to see if what you thought you heard was actually what you heard (same exact spot I had to rewind first time) without stopping to talk about it repeatedly during your first listen. This song (I feel) must be listened to in its entirety the first time hearing to actually be able to give a genuine reaction. I guess that this is the long winded version of saying I much appreciated your reaction. Top notch!!! Whom ever does the post production on your content knocked this out of the park as well. I truly enjoyed your reaction and comments. I only recently learned about Ren and have gone down this rabbit hole ever since. I can personally relate to many of his songs, and they deeply touch me. Ren is an incredible and unique artist; he plays multiple instruments and has great vocal ability. I recommend you check out some of his other work. The trilogy "The Tale of Jenny," "Screech," and "Violet" is haunting; watch them in the stated order, as this is the flow of the storyline. His song "Money Game" (Part I & II) is another recommendation. If you like his personal reflections, they are threaded through many of his songs; "Insomnia," "Depression," “Diazepam," “Penitence,” “Dear God,” “Heretic,” “Dominos,” his "Freckled Angels" album, just to name a few, all deserve a listen. Ren performs a range of genres, but mostly hip-hop or guitar-based ballads, as a solo act. His collaborations with Sam Tompkins, Chinchilla, and his performances as a member of the band "The Big Push" (which unfortunately broke up) are awesome and well worth checking out. Ren has impressive vocal and instrumental skills. He is one-of-a-kind.

    And to the question who he is, it's simple.
    He is Ren. Nothing to compare, something very unique.

    12 minutes of nothing but goosebumps. I've been a supporter, follower and fan of Ren since before his first album in fact I was one of the first to order his album, he even signed it. A few times in the past I've commented on big reaction channels to check him out because his gift is one the world needs to see and seeing this reaction has brought a tear to my eye. It's so poetically beautiful that THIS is the song to give Ren "the big push" his career deserves and he has earned time and time again. Thank you for reacting to this and thank you for seeing his talent.

    Yo Stevie, I'm right there with ya, I usually like to see or know a song before I check out a reaction, but today said what the hell and checked it out with ya, and next level shit that was!! After you signed off I muted the tv and just sat with his words for like 10min. I'm almost an old head, shit don't hit like that the first time very often. Anyway, great great reaction!! Thanks for introducing to this dude.

    So glad to see you react to this, so satisfying to witness. I'm a recent fan of his, and can promise, he has a catalogue of some beauts that you'll love. Personally, I think his 'Money Game' and 'Money Game part2' display his rap game well. However his rap is peppered throughout most of his tracks. No doubt you'll be bombarded to listen to his trilogy track 'The tale of Jenny and Screech' its 3 musical stories in one (approx 13 mins long). . . Not heard anything yet that's disappointed. Enjoy. Love from the UK
    Edit. Having just watched money game and part 2 again. Part 2 really shows his rap flow more, but they have to be both watched to appreciate his story telling

  • @gregbeard6057

    Man, I can't believe you've reacted to the musical and lyrical genius that is Ren!!!
    I watch loads of your reactions and Ren definitely won't disappoint!!!
    You've really got to check out Ren's Tales Trilogy; Jenny's Tale followed by Screech's Tale and finally Violet's Tale. They're all available on Ren's TH-cam channel as 1 video.
    You'll notice that most of his music videos are performed live and in 1 camera shot. 👍🏻

    Hey Ren, you have struggled so much & it shows in your music. I don't think I've ever heard anything like it before. People talk of singing or writing from your heart but you do it from the depths of your soul. It encompasses so much. You, your music both are indeed very unique. People sing and rap but the way you do is beyond amazing, you're mastery of all of it is immeasurable. One of a kind. Please continue with your efforts, I wish you so much luck, success and most of all understanding. Thank you.

    Absolutely amazing on so many levels
    It’s like watching a movie, a play, a documentary, a music video, and being at a concert all at once…. I love music, but I’ve never experienced anything like that….the talent and creativity mixed with the execution is astounding. Idc what you listen to or who you are, real recognizes real, and that was some of the realist shit I’ve ever heard/seen. I’m in ur corner bro, you can do great things. You already did with that video. My favorite part about music, or any art for that matter, is how you can take pain and turn it into something beautiful. And it seems that the more painful it is, the more beautiful the outcome can be. Just like life. God bless and congratulations for being so strong to fight the battle, but to me, you are winning.

  • @stephenlackey5852

    This is art of transcendent beauty and an *important* song. Artists often struggle with imposter syndrome.
    There’s a movie starring Olivia Munn called “Violet” that rings of this and was a transformative experience for me… just as this song also resonates.
    As a person who’s never been able to escape imposter syndrome and negative self-talk, *realizing* that I can exert the strength that destructive voice questions-strength that I *know* I have-was sooo important.
    It takes time to push past the negativity-to make your own voice stronger, but if anyone out there is struggling with this, please please please *know* that you can do it.
    *Know* that I believe in you… but you don’t need me to-just like you don’t need the shroud of doubt that feels first of protection and then as a prison.
    You are *stronger* than that voice.
    You are stronger than you can *possibly* know…
    until you push back with softness or aggression-your choice.

    WOW now that’s genius, I was blown away by this performance. I can understand his torment now that I understand his health conditions also I picked up on so many different types of music in his guitar playing with little flints Spanish/Mexican and Arabian and Chinese influence in his guitar music and obviously western style. There probably more I’ll have to listen to his instrumental part again at the beginning because I was so focused on his lyrics. Stay strong brother, I think your life is about to change for the better after this amazing performance. God Bless you 🇬🇧
